Super great reaction to this beautiful song which was sung shortly after 9/11. You are right, David's voice stands out regardless. Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite Gaither Vocal Band songs. Looking forward to more soon 😊
Russ Taff is the singer next to David Phelps. Russ was an original member of the group The Imperials back in the 60's and 70's. Bill Gaither only does this song with David Phelps. Otherwise they've not sang it since David left the group.
This performance was following 9/11. Russ Taff is the guys name you weren't sure of. Mr. Roskoe you have an awesome speaking voice. Davis Phelps made this song and Bill Gaither was so impressed with David's performance that he said they would never sing this again without David.
BRO, Very nice reaction! David's voice comes right from the Heavens! Your comments after is true. I'm Naitive American, and here in Minnesota a lot of people, including some of my relatives, live on reservations. Please have a look at the origin and concept of reservations and why they came in existence to begin with. And how the initial funding came about, and by whom, that was in charge at the time. THANK YOU for reacting to these musicians with their uplifting message!
This was performed at Radio City Music Hall in NY City 9 months after 9/11 terrorist attacks. That was why there were firemen up front and in the video at times. Love this song and thanks for doing this song.
It truly was a beautiful tribute to the 9/11 first responders in New York. It was actually filmed at Carnegie Hall. I agree MrJd, I love this song and also shout out to Roskoe for this reaction!
This song captures why dictators thruout history hate religion, and Christianity in particular. Even when you throw them in prison, a Christian is free, free from guilt, free from sin, free from death itself. As Paul and Silas sat in their cell, in chains behind bars, they were free. If you kill a Christian, they are present with the Lord, and so they have no fear of death, no fear of tyranny. And dictators can’t handle that kind of resistance, of rebellion. The Bible teaches Christians to follow the law of the land, even when it’s corrupt, because we answer to a higher power, we’re concerned with greater things. So much freedom in that way of thought, it’s dangerous to the powerful, so they hate it and do all they can to destroy it. Want to be be a revolutionary? Love Jesus, follow His word, nothing more revolutionary than that.
The guy behind David Phelps is Russ Taff and they all form the Bill Gaither band at the time. There are now new singers in the Gaither singers. Amazingly awesome!!
David was the “clean up” singer… Bill Gaither arranges these fellows and their particular parts in every song! David is phenomenal in every song he participates in. Please listen to his more recent songs - he’s 53 and still has it! Song for Sinners, Hello Beautiful, And Moonlight… all excellent
Bill also has said that with David in the vocal band he and Gloria were able to write song like this one because of David’s vocal range. I don’t believe the GVB sings this song anymore because David isn’t with them now. They have sung it at the GVB Reunion concerts.
Actually, I heard Bill say one time that David does the arrangements for "some" of the songs. Very impressive! I hope God has my mansion in heaven right next door to David & Lori so I can hear when he's just singing to be singing 😁 🎶 ❣️
They actually sang this song at the White House when George W was POTUS. It's on UA-cam. The guy next to David, Russ Taft, was a back up singer for the Imperials. Love his reactions. Mark Lowry does the same and Guy is often very moved during David's solo's.
Russ Taff was the fourth singer that you didn't know his name. He was lead singer with another group before GVB l don't remember the bands name. GVB never disappoints, no matter who the artists in the band at the time
Russ sang with The Imperials. He is best known for his song Praise The Lord. Love some Russ Taff. Love the Gaither Vocal Bands as well. All of the lineups are amazing.
@@youmaderoskoe Can't say enough about Russ Taff! He and his wife put out a documentary about his struggle with alcoholism and it's excellent. It came out in 2018 and it's called "I Still Believe." Highly recommend!
Matthew 7:13-14 New King James Version (NKJV) “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. Lord, give us the surrender our lives to be empowered by Your Holy Spirit to have the courage to follow after your footsteps to point the way to others to Christ's eternal gospel of redemption each and ever day until you take us to our heavenly home.
He is the goat no one better. He touches your soul.❤️
Yes, Russ Taff is great and Guy Penrod is great, but David is simply another level.
"The gloves came off." 🤣 Good way to put it.
Great reaction Roscoe! they all have great voices but David puts so much passion in a song .❤
Thank you, Julie 😊

Thank you, Sandy! Bill Gaither is a smart man. 😁👍
At this same concert, have you watched David Phelps sing “End Of The Beginning”.
David is a Ferrari in a parking lot of geos. LOL! great analogy dude

@Gracie-SavedByGrace Yes, Carnegie hall that's right. I knew that, just forgot.
Here's the link to them singing at the WhiteHouse. ua-cam.com/video/g4NX7QswymI/v-deo.html
Listen to "He's alive" and "We shall behold Him" by David!!!

I love that term "clean up singer"! I'll definitely check out those songs, Cheryl!
David put lyrics to Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Quite stunning!
Bill Gaither literally referred to David as the clean up hitter…bases loaded and swinging for the fence GRAND SLAM….home run!!

Russ Staff sang with the Imperials. One of his most known songs is Praise The Lord. His video Ain't No Grave is great. Th Roskoe
Love this and thanks for reacting to it. Great reaction? 😊 ❤
Thank you, Nicole 😊

@@vickygarrett8834 Thank you for that, Vicky 😁👍

The other singer is Russ Taft
That's Russ Taft.

Taff. Not have!
