Riva, the name says everything you want to hear. Quality and style with practicality too. Back in the '80's, as I prodded through the brokerage section of Motor Boat & Yachting; day dreaming of someday winning the pools. I often wondered, why are Riva so expensive? They were rarely reviewed, the world was smaller forty years ago. Fast forward to the internet age and online video reviews we can see why. A few months ago you reviewed the beautiful Princess 80. A brilliant boat it was, but if I was in the enviable position of having to decide which to order. Definitely the Riva.
Great tour as always Hugo, thanks. Couldn’t stop staring at the yacht on the starboard side - another Riva? Guess it’s not a yacht you’re allowed to prepare food on if you’re on a night passage unless you can do it in the dark?! Galley next to the helm never seems a good idea to me on a big yacht.
Riva cut a critical corner that is important to owner comfort...the Seakeeper 18 gyro stabilizer is underpowered for the size and weight of this vessel. This dramatically reduces and may even completely eliminate the effectiveness of the gyro stabilizer. However, Riva did not make room for a properly sized gyro. This is an amateur move that makes one wonder what else is missing and what other corners were cut. I love the salon design. I also appreciate the way the owner's cabin has a hallway and crew cabin isolating it from the engine room. Additional floor plans for the staterooms would be great for those that don't need 4 bedrooms and would prefer a larger owner's cabin and associated features.
I like the 82 a lot. The aft area is really nice, and the solution of having the table lengthwise is very, very good. I'm not a big fan of the high gloss mahogany as I'm not 90 years old, but if that was satin black, or a light light tone, or even an actual colour, it would be incredible.
Could you include some more critique in the tours? Lots of sharp edges, cabins seemed a bit oppressive. Certain bits seem more style over practicality. And could you even see the bow from the upper helm? Loved the inside saloon, dining space though, and the profile. Riva Diva? Hmm. I'd def. have it given though (and then exchange it for a Pearl or two). 😊
I like this, beats 10+m for a Sunseeker or Princess and I actually like all the different levels. Didn't like the Galley much though and never like 2 x twin rooms, would much prefer one twin and 3 doubles. Very nice boat indeed.
PS: what I attempted to say was: my mental price / size / value mapping has the British Luxury brands offering more value / size in relation to price vs. the Italian luxury brands - but I could be wrong - obv. not easy to compare apples to apples here (because base / entry-level specifications may differ etc.). ;).
Thank you for your comment. However, I have to disagree. For example this 75 Sunseeker Sport Yacht starts at 3.2m GBP - with options, and as seen in this other, recent MBY video, it comes to around 3.8m GBP. Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/6Rcoib58viE/v-deo.html@@MrMlbfan6
Does it matter? You're not going from Hawaii to Sidney in it. It will take anything the Med can throw at it and cruise to Grand Bahamas from Miami just fine.
Great video, great tour and beautiful M/Y. Do the designers of riva think anytime with the storage for a season campain? Because theres no storage!!! Kitchen and cabin pilot together? Wtf. All the water splashs out to the Simrad when you are doing the dishes😂 OMG
Thanks for the great tour of what is difficult to call a boat. It is a beautiful thing, indeed, form over function. But... From sitting in the saloon, hardly a view to the sea. Slipery surfaces at the stern, beautifully glossy painted, a perfectly slipery access to the stern resting area over transparent panels, and so many, so many hard corners waiting inside for the unwary. Better have a doctor on board. But as this boat is not designed to go to sea, but stay well visible and admirable to all at anchor, not too far from a fancy busy mediterranean marina, this should be OK. Greetings from the South China Seas.
My wife and I toured this boat, and reality is that while it does have crew accommodation, Riva kind of sees it as an owner operator boat, with minimal crew - at least that's how it was presented to us. My thought is that having the galley there, means that it is very "inclusive" if that makes sense. And when I saw it, I really did not see anything that would make me think that there would be an actual problem.
I like the interior and exterior salons.Quite elegant and nice. Also the cabins except the second maincabin that has no windows and gives a bad sensation of a very closed space not breathing. On the upper deck there is too much space which is good but there is no grill area. The stairs to get to the crue area is too narrow and steap which means that you cannot carry anything going down and up but also in case of emergency you cannot move quickly. The cabins have steps which means that persons with kinetic problem will have a hard time using it.The last thing that makes me trully mad is the galley beside the captains area.Grease and dirt on the electronic equipment that navigates the yacht. Those designers never cook.I guess they get pizza delivery and their kitchen is always clean.
There’s much to love here, but I’m not sure how that garage/sunpad fits the overall theme. It looks like they were going for an almost SUV style at the back and lost their nerve.
Yes, but if consider how much time you actually use that space other than to sleep they really don't need to be big. Those rooms actually become wasted space during the day. I just noticed though that the crew once again get a space the owner would place their dog.
@@gotafarmyet4691 Precisely. It is actually a boat with really nice LIVING space. My wife and I toured this boat, and it is a very nice place to be. Many boats with larger staterooms tend to have salons and dining areas that feel cluttered and cramped. You live on the main deck and flybridge, not in the stateroom.
I can just imagine being anchored off Anglesey as a rain storm comes in and trying in vain to get the Williams tender back in to its cubby hole at the back, and cursing like a trooper whilst my wife shouts “Everyone can hear you!” then finally getting inside piss wet through and getting seaweed on the carpet. I can think of better ways to spend £6m.
Fabulous walk through, but in my opinion there are two design flaws that I would not want, for one why would you want a galley right next to the helm it is very ugly, and then on the beach area why not have an up down platform going into the water with raising steps feature that you have on much cheaper vessels and all the gloss woodwork is to me very outdated, looks like it was designed by a very old person, for that kind of money it should have much more bling, and I could go on and on!
at the end of the day you've paid €7 M+ for sitting cheek by jowl in crowded, noisy marinas or at anchor with the hum and smell of the generator needed to run the stabilizer which has its own high-pitched whine, with a bored crew milling around and nowhere to exercise (the Med is full of jellyfish, so forget swimming), and you ponder why did you need to buy that boat again when plenty are available for charter and you could have invested that €7M on a large seaside villa somewhere in the Med instead ?
Lived in spain for 15 years and haven't gone swimming like 2 times because of jelly fish so don't know who feeds you that bs, if its that bad why buy a villa there then when the whole point of a villa near the med is so you can go swimming there also....
Great tour, thank you! This Riva is not my cup of tea. $6.6 is a lot considering the plastic chairs at the dining table. Small galley. Very dark throughout, dungeon like. My comments are for the vessel, not towards Hugo.
Even the name is incredibly crass: Diva? Come on! 🤮 Well, the whole company (and all of Ferretti Group) was sold to the Chinese so who would buy anything from them anyway? Don't worry, many of the engineers and designers will move to newly established European companies or other European companies and there will be plenty of beautiful European yachts on offer.
The interior has a lot of sharp corners, not ideal for a yacht on sea. Riva should have made the corners rounded. The sink to wash your hands is for children hands, no adult can wash his hands there.....again a tiny bed for the master bedroom...remove all the sofas and make the bed bigger! Guests have to sleep in seperate beds...not even a queen size bed for guests.
Worst kitchen / helm I’ve ever seen. Not just because they are combined (I can’t imagine providing radio transmissions while a chef is cooking), but they are both significantly compromised.

Brilliant yacht, absolutely brilliant! And also a very good tour, you didn’t spend too much time on storage! 😎😎
Your tour of this vessel was perfect. This yacht is also perfect wow !
Thank you again for all of your knowledgeable & dedicated work ❤
Very, very, impressive. Thanks for the tour.

Looking beautiful. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous yacht.
It is worth. Utter classy boat 👌
Beautiful. It’s definitely worth it
Just gorgeous 💕
An amazing yacht, I just love everything about it and well presented too. Loved your presentation.
A true work of art, beautiful Riva yachts are definitely the best 👍 💯
Unfortunately the company was sold to the Chinese though, so who would do business with them?
Gorgeous design

Tiny port holes in the forward cabin - not great
Worth it

I'm rel. certain that Sunseeker & Princess offer more value / size at around 8m?

I’d say within the Ferretti group, the Ferretti brand itself is closest to the Brits, with Riva pitched as a super-luxury product, so to speak.

Gorgeous boat and a great review ,. Thanks Hugo.
With all that Matble and Glass up top is she not a bit top heavy?
You’ll have to wait for the full sea trial in the mag to find out!

Lots of angles and sharp edges for a boat, seems like these would be a hazard when underway or in rough seas
❤❤❤
Gorgeous boat, but only 300 nm ?, seems extremely restrictive
the galley next to the helm station is not in my taste. I don't understand this position into a such stylish yacht
My wife and I toured this boat, and reality is that while it does have crew accommodation, Riva kind of sees it as an owner operator boat, with minimal crew - at least that's how it was presented to us. My thought is that having the galley there, means that it is very "inclusive" if that makes sense. In this configuration - a couple without crew - I completely understand your position
should have fixed the pillow on the foredeck, my OCD screaming!
Galley next to helm not good
Where are lazarets on board?
There’s much to love here, but I’m not sure how that garage/sunpad fits the overall theme. It looks like they were going for an almost SUV style at the back and lost their nerve.
Al Fresco? Never heard of him
1 seat for the pilot, that’s ok, but, the rest of the crew? Where do they seat when yacht is sailing? On the sofa with the owners? Or on the floor? 😅
So the design is beautiful, the craft work excellent. However the rooms are tiny.

Interesting points but think that highly lacquered woodwork is a Riva signature look so not sure they can ever ditch that completely

And be on one place to the rest of time. Trust me, I have house on Croatian seaside for 51 years, and I am sick of it.
Lived in spain for 15 years and haven't gone swimming like 2 times because of jelly fish so don't know who feeds you that bs, if its that bad why buy a villa there then when the whole point of a villa near the med is so you can go swimming there also....
Can you wake up on a morning and move your £7m villa to a different part of the world?
Whatever. If you don't understand, then you should not own a boat.
Future owners already have a nice villa, this is a nice add-on.
The interior looks so small and depressing. Can’t see any place for fender storage except on top of the tender?
Great tour, thank you! This Riva is not my cup of tea. $6.6 is a lot considering the plastic chairs at the dining table. Small galley. Very dark throughout, dungeon like. My comments are for the vessel, not towards Hugo.

@@hugoandreae3785 Thank you kindly for not taking offense. 😄
Cheaper than a Princess Y80 😂
*Fish eye videos are the worst!*
Sorry, but Riva used to make timeless, elegant yachts. These new ones look like a Japanese hot-hatch that has spent too much time in Halfords. Yuck.
Even the name is incredibly crass: Diva? Come on! 🤮

It looks a little tacky to be honest.
That crew cabin sucks fro 8 or 9 million dollar boat rather spend time in prision

Nope nope nope...
Loll what? You not a fan of styling and quality? 😅
riva doing the same thing over and over again. Boring. no innovation.
you are so slow.
Yeah, I’ll wait for jacks review….
