I never realized til I started watching this channel how many conditions can be mistaken for acne. And then if you really have something else, no surprise that acne treatments don’t work.

Dr. Dray, I just have to say that you have saved my skin. I’m 33 and have not been happy with my skin until I started consuming your content and implementing EFFECTIVE skin care. And for the past two years haven’t gone a day without sunscreen (better late than never)

@@5nobody9 well when I first started watching her I was coming off months of extreme antibiotics and my skin absolutely went nuclear when I finished them. So I started out with her basic skincare stuff: double cleanse, very gentle cleanser, good moisturizer (I used cerave lotion) and adapalene/benzoyl (they call it differin in the states). After several months-1 year I only used that to just restart my skin. Now my barrier is healed and I will switch out what actives I use based on what my skin may need (three days of actives: either adapalene or salicylic, and one day of no actives and repeat or change as needed). I now have a routine that I’ve found suits me perfectly. And sunscreen. Sunscreen every day. It took me a million years to find one I liked but now that I have I don’t go without it ever.

Hi Dr. Dray, I am a relatively new subscriber to your channel (and UA-cam, in general). Thank you so much for the content that you provide. I arrived at your channel in search of some way to repair my skin barrier (not realizing that is what my skin needed) after I ran out of options to soothe the dryness and stinging. I still don't know the cause but your recommendation to return to the basics rescued my skin, including vaseline for my dry, flaky eyelids. And now, I will continue my skin care journey to health. (As a side note, your holiday decorations are beautiful and festive, but the blinking lights are really distracting. I do have a hyper-sensitive brain so it could be just me, but thought I would share with you just in case it affects others as well.) Happy Holidays and again, thank you.

acne like eruptions lack closed comedones, they appear same
1- eruptive vellus hair cysts = Don't heal with scar
2- steroid acne = monomorphic and red, can be acute or appear after several months of stopping steroids
3- bacterial folliculitis , usually very itchy
4 - gram negative folliculitis due to prolonged use of antibiotics , usually experienced by acne pts , isotretinoin help in this
5- fungal acne = malassezia folliculitis
6 - rosacea= not oily skin, acne like eruptions but not closed comedones
    7- perioral dermatitis
    8- demodex mites

I went through the absolute worse bout of acne a few years ago! To this day, idk what triggered it. I can only guess it was a combination of factors.
Today, my skin is more clear than I could’ve ever imagine. No more hyperpigmentation (which I had made peace with). That experience really showed me what people with acne go through and why it can be such a hit to your self-esteem.

Great video - very informative! I have bushy eyebrows and due to rosacea, use mineral-only sunscreens. I have to be careful to avoid an excess of sunscreen and/or facial moisturizer getting trapped in in my brows, especially at the inner corners, or I get seborrheic dermatitis flakes and pustules. Pesky malassezia! After I apply moisturizer or sunscreen, I use a clean toothbrush or spoolie to brush out my brows and swab away the bit of excess lotion/sunscreen with a q-tip. An ounce of prevention... 🙂

That's why i always advise my parents and siblings and of course friends not to over use or misuse the corticosteroid family. Because let's face it, it's not the poison aka drug but the dose and the misuse as well that tag the ingredient with the bad stigma 😊😅❤. When i get a pimple now i just put a hydrocolloid patch and let it there to heal on its own 😊.

I had impetigo on my chin and went to the hospital The Dr sent me home with some cream to get rid of it which worked I kept avoiding this area until I felt it would be ok to use my normal skin routine Usually washing it before application
I also made the mistake of putting one of my lotions in my fridge Yeah Dumb! I was washing my pimples and a bit of red scaring Luckily I'm ok I didn't panic for a change and simply exfoliated this until it was gone which took a little more than 2 weeks Which again taught me a bit of a lesson didn't it?

This is my case. I asked to my derm what was wrong with me, if I was unicorn and no, absolutely no. There' are a lot of us who need a second or a third round. Lucky those who are flawless forever with one round. Every time you are on isotretinoine the dose is significantly lower, the amount of time shorter and the results last longer. If it helps, I' m 50 and I found my Saint Derm 20 years ago and the amount of family, friends and customers journey I' ve witnessed is countless. If done properly, (you know, all kind of blood checks, periodical controls and "The Isotreti-Rules"), it' s a very very good idea. Good luck🧛🏻‍♀️🖤

That’s unusual. Isotretinoin is supposed to *permanently* damage your sebaceous glands.
The body works in an intelligent way regarding stimulation and cellular health. If you have a damaged fibroblast, and you blast it with Retinoic Acid, the body isn’t stupid enough to forcr a damaged fibroblast to make more skin tissues. It will heal the fibroblast first.
Similarly, something caused your sebaceous gland to heal. Thag suggests something was stimulating it, and I can’t think of a more suspicious culprit than Dihydrotestosterone. The Hulk version of Testosterone.
You should try another Accutane cycle, but this time take Dutasteride alongside it. This drug will prevent Dihydrotestosterone from re stimulating your Sebaceous
      Glands.
Good luck. May Kligman’s soul save you. amen.

Hello, My eye dr just found tons of Demodex in eyelashes, and recommended washing ,but I do it every day, and my eyes itch all the time of course, can I get some general advice from you

Are you using the wash recommended by your eye doctor? There are specific products for washing the eyelids / eyelashes for demodex.

I see you mentioned these are just few bc mine don't resemble any of these infact mine started off as looking like a break out to using niacinamide(not very extreme just three tiny red pus dots) but it's been more than 2 months now and these very miniscule pimple although diminished but still look like they're in there and these also appeared bc of moisturizer i researched and the moisturizer had cetyl alcohol and stearic acid ceteareth27 all these are not it made my skin congested veryyyy textured and apparently i had nothing wrong with my skin except for blackheads even now it doesn't hv extreme condition like for example acne ... but still it looks sensitive or id say sensitized and some congested pimples pin point comedones like milia and now i use NOTHING 🙂 yeah.. and i did go to the dermatologist and it didn't really did anything good so yeah dilemma 🙂 not that i have any extreme issue but ... 🙂

@@DrDrayzdaydr. Dray, can French thermal waters relief flushing? I often see 50ml of these selling in Brazil (by Avene, Vichy and LRP), so I wonder if they can reduce flushing when you’re outdoors (in addition to our regular am/ pm skincare regimen)! Also, can fragrance possibly trigger flushing? Or can any ingredients that person have a specific allergy to trigger flushing?
