@destindude1978 yes, have seen that on some devices too. I'm wondering if it's not so much about the build and perhaps a rolling software account update?
I just updated my google chromecast with google Tv ( 4K) and the “free play” app does not show up.how do I fix this. Or is this feature only applicable to the onn box update? I have the onn 4K box but no update available …. I have the same Android TV OS12 and same build #.
I got one of these and installed but the problem is when the TV is off and I ask question like "Hey Google how is the weather today?" the speaker of the TV box does not respond! I am sure that the TV box gets my question and it is answering but the voice is going to TV through HDMI cable even though the TV is off! Then when I disconnect the HDMI cable from TV and try again I get the answer from TV Box speaker! I don't know what is wrong but while the HDMI Cable is connected to TV and TV is turned off I can not hear any answer from my Google! Any suggestions will be highly appreciated to solve this problem!
@@TechItBeforeYouWreckIt Thank you so much for your answer! If it only works when the TV is on so what is the point of that speaker of the TV Box? You mean the speaker on the TV box is supposed to work only when I disconnect the HDMI cable from TV ?!
Well, iPad natively supports airplay... Which is different than Google casting. The only way to use casting from an iPad is within certain apps that support it. Which app are you trying to cast from?

As soon as I unplug from the adapter and plug into the built in port, everything returns to normal. Anyone have a workaround?
@jmpjag definitely makes a huge difference for local files. I personally use a Plex server with 4k content. The fastest connection possible is always best!

@@RickyCash It seems to be a Google upsate and not an Android update, without having GoogleTV launcher running probably won't get it. I have a launcher manager so I can switch back and forth.

After some back and forth with various users, I'm pretty sure it's not version dependent. I think it's a software push that has to come from Google for these specific Google home app that's on your Google TV.
Great video and information, I am still debating on buying a Amazon Firestick 4K Maxx with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of SSD storage as opposed to a ONN 4K Pro box that has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of SSD storage.
The Android boxes are unlocked, so hard for me to go with a fire stick that is so locked down. I know you can hack it but seems ridiculous to have to do that IMHO. Good luck! Let me know what you decide. 😁
Instead of introduction you could go straight up to he point. I hate when youtubers do this. Fortunately I got my hands on this device soon to test it.

Im going to return mine. Honestly all these streaming devices are essentially the same!.. each proprietary to the service. I cant get the spectrum tv app on this onn 4k pro. Meaning no live television like dodgers games. Yeah it has tons of tv shows but not "LIVE" local broadcasts. I had a roku streaming device and it basically did all the same things this does except for the talking to Google and all those other meaningless bells and whistles. I tried sideload this onn 4k pro and i cant even get the downloader app from the play store!.. they took it off. Just like phones, in the end they all do the same exact thing its ment for!..
Bummer. I agree, for some people who have simple needs, these devices are basically the same. If all you care about is running specific apps, go with the box that supports those apps. That would be my advice. But I do want to say that the downloader app has definitely not been taken off the app store on Google TV. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.esaba.downloader
'Downloader' has NOT been removed from the 'Google-TV Playstore' (which IS different from the regular Playstore, that your Android phone has access to ... as GTV apps need to be compatible with your television). This is why certain 3rd-party apps require 'Set Orientation' and a 'Mouse Toggle' app to use. They were only designed for use on your Android PHONE (not your Android/Google-TV device). However, if you just type your app search from the Home page, you don't get the FULL store (why, I have no idea!). You either have to physically open the PlayStore app by going into your 'Settings/Apps' section OR (much easier) just use ... 1.) The microphone button on your Remote 2.) The 'hands-free' Google Assistant ('PRO' model only) ... and say 'Google PlayStore' or just 'PlayStore' ... and this will get you the FULL version. Then you can merely type (or SAY) 'Downloader'.. and download it! IT'S THERE!
