Love it!!!, My first car was a 1971 Dodge Charger SE with the 383 Magnum w/Torqueflight and half top vinyl roof and factory sport wheels like yours. Loved that car so much, fast as hell too, when Washington came out with personal 7 digit plates I ran down to the license dept and got plates that said "CHARGER" was really proud of those, it was a lemon twist yellow, did some bodywork replaced passenger door and put a 440HP motor out of a 71 Dogde Polara State Patrol car in it when the 383 died (in my driveway no less), Belonged to Mopar muscle Club of America and went to many car shows with it, they actually wrote it up in one of thier flyers as one of the prettiest Chargers they had ever seen for that year. wished I could attach some photos of it here but sadly can't. I owned her for 13 years then sold it to a good friend, needed a trans and it sat for a year till he got one back in it, we worked for Jiffy Lube at that time and we had to do a grand opening at a new shop few towns away so we drove it up there, later that night when he was going home after dropping me off someone pulled out in front of him, he hit the skids, went across the road sideways right into a big old tree on the drivers side wrapping it around the tree. Killed it dead, hit between the drivers door and fender pushing the firewall in 6 inches and window post was straight up and down, 3 inch gap on passenger door and fender. I cried when he told me that, we both cried, I lost my baby and it was not ever going to see pavement again (Sniff). So glad you kept yours and I know your proud of it, I sure was of my baby, she sat low and looked so mean coming down the road!
@keyper555, Same here! My first car was a '71 Charger SE exactly like yours, but no vinyl on the top. Bought it in '81 for $500. It was sitting BEHIND the Dodge dealerships service garage all by itself. As if the dealer didn't want to display it with his newer cars. I asked if it was for sale, he said yes, I bought it with cash that day! Mine also had the 383 but the previous owner put an Edelbrock Torker on it, and put in a Hurst pistol grip shifter. It was a 4 speed manual. Great times in that car. Most of my friends at the time were huge Mopar fans. I had a buddy with a '69 charger 440 hemi, another one with a '70 Plymouth Roadrunner. Talk about a ratpack! Those were the days!!
As the proud owner of a 73 SE Brougham, your car is very well detailed and beautiful. So many people screw these cars up when restoring them. Everyone has their own ideas right. Very nicely done.
Soon after greeting out of the army, I bought a new 73 SE Brougham. Bronze with white top and interior. Nicest car I ever owned. Agree that this one is a beauty.
I had a 74 Charger S.E sunroof car factory high performance 360 4bbl,car was very quick too plus an awesome induction roar when floored..B-5 blue/blue..I removed the factory wire wheel hubcaps and added magnum 500's.Car had factory duel exhaust(not machine gun tip) just regualr duel exhaust turn down tips, console, tach, slap stik highly optioned..Must be low production on that car..This was 1997.I did make the car better I did a lot of making it perfect..New paint, seat redone..Rebuilt the 727 it had a seal leak so I thought to freshen it up aka shift kit ..It had 727 and 8 3/4. I should have kept it solid, reliable I put about 10,000 miles in 4 months then sold it..I always bought/sold cars and still have several old Mopar cars. These are VERY nice driving/handling cars!! I had a 72 Rallye 400-4bbl sold it to my cousin who still owns it..I also had several 73-74 318,360 2 and 4bbl cars 400 2 and 4bbl cars and a 440 73 S.E..I bought and sold Chrysler cars since the late 80's..i am probably roughly your age.. Sorry for the novel..
Good looker...the 17" rims really fill out the wheel wells nicely. I had a '75 Imperial with a sunroof and the roof panel ooked exactly like this one...prob the assembly was done the same way
I had several B bodies the glove box lock worked just with the trunk key..I liked Chrysler products because they were solid and rattle ,squeak free well built cars..I am sure some rattled but was easily rectified..GM/Ford were rattle traps back then.
Mostly Chrysler had good build quality. Mine rattled because they never tightened the dash. The one big thing and it may be for all the US cars the gaps and paint were always just OK.
Nice WP29G2A ! I have a U code model in GA4 light gunmetal metallic. So glad the restoration keeps the 72 vibe, I've seen too many "restored" 72's with orange engines , incorrect grills ,hoods, center caps, badging etc. . You should find a set of firewall to fender braces that seem to be missing, it seems like a lot of them disappear during restoration but they were new for 72 as the 71 models do not even have a firewall stud. I have found that the passenger side brace is straight on small block cars and are slightly bent for breather hose clearance on 440 cars. Also my 72 has buckets with no console as that was an extra cost option regardless(it does have the cassette player though).. The side marker lights were more than likely changed per D.O.T. requirements, they certainly were cheaper.
Cool I love Gunmetal metallic, I have seen a few people that have "restored" te cars and repainted over that color. Straggly enough it is use of the braces on small block cars is hit or miss, most factory 340 cars that I have seen don't have them but if I found a set I probably would add. Mine never had them. Thanks for the watch and the excellent comment. Take that car out and enjoy!
I too, have GA4 u code SE, although mine is a '71. It came with gunmetal leather bucket seats, sunroof, am/fm, power windows, and a/c. Unfortunately a previous owner changed it to red with a black red interior. I'll be putting it back to its original color scheme.
@@user-pgchargerse71 I had a chance to buy a 71 u code awhile back but the 440 was replaced with a 340. It was gunmetal. I passed on it to my regret. I almost changed the color on the 72. So glad I stuck with the GA7 light gunmetal metallic also known as Winchester gray in plymouths.

Great Story! I also have a 1972 Charger SE Brougham with a power sunroof that has been in the family since 1978.
WOW! AWESOME...What is the G70 Number on the fender tag and did you register it with the Sunroof registry?
@@DJsClassicGarage Yes I registered it many years ago. It is number 71 built on October 14th.
