    Today we're exploring a really simple network using the edge TOP, a feedbackloop and we're going to create a pixelated effect using the Limit TOP. Hope you enjoy!

    Awesome tutorial! Short and sweet. So much can be done with fairly small networks, it's super cool! Thanks!

    super cool tutorial! youtube's compression seems to take issue with the constantly moving output window though haha, might be worth it to upscale the vid to 4k after exporting to take advantage of the bitrate

    Hello, great tutorial. But like how do you learn this stuff? Like how to you know what key will do what? Could you do a break down of like the major components you use and explain them? Cheers!!!

      Hey there, I'd recommend copying tutorials on things you find pretty and trying to understand each step. Then try changing values in the network. The cool thing is that if you change a value you get immediate visual response. So you make the radius of a circle bigger: it gets bigger. So copying and then adjusting networks. Do this until you know just a few operators well and try building something from scratch.
      A simple combination of operators would be a Circle TOP, feeding in to the first input of a displace TOP, and a Noise TOP feeding in to the second input of the displace TOP. Now go change some values until you understand what most do.
      I am playing around with the idea of making a super short beginner series. This will take me some time. In the meanwhile there is an absolutely wonderful beginner series by Elekktronaut!
      Good luck and keep asking questions!
      Cheers

    Such a nice tutorial, thank you. Is it possible to add colors to this though?

    • @DanielSteenhoff
      @DanielSteenhoff  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you! Absolutely, you can always add color to touchdesigner networks. Try adding a lookup TOP at the end. Connect the output of this network to the first input and connect a ramp TOP to the second input. Now change the colors in the ramp to color your visual. (The ramp lookup combination colors based on brightness)

    Thankyou so much for this amazing tutorial.
    How can i make the pixel displacement go slower?

    • @DanielSteenhoff
      @DanielSteenhoff  16 днів тому +1

      That's actually a bit hard with this visual. The first thing you could try is to make the noise Top go slower. So divide absTime.seconds with a higher number. Then you could try changing some stuff in the feedback loop. Let me know if something works :)

    very cool !
    Is it possible to make this design interactive with audio?

    • @DanielSteenhoff
      @DanielSteenhoff  28 днів тому +1

      Absolutely!, Grab your audio file or device in. Connect it to an audio spectrum chop, then an analyze chop, then a lag chop, then a math chop, then a speed chop. Now you can connect the value of the speed chop to the third translate parameter under the transform tab in the noise. You can now play with the input range and output range of the math chop to make it react more or less.
      Hope this helps :)

      @@DanielSteenhoff Hi, Great Video! i only discovered this app last night, after seeing your video i immediately had to download and try this for myself, thank you for your walkthrough!
      everything worked just like yours, but i tried to do as your above statement to make it audio reactive and cant get it to work. so instead of 'absTime.seconds/10' in the third translate parameter, it is now " op('speed1') " if i am connecting the speed chop value correctly? but all i get is black... i can see in the display video of these nodes that there is movement on the kick drum so i know the audio is working fine... any thoughts what else i'm doing wrong? thanks again! keep up the great work, Subbed!

      Hey there! Great to hear that you're getting into TouchDesigner, you won't regret it ;)
      I would suggest plugging in a Constant CHOP into the Speed CHOP to see how the Speed CHOP works. You'll see that if you increase the value of your constant the speed will start increasing faster and faster. If you've connected your speed chop correctly to the noise top, the noise should move.
      Now try plugging the audio analysis back in, and see if the speed chop behaves the same. It could be the case that it moves super slowly. In that case you should adjust your ranges in the math chop.
      If nothing works you may send the file to my email (it's in the vid description) and I'll try to look at it this week.
      Good luck!
      Daniël

      @@DanielSteenhoff thanks so much for replying! since i wrote you i did visit your other audioreactive videos and had added the constant chop to no avail. but after restarting the mac and app its all good now! (it was something silly like it couldn't read the CHOP reference as a parameter). thank you so much again, i'll be watching all your videos, past and future!
