Thank you! I've had an impingement issue for some months due to an internallly rotated right shoulder (I'm a professional clarinet player) and the exercise at 4:15 is definitely the most effective one I've found for externally rotating my shoulder.

This is good and important stuff. I have had a lot of luck with face pulls as well. I like them because you get the ER and some shoulder retraction as well.

Props from Russia, Siberia. Very informative. Especially the video which helps self diagnosing impingement. I've been feeling pain in the area of big and small heads of biceps after regular boxing bag practice. I restrained from physical exercises for time being.
I tried to self diagnose wether that is impingement, or biceps joint head(s) issue.
When I tried your method, and based on the feelings I am getting, it's kind of iffy.. wether that is or that is not impingement.
Anyway I am trying to restrain from swing movements and anything that causes that pain.
Pain is kind of dull, and I literally feel by touching, that either biceps head swallen a little bit and hurts

By the way though, even though I've been doing exercises to fix my impingement and I have no pain and can more or less train normally, I still ALWAYS have a painless but none the less horrible feeling clicking.

Very informative video. Quick question though, you say to avoid chest isolation movements for about a month to avoid strengthening the internal rotator muscles anymore, does this mean I should also avoid the bench press for this time? It is the exercise causing me shoulder pain. Also, should I be doing these exercises every day or every other day? Thanks

I have never seen, even in the videos of physiotherapists and personal trainers explaining it, an individual with his thumbs pointing perfectly straight forward when in a relaxed position. I get it, they shouldn't be pointed towards each other but fingers pointing perfectly perpendicular to the rest of the body? I've never seen someone with shoulder set back that much. Maybe 20-30 degrees of internal rotation but never 90

+GuerrillaZen Fitness Wow, thanks for your quick answer! I've watched a few Kelly S videos, where he talks about pro athletes lacking internal rotation ( I know it's very common among throwing athletes) but I've never done a lot of throwing, so I don't really know, maybe it's due to a lot of pressing exercises but I've stopped anyway and I will visit a second physician soon. Do you have any drills for regaining internal rotation ?

    • @GuerrillazenFitness
