Romance of Men made some adjustments to the website and now has a lot of customization options. I was not able to include the details in the video but they are active now. Its a good option if you want to stick swirly mitsudomoes everywhere. - romanceofmen.com/collections/samurai-armor/products/custom-samurai-armor
Thanks, now I am saving $1800 for something that I absolutely need. Bath renovation has to sit back for a bit. That "Black & White" themed set is going to be perfect. Hakama - check, special socks and wooden shoes -- check, Katana - check, wakizashi, check) I just need now the real armor to take my Iaido and archery training to the new heights. Thank you, Mathew.
It is extremely cool that they sent you an entire suit of armor for review. I'd love to review armor pieces as well one day. Really good video on this suit!
Others may have mentioned it too but I'm one of the people who told you about the padded belt on the inside, along with photos of me doing it in my earlier samurai armor days. Excellent video and the durability test at the end was a nice surprise. Helicopter of death katana!
Very entertaining and informative. 👍 Just for personal amusement I captioned the walking through the snow scenes as; If Vikings wore Japanese armor. 😄 😉
the cuirass is made of vertical sections riveted together, right? does this confer some flexibility to the armor, or is it like that just because it was easier to craft it this way?
You need to do pics in armor, in the snow, wow, great look! That Helm... Did you mention th3 total armor weight? Oh, one other thing, 1800.00 isn't a huge cost for armor that is user ready. The amount of hours that went into it....would have been pretty extensive. Compare to cost of full plate with all the padding/straps done.
It is made by the same folks at Iron Mountain Armory. It's a very unique style. This one looks like a Gashira type so better than the cheapest quality but not Taisho quality.
ME TOO I WANT WALK 5 MILES WITH THAT KIND OF ARMOR, BUT IN STREETS OF NEW YORK, PARIS OR LONDON JUST TO ENJOY REACTIONS OF PEOPLE ON THEIR FACES (JUST HOPING COPS WONT ARREST ME). XD
If by kneeling you mean seiza, this was not done in armour. In armour, you would have chairs or stools, or you would sit cross-legged or some other way that was comfortable. Standardisation of sitting methods for martial arts - whether koryu or not - is kind of a modern thing.
Matthew, you need to be in a movie. You actually look better than Tom C - more realistic - more mountain man. You would def get a role in a movie. All the best
The shoulder armor bits, are supposed to go on your back as you move. This type of armour was primarily designed for archery, even though nowadays we associate the samurai mostly with the katana, because that was in a way their "id card" and what represented their soul. You can basically pull them in front when you're in a more standing position, or arrows are coming towards you, but they are indeed meant to get out of the way. They aren't the equivalent of shoulder protection on european armour. They are more like portable shields. That's why you hardly ever see depiction of armoured samurai with hand held shields.

Something that I wish was added to this video, was people's reactions as you walked the landscape with the Armoury on😅😅😅... great job Mr. Matt
That might have been fun.
Probably a fair bit of complacency. I'm sure they're used to his shenanigans 😂

Such a great contrast between the bright red armor and the snow white background outside!

It was very cool indeed. It was my first go at reviewing armor, hopefully I did a good job.
Man, I have to say, you look super badass in that armor.
Wow, that brake on the helmet is no joke. I'm glad you're all good
kabutowari woo hoo

This design looks exactly like the Yamamoto Kansuke armor by Iron Mountain Armory. I wonder if they are made in the same chinese factory 🤔
They for sure are, like most bad overpriced replicas of samurai armor

@@franciscosouzaaguirre9688 What makes these replicas of samurai armor overpriced or bad?
4:15 when there's bears in the area, but you want to take your kids outside.

There are a number of kata in katori that involve going to a knee. the guards here prevent that.
@@Matthew_Jensen
There are some light Sunaete that can help. with a fabric and hexagon mesh knee guard.
I totally dig armored dad pulling the kids in a toboggan.
...but did you put it to the croquet stick of doom? Anathar is asking.
one thing i need to know... will it be good for zombie apocalypse?
Does it come in black
Yes... And you can get one in Merica size.
@@Matthew_Jensen I see good to know I'm a fat man after all need that triple XL option lol 🤣🤣
While I am in need of armor,am afraid the Hanwei Hunter, which is coincidentally the same price, has to come first, lol
I don't trust that Hanwei L6. Hope you have better experience.
@@Matthew_Jensen ah,did not know that. I completely trust your opinion so ill shop for something else, preferably bainite, thanks Matt
nice whiskers guy

@@Matthew_Jensenthat's possibly a definite maybe for sure right? 😂

I FIND THOSE ARMORS VERY CHEAP FOR THE QUALITY. ALL HAVE LORD LOOK WITH NO CHEAP MATERIAL OR MAKING OR WRONG SHAPE. REMARKABLE WORK!
Makes a great Halloween costume.
