I can remember being absolutely thrashed by Eric Bristow at the pub I played for in Sheffield in the late 1980s. Every person he played against he treated them to a set of arrows and a drink. Rest in Peace The Crafty Cockney
What a great little documentary. I particularly liked Eric’s face during the match against Keith Deller. They were all class acts and giant personalities back then.
Just think: John Lowe at the NotW got £80k for his 9-darter, at the same time my parents were buying a house for £15k Even with the tax paid, that £80k could have basically set you up for nigh on life, after all, a few houses, rental incomes, further career earnings . . . . - sorted.

Most enjoyable - thanks for this presentation. I have been enjoying recreational darts for years. I still watch the Premier League on the tele when I can find it in the programming. The crowds are fun to listen to and the players are great to watch. The skill level is always top-notch. This game needs more coverage for sure.
@@78tag I certainly don't know it all. The Premier League is on sky sports. Do you have a sky subscription? If so then you can watch it, if not you can't.
What a great docu. Lots of stuff I did not realise about the game historically. But of course the nay sayers are also busy. Its not a sport, lower class, barbaric etc. Players who have reached the top have spent hours practicing . Just like footballers,snooker players ,top athletes.. Its all about dedication .Either you have got it or not. I have loved this game for many years. Once reaching the dizzy heights of the third round in the News of the world championship. ( pub level). I have loved all the great players over the years, and still love the game today. More of this please..
I used to play dart’s, used to practice for a minimum of 5 hrs a day, got to a high consistent standard, won trophies. I know how it feels to win, to lose, to be in the zone.. What a game it is… 🎯
Very enjoyable to watch, remember most of it start watching the end of the 70's as we were able to whats England trough the cable TV and great to see Michael van Gerwen the new players......

Struggling to average that in most games. 9 darters would earn you more money than winning the actual tournament, that is how rare they were. Now there are about 10+ players hitting the same level as he was if not higher. You need ton+ averages to win majors.

Dartitis affects pub/super league players too, it's the most frustrated I have ever felt. All's I wanted to do is play darts and my arm just locked, I could not throw a damned thing. It's all in the mind and still it fked me in the arse.
Just a note on Dennis Priestley, Can t find his best matches anywhere! Played quite a few Final s with Phil Taylor most notably throughout the 90's , Was seeded No.1 Before Taylor ( they both turned Pro at roughly the same time ) , Taylor later stated that it was Priestley whom inspired him to Practice harder which gave him the Edge and "Power" , over his later opponents ! He was the 1st player to have a 3 dart average over 100 In a televised final (and still lost) . he made as many appearances in Final's , as Bristow had in the 80's ! He was the 1st to Win both the BDO AND PDC Championships and imo, the ONLY Player who, on their best game , could live in scoring terms , with Phil Taylor , achieving consistent 100 plus 3 dart averages through the 90's , making for some Excellent Matches with PT ! (94,96 Championship final s especially. (in the day s before Michael van Gerwan ) Dennis the " Menace" Deserves a comment in Darts and what Little i ve seen, he doesn t get it !! Sad! Please, if you own any copies of his rival Matches with Taylor , or anything else, pls post them on here for us to see as their is NOTHING currently . Thank You .

Played quite a few Final s with Phil Taylor most notably throughout the 90's , Was seeded No.1 Before Taylor ( they both turned Pro at roughly the same time ) , Taylor later stated that it was Priestley whom inspired him to Practice harder which gave him the Edge and "Power" , over his later opponents ! He was the 1st player to have a 3 dart average over 100 In a televised final (and still lost) . he made as many appearances in Final's , as Bristow had in the 80's ! He was the 1st to Win both the BDO AND PDC Championships and imo, the ONLY Player who, on their best game , could live in scoring terms , with Phil Taylor , achieving consistent 100 plus 3 dart averages through the 90's , making for some Excellent Matches with PT ! (94,96 Championship final s especially. (in the day s before Michael van Gerwan ) Dennis the " Menace" Deserves a comment in Darts and what Little i ve seen, he doesn t get it !! Sad! He was a great player but he wasn’t second best to Taylor, rvb in my opinion is the second best player of all time, then Mvg, then bristow, etc.
