  • After finally finishing our Selfmade Downwind Boards we could finally test this sorcery. And Oh Boi it's really hard and exhausting. Not only is it super hard to balance on the thin Board, but also the Paddle Stroke is extremely strange if you didn't SUP Paddle before. It's a completely new Movement that takes a lot of patients to master and a few sessions to not feel very weird in your Back. Bein lend so far forward especially feels pretty wrong and makes balancing on the Setup way more complicated.
    But when the third Session came I got lucky and managed to pump up a Beautiful Vampire Boards 7,6 with the Leviathian 1550, which turnt out the be the ultimate Cheatcode for this ypplication. It generates Lift immideatly and doesnt require so much speed for lift oft which does indeed make it a fairt bit easier to get it out of the water. And then once it was flying with the marginal weight of the Vampire Board pumping stays fun, even though my breath was gone before even flying...
    Eqipment Used:
    Vampire DW Foil Board 7,6 & 8,0
    Sabfoil Levithian 1550 & p73 Mast

      Really really exhausting.... I'm on the Leviathan 1350 now too! With Flat 325, 664 Fuse, 75 cm Axis Mast and pure SX Adapter. So far my favorite Setup!!! Especially with 0 degrees in the Stab :D

    Great video! As you already own Gong gear, have a look at their new Sirius series, it goes up to 1,85 m.

      I Would love to try the Sirius in 156/ 136! I think the 186 could be a bit hard to turn but must be super efficient, i will try it as soon I get the chance to :)

    Did you take it in consideration to make it a catamaran style board for more stability? Not super broad just a little, even maybe adjustable for the start to find the right width?

    you should try Hand paddles , it should be so much easier for you

    The Axis 1310 is way more difficult to get going with a paddle that the 1150. I have no idea why. I tries both and sold the 1310.

    Why stop at 1550mm? You need to go for the Leviathan 1750. Or the one from Gong that is 1860mm wide. Would be interesting to see whether those could be kept going by just paddling.

      Having said that I'm really hoping that Axis jumps onto this ultra-wide train too!

      I think the Levithian 1550 could already be kept going just by Paddling :D I'll definitely try the Sirius 186 & Sab 1750 as soon I get the chance to do so! The Glide and efficiency must be insane. However, I think being able to turn and carve the Foil is better than being able to pump it longer. So I think that I'll prefer the less wide Foils in the super-efficient Pump Ranges but I'm very excited to try them all out! Also, the Leviathan 1550 felt pretty "turnable" for what I would have suspected it to feel like so maybe I'll be surprised by the even bigger ones. Still, I think It would have been too big for a good Boat Wake. I would be surprised if Axis would not come out with a 1510/ 1710 or something like that :D

    Is it the board or the wing which brings you up that fast?
    Did you tested your DIY board with this leviathan 1550?
    Than you can make a decision on the first question.

      I'll test my Selfmade Board with the 1550 today so let's see what makes it easier. I think it's the Foil for the Takeoff. However, once you're Up pumping with a 10 kg Board is way way more exhausting than with a 5,5 kg Board...

    • @Nem0_MaNu
      @Nem0_MaNu Рік тому

      @@leo-stief but if you are not able to get up because you can not balance the narrow thing, the 5,5kg will not help at all!?! 🤪

      Its 7,6 by 19 with 100 Liters and the Longer one was 8 by 19 with 100 Liters. The Boards are amazing. I'm on the 7'6 now :)

    Would my dakine (cabrinha) 1300 or 1950 be a good choice?

    • @leo-stief
      @leo-stief  10 місяців тому +1

      I haven't tested either of them, ut judging by sqcm of 1900 sounds like its big enough :) Still, the Leviathan is a true cheat code as it lifts extremely early ;)
