Been using this stuff religiously for the past 8 years. In the beginning I wore a respirator but that becomes an issue over time. I recommend using a shop fan to blow the fumes away from you. Definitely wear glasses and get a good pair of reusable chemical gloves.
I use the Wolman clear coat as well. If you're painting over or it won't be seen I recommend adding a cheap water-based dye.
I always replace the lid with a Shur-line rubber spout lid. Works just fine for something this thin. You'll waste much less.

Great video. This stuff is very hard to find and Amazon will not ship it into my state for some reason. Not sure if this has been banned in some locations or what. As far as fasteners go yes it will corrode non treated fasteners so always use this with galvanized metal which is what should be used outdoors anyway.

You kept saying its a topical surface solution but it suggests letting the wood soak in it for 30 days. Seems that would mean it's intended to penetrate deep into the wood.

How about saying something about cleaning up the roller or brush

How do you open the can? What's the plastic stopper on can lid for?

    • @windsordiy1198

It opens just like a paint can. You simply pry the edges of the lid up with a flat head screw driver. The red tab can be removed by pulling on it. This allows you to more easily dump the solution into something like a bucket for example. Dumping the solution into a bucket allows you to DIP or SOAK the wood in the solution rather than just painting it on. You'll get a deeper penetration from the solution if you dip the wood but I still tend to just paint it on.

Yes, however, it does fade with time.

I understand the manufacture claims this is paintable and stainable. Will a oil base primer stick to it? I have had problems with paint/primers sticking to pressure treated lumber even after the lumber has air dried for months. I need tobuild a project that I can prime & paint after only a few days.

Hey Denny, I personally wait 2-3 months before applying any primer/paint/sealer to pressure treated lumber for the reasons you mentioned. As far as waiting on this product, you should be good to apply an oil based primer/paint over it after 24-48 hours. I've even seen people on forums claim they use this product as a primer. The only thing you'll want to consider is that the color this product leaves behind might be visible if you don't apply enough coats or you are using a light colored paint. 1 year later, my deck still has a greenish tint to it where I applied this product.

@@windsordiy1198 This product comes clear as well. Its called Woodlife Classic. I would use that product instead if you intend to paint.

Once you paint wood you will always have to paint wood because it will always peel off. That is why I never ever paint wood. I stain wood.

Look into linseed oil based paint. It allows the wood to breathe unlike acrylic (plastic) paint that just covers the wood. The linseed oil paint actually soaks in. I make my own.

Can I use this on my car hauler

    • @windsordiy1198
      @windsordiy1198  3 роки тому

Yea I don't see why not. Obviously you'd only want to use it on the wood section of the car hauler. Applying this wouldn't be as good as using pressure treated wood but it'd provide some protection against the elements.

You talk too much. Nobody needs a complete history of treated lumber....
    Ok??
    Just the facts.
