First time I heard Swedish version was the one sung by the great Jussi Björling, the greatest opera singer ever and Tommy did it justice big time! Amazing vocals and so heartfelt. Yesterday he released the English version of this song and it's in another key, so it sounds a bit different, but just as beautiful. Also, his cover of Fairytale of New York with Kirstin Starkey is imo the best cover of that song I have heard
Tommy is a one man band-literally. He can sing, play keyboards, guitars and I believe even drums. And he writes and produces, too. I would love to hear Tommy and Floor duet on this. They both sing it solo. Imagine if they came together on this!
What that song is for you, Gläns över sjö och strand is for me , and I'm so glad he did that one as well. That's an old traditional Swedish Christmas Carol and he does it very well. Merry Christmas from Sweden.
I need to hear that again… well its usually what happens when i listen to Tommys covers. The little touches that he adds to this song makes it so beautiful. He’s also quite skilled doing art. In Majestica’s Glory of Christmas video all the art drawings are done by Tommy himself. 😀
This is my first time hearing this gorgeous hymn sung by Tommyjohansson. It is also my favorite because my mother and her twin brother used to sing this around the dining room table on Christmas Day. As many times as I have listened to various singers sing this, nothing has been as beautiful as my mother, who had a glorious high, clear soprano, and my uncle, an Irish tenor with incredible power and tone. The crystal chandelier above us would tinkle along with their glorious voices. Hearing Tommy Johansson sing this was a great pleasure. He is an amazing talent. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Oh Holy night was also my favourite Christmas song....until Tommy wrote the joy of christmas 😊. Seriously, this was my very introduction into the world of Tommy Johansson last year for christmas and I never left it. Tommy's voice and his ability to transport emotions specially in his native language is just nothing I have ever experienced before. I am so glad you are back to react to songs. You have a very good ear and hear things that escaped me before. Please keep it up. Have a great year 2023😀
No I’ve listened to this song by him in English and it doesn’t even compare to the version in Swedish, the language definitely adds something to the song. He was built to sing in Swedish, not English.
Love your reaction =0) I soo like that you are you....and not try to be somebody else. Too many that react here on UA-cam can`t be them self and tries to make some silly show.
Oh, I so hate those reactions. Also… most of what I do can’t be monetized as I think the message is more important than the potential ad revenue. Music is something that can touch me deeply and trigger all emotions. To share this with you is my privilege. Thank you for noticing this!
Yes this is definitely a Special Christmas Song🎶 This is also Tommy's favorite Christmas carol. The drums 🥁 you heard may be Hannes van Sabaton Floor's husband, but I'm not sure...🥰 Wanted to join the chat but I didn't have a bar to write something...sorry! As always a clear response, and also nice that you add text great 🔝🙇🏼♀️ Happy Holidays with lovely people around you 🎅🏻🌠✨
This one is amazing. But you also need to listen to Tommys "Fairytale of New York" where he is doing a duet together with Kristin Starkey. I am only saying: Goosebumps. 🥰
Tommy is unbelievable vocalist and his voice is just crazy good. You love this song, (so do i), so you MUST listen to this rendition too. ua-cam.com/video/hABOAM3zsjY/v-deo.html I don't know if you already know it, but it doesn't matter. Vocals here is just insane...And the arrangement is gorgeous.
So...yeah...the words are slightly different than the usual English, but...they're BETTER! WAY BETTER! In the English version, the song is definitely tuned to the baby Jesus being born, and leaving it there, though invoking worship, yet focusing on the NIGHT being holy. With this one, I would say it would normally be sung for Easter, as it's focused on the adult Jesus being killed on the cross, then buried--only to go and grab the keys of death and hell, then resurrect Himself back at the grave, then fold his own grave clothes and walk out with angels by His side. This is a "KINGDOM" song (the Kingdom of God)...spoken the way it SHOULD be. This is a WAR song, and it's RIGHT! Plus, it's honoring HOLY GOD...not the the night, which cannot actually become holy. Also, Tommy sang it AS a VICTORY OF WAR song, as was clearly correct, given those lyrics! WOW!!! I just went to look up the original Swedish lyrics to see if they matched what he was SINGING, and they do (which I'm sure you already knew, back in December). So...yes...different, but SO MUCH BETTER, than our English, Christmas version. Don't worry, I'm not going to stop singing the English (weaker) version. It's one of my very favorite songs to sing, and now that my voice is almost all the way back, I DO plan to sing it for Christmas. On the other hand, I'm also now going to learn the (English) words completely, for Resurrection Day use! - - - - - - - - - - - OK...all of the above was written before I am hearing the part AFTER Tommy is through singing... ...and now you've finished, and I'm REALLY excited to send you a copy of this comment, on Patreon. Thank you very much, Carlo! 😀
Something must be wrong with me, but I don’t enjoy Tommy. Yea he has a great voice - Well to me ok voice. Can someone tell me What’s wrong with me? But I just love Dan Vasc. For me he’s soooo mutch better.
I can’t get over the language, it’s such a beautiful language.
This Swedish version is absolutely fantastic!

Tommy Körberg's version of O helga natt is also really good.

He did? HÄRLIGT! I have to see it immediately! (It's my song too.) 🤗
He is killing it. Best ever

I absolutely love Tommy, this particular song, and also your comments. Amazing!!!! 😍
that absolutely gave me 100% goosebumps
As everyone said, this is one song that is actually easy to do a word for words translation. Loved your reaction. Hugs from Sweden.
Best rendition of this song to date. Never have I ever heard a voice like his. He is perfection personified, beauty at its best.😊
I totally love your rection videos hahaha :D Big hugs from a swedish beardo ^^
one of Swedens national treasures!
I have seen this reaction so many times, but I still want to come back and see it again and again. Especially love the comment at 11:04..... 😝
Great reaction! This song is gorgeous. You NEED to hear his version of this song in English.

I'm so impressed by this man. Again, that was glorious! Thank you for supplying the translation. I loved it!
Hi, as a Swede I promise the song is the same version as Jussi Bjorling, the greatest tenor ,
But with a metal back.
Great
That was absolutely masterful. I loff him so much. And yes, this song is at its best in Swedish...
Thank you! I am Swedish but had no idea about this Tommy. Strange. Strange indeed.

Merry Summer days 😉
Tommy! This is so good ❤
And your reaction 🤩
Floors version is Epic too, In Finnish....Mery Christmas
If I’d have been back sooner… I could react to that as well and have it make sense :p
Yes I did...was so waiting to see you reaction to it. 😁
He is incredible and it is surely MY favourite rendition of the song.

Yes this is definitely a Special

No, Hannes did not play drums. Tommy plays all instruments on his you tube videos. I think he uses Brighton Drums by Fredman Digital (VST software).
Love your reaction brother 😊
I'm happy you liked it :)
This one is amazing. But you also need to listen to Tommys "Fairytale of New York" where he is doing a duet together with Kristin Starkey. I am only saying: Goosebumps. 🥰
I’m curious to hear his phantom of the opera as that is one of my favorite songs ever! But rest assured… Tommy will get attention on this channel ;)
@@VikingReacts Yes, that one is fantastic too. And "Una canzone d'amore" especially at 2:38. And ... and... and ... I can list a lot of them. 🙂
He did a English version he released yesterday
Had I known that… this would have been a double reaction ;). Merry Christmas to you too!
You are one of my best reacting UA-camrs. Love your pure joy and happiness in it. Cheers!
What can I say… I just love music fully and in every fiber :). I’m happy to see you like the results of that!
That was so cool🤩🤩 Loved it🎸 You also a Merry Christmas 🎄
The swedish lyrics are very similar
to the english lyrics in this song.
Please do Tommy's cover of She's Gone originally by Steelheart
May i also suggest Sabaton - Christmas Truce so you can have 2 favorite Christmas songs on the playlist for next year :)
