I really love this cover. First time I heard Swedish version was the one by the great Jussi Björling, the greatest tenor ever, according to many people. Tommy really did justice to this amazing song.

One of the best things in this song is that you can hear his northern dialect 😊

Odd listening to in the middle of summer, but I love his version. The first words of the chorus "Fall on your knees" is actually "Folk fall nu neder" (people, fall down now) in the Swedish version. "Folk" is Swedish for "people", but is pronounced a bit like the English "fall". "Fall" is the same word in both languages, but pronounced with a short "a" in Swedish (like in the English "falcon").

You thought Tommys instrumentation made the song more Christmassy.
Tommy has actually spent a lot of time analyzing "what does Christmas sound like?"
And that knowledge came to good use both here, and on his christmas calendar!
And something tells me you will react to the entire calendar this december! ❤🎄🎁

Cool idea.🤘🤗 Your english comes from a old northern germanic language. Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway ,northern Germany. The first "english " was old Saxon

I saw a phenomenal liveperformance with Tommy last week. He was playing with some other musicans from Sweden and he was singing and playing guitar in a couple of songs. One of his performances was Anthem from the musical Chess. I’m just saying: EPIC ❣️ Could you please react to his cover Anthem that he has done?

It's that time of the year again ...! ♥
I very much enjoy your Tommy Johansson reactions.
As a linguist (with Swedish as my first language, no less), I've delved into the reasons behind why so many people who don't speak the language
consider it "harmonic", "melodic" or "singsong-y". Part of the reason, I would say, is that a native speaker of the language will automatically adjust their pronunciation
so that sounds flow into one another more readily. The speaker is largely entirely unaware of this happening. For example, most people will pronounce
the word "pannkaka" (pancake) as 'pangkaka' in naturally flowing speech, just because the mouth "plans ahead" knowing what position that the tongue
must be in to pronounce the K sound that follows the N. This happens ALL THE TIME, in both directions within a word, between words, and in pretty much
every degree of formality in verbal interaction. It's not considered sloppy pronunciation - rather, it's more *efficient* 😊
Unfortunately, it also means that learning to _speak_ the language completely fluently can be a challenge.
    Happy holidays to you! 🤗🎄

I actually have a little bit of a back ground in Linguistics as well. That is so fascinating that Swedish has that intrinsic quality of changing the way things sound to flow better!

It DOES sounds GREAT in swedish, and yeah even better than the English version. The flow of the words sounds great. I hear it now as i am older and swedish. When I was younger i hated the swedish language and lyrics. I was a stupid kid 😂

Sabaton has a whole album in Swedish, Carolus Rex. Most (all?) songs also performed in English... title track is an amazing song! I have yet to learn it in Swedish bc there's a ton of words! I'll get there tho! Have you watched (sorry I'm off my game today...can't remember) En Livstid I Krig live at Gothenburg? That song was so moving... I challenged myself to learn to sing it in Swedish...in one week! Becoming an honorary Swede... LOL!

@harmonicchaos1337 Yes I'm penpals w a couple of the Swedish Team Tommy fans! It's only moderately difficult...I have some base of German, but some words just don't translate well...and my grammar is shit, but I get by like a tourist/toddler! I live w and care for my mom... she'd barely tolerated all my singing Rammstein (in German) now she's like, what is that?! That's not German! Why do you listen to music that's not in English? She asks, as she listens to Los Lonely Boys sing in Spanglish!!

You should definitely check out Raskasta Joulua. It's a big Christmas metal tour in Finland and it's amazing. JP Leppäluoto is my personal favourite singer on that tour; there's a fan-recorded video of him singing a traditional Finnish Christmas song "Konstan Joululaulu" that is actually really good quality. I think you'd like it.
