Eh, may I point out that the Corsa didn't even look right and just pulled out, the dash cam driver had a clear line of sight and a clear roundabout. If you want to get into semantics, they both got to the roundabout at the exact same point.

A woman pulled out on me from a give way the other day and forced me to a hard stop. When I politely asked what she was doing and pointed out the Give Way markings her reply was "I've waited long enough. It's my turn now!"
Who's teaching these people to drive? There are no 'turns' at a Give Way. You Give Way. You can't argue with that kind of stupid.
nope, you just have to avoid being in a collision with it. Give people the space they need to fix their mistakes and really keep horn use to a minimum

@@TheCatBilbo the fix is holding back and letting them out isn't it? Realistically the fix is all vehicles are automated. That would reduce traffic, accidents and allow smart motorways to be implemented as they no longer would rely on vehicle operators being smart enough to be able to use them

1:16 thanks Michael for showing us how inpatient a driver you are. Its a disabled spot too so the driver is most likely elderly and needs more time than someone with a boy racer entitled attitude.

@@japsniper1980 No - but it's a stupid speed to be doing on the approach to a roundabout where you can't be seen by joining traffic until the last few yards. That driver coming from the left probably looked, saw nothing, committed to and began their manouevre... and then suddenly saw Jack. Jack doesn't approach roundabouts with care. Don't be like Jack.
@@stonelaughter that's the problem of these small roundabouts. Nothing in the road design makes the traffic slow down and the difference between right of way or not about 1 second. They have none of the advantages of a normal roundabout and none of the advantages of a normal t-junction.

I wouldn’t say it looks like he’s speeding. It’s not up to the person approaching to slow down, it’s up to the person pulling out to look and give way to oncoming traffic. Jack could see his right was clear so no need to slow but the person pulling on with Jack to their right needed to look and then stop for Jack.
@@otacon5648 you are 100% wrong and I hope you haven’t got a driving licence, I didn’t say he was speeding I said you’re meant to slow down when approaching a roundabout, the rules for a mini roundabout are just the same as a normal one meaning you can’t just ignore the road markings and straight line the thing.

12:06 Lots of people piling on Karen here when I don't think she really does much wrong. The only real fault is she entered the yellow box before her exit was clear. Given there was space beyond the emerging Nissan for two cars, she was never going to stop in the yellow box and she didn't until the Audi turned across her.
The Audi never indicates so how is she supposed to know they are going to turn. She also starts moving before the Audi shows any indication of turning so the Audi should have given way to her.
Some of you in these comments need to give your head a wobble.

Roger - You and many people get that wrong. You can't overtake on SOLID white lined chevrons, but chevrons with BROKEN white lines you can.
No doubt that it was an unnecessary move by the driver, but not illegal
First part of your reply correct. THe second part however (if correct) pulls it back into offence territory. You can use cheverons with broken line boarder if safe to do so and NECESSARY. Given the cammer is catching (just) the car in front and the speed sign on left flashes 30, necessity bar might just be there or at least a in debatable territory.
As much as wrong the lady on bike was, try not to kill people over not giving way.
6:47 Following the layout better would make the Mini pull out less of an issue. A sudden change to lane 2 makes the pedestrian dither, they're not sure if you're going to overtake to steam past & not stop.
Yeh. At 6:50 you could fit a bus alongside Keiran. Maybe the Mini assumed he’d take lane 2 of the exit.
Taking the outer curve of the roundabout would be easier if those folks went slower. That or, at their given pace, dig in and hold on - take the right line and don’t cut it straight.

@FreeHelm I didn't break because initially thought he was just merging in to my lane. Didn't expect him to suddenly slam on to make the exit.
As to speeding up, I was speeding up already as he made his move, I didn't speed up because of him. I was getting up to the 50mph speed limit when he cut me up.

6:35 Phil maybe just back off and let the truck go. You could see a mile off they were pulling out then decide to floor it and get up close to try and put pressure on them. I'll always give truckies far more leeway in these situations as it can be a real pain for them trying to wait for a suitable gap.
He says elsewhere that he was aware of vehicles possibly to his right & didn't want to get side swiped, so moved quickly to get further around. Said the HGV flashed his hazards to acknowledge, so that helps as a 'Thanks, sorry'.
Other cammers would blast the horn & deliberately drive right up - but I don't think Phil was doing that.

1:17 - Michael, a few seconds more patience wouldn't go amiss, you could see they cocked up their first attempt and it's obvious they were going to shuffle out again - not quite the time to launch past full speed ahead...
Very poor lot this week, half were non events then the usual, red light runner, roundabout lane wonderers & cammers tooting at things that didn't impact them in any way, but still make a nice clip to send in..... (Nothing against Exposed: UK Dash Cams, you can only work with what you have).

@7:50 Roger, it is acceptable to drive over hashed markings bounded by broken lines providing it is safe to do so.
And this is what is wrong with drivers nowadays. No it’s not acceptable for car drivers to overtake where there are hatched markings as they are there to warn you of a hazard and not a place to overtake. HGVs and buses have to go over them on certain bends and junctions to accommodate their size compared to the road. I can’t believe people have even liked the comments. We are doomed.

From the UK theory test website: Hatch markings are used to separate traffic and to protect traffic turning right. Where the boundary line is broken, you may enter the area only if necessary and provided you can see that it's safe.

It says nothing of the sort that you cannot overtake on hashed markings. The highway code says exactly what I commented earlier from the theory test website.

@@lewdar_ I have - there are two lanes for the M6 South - Katie starts out in the right hand lane of the two lanes and then tries to move left. The lorry driver did nothing wrong. Try Specsavers...
Cam driver is in the lane for B4065 (this is the only lane on approach marked for this road) then when going onto the roundabout the cam driver goes into the lane marked B4065 (this is the only lane marked this on the roundabout)
This is the Ansty interchange roundabout, have a look on Google maps.
Maybe you need to go to specsavers
There's 1 lane on the approach and on the roundabout for the B4065 which the cam driver stays in....are you high????

@@loftyintentions1985 Another one not understanding the meaning of the word "necessary" in this context. Overtaking is permitted as evidenced by the broken line. To perform the overtake it is _necessary_ to cross into the hatched area. It does not refer to some randomer's personal opinion on whether the overtake itself is necessary or not. Cruising in the hatched area is _not_ necessary, and therefore not allowed.
@@Captainllama I wonder if a court would also not understand the meaning of the word necessary. Was it necessary to overtake whilst more than likely needing to go over the speed limit? Was it necessary to knock the whole 2 seconds of their journey, just to be one car length ahead at the next set of lights. @@loftyintentions1985 It's always amusing when you gently point out someone's misunderstanding and, instead of learning something, they kick off with a barrage of proof that they really, _really_ don't get it. The courts (obviously) do not opine upon whether it is necessary or not for a driver to shave 2 seconds off their journey or be a car length ahead at the next lights. (But your honour, my takeaway was getting cold/wife was in labour/TV programme was about to start. No.) This was covered in my comment, but you wanted to come back quick instead of pausing to think. It seems likely that the car exceeded the speed limit to perform the overtake; the offence here is speeding, not going into the hatched area _which is allowed._ One may use the hatched are if necessary (which it is to perform a legal overtake) and _if one can see that it is safe,_ which neatly covers oncoming vehicles already using the hatched area.

Areas of white diagonal stripes or chevrons painted on the road. These are to separate traffic lanes or to protect traffic turning right.
If the area is bordered by a broken white line, you should not enter the area unless it is necessary and you can see that it is safe to do so.
If the area is marked with chevrons and bordered by solid white lines you MUST NOT enter it except in an emergency.

You can, in that it isn't strictly prohibited, but Roger is correct, you are not meant to. Rule 130 The Highway Code says you shouldn't enter hatched areas unless necessary. I don't think overtaking in such circumstances could really be described as necessary.
And of course there are plenty of videos of people overtaking in such cases and finding either the vehicle they are overtaking wants to enter that area to turn right, or an oncoming vehicle does with the associated risks of that.
@@adambro5480 Highway code isnt always law nor does it acknowledge what the meaning or necessary is. If you are going faster than somebody and need to overtake that car at a legal speed limit, that is literally necessary to continue your journey, although in this case, the car was speeding. Doesn't mean its illegal or not allowed.
