omg! when i was in little mermaid mainstage, all my friends and i would watch what was happening on the little tv they had showing what was happening onstage, and we would recreate whatever scene it was.
I remember in my drama clubs performance of Oklahoma, I played Jud Fry and I was backstage with two other people and we were miming the entire Surrey with a Fringe on Top
The matilda one made me so happy, first time ive ever seen mention of the escapologist because the character wasn't in the movie. Proud to have played the escapologist!
Oh my gosh yes! I am playing Sandy in my school's production of SpongeBob, and right before my cue pearl is singing Daddy knows best, and one half is always trying not to laugh, and the other half is trying to stop them from laughing but they are about to burst out laughing as well 😂
2:19 I swear, I'm not a theatre kid or anything but I memorized that "I know my sister like I know my own mind" sequence like it's nothing. "Congratulations" is a good example of that because I like memorized 85% of it
The cast member @2:35 is getting high. This becomes exceedingly more common as you transition in to university theatre. Once you’ve reached pro theatre EVERYONE’s getting high but everyone remembers the choreo. 😂
As a sixth grader currently in the little mermaid as Ariel, I can confirm everyone dies when you look a kid playing Triton in the eye and call him Daddy💀 2:06
2:06 No, the funniest musical to do in middle school is the Addams Family young @ part because Wednesday has to call her father Gomez "daddy" a lot, which made everyone laugh everytime she said it. And there is a part in the show where pugsley is getting torcherd by Wednesday, and later in the show he askes Wednesday "so your still going to torcher me?" and Wednesday goes "sure, until you get a girl of your own" which if you were older you laugh but leave the younger kids confused.
Oh my god… just found this again. We performed a few months ago and I was cast as pugsley(!!!!!!) And it wasn’t the Wednesday calling Gomez “daddy” (although the girl who played Wednesday kept giggling during practice when she had to say that) but what was worse for me specifically is the bed time story scene when I had to call Mortica “Mommy”. I ended up not saying it for two of the times and it wasn’t noticeable but yeah, the torture line in the show also got quite a few laughs. Had so much fun playing him! Was a wonderful show and made me laugh seeing this comment again. :)
If you guys ever do the shake my hand in character especially in a school production either don’t make it obvious or get everyone in the cast because being the background character when I was in high school and seeing the seniors do this hurt because I wanted to be part of something so bad. Also the band teacher’s daughter got the lead so there’s no way that wasn’t rigged. (I was friends with his other daughter and I went to her house and he even said it)
FR!! In my schools musical this year i was literally in the crowd while they were doing these sorta things and was like "make sure i go :))" and one of my friends even planned something for me (we were doing the passing the phone thingy) yet they still ignored me just because i wasnt a main part
12:58 my high school still used karaoke tracks. I got creative and slowed my lines down and repeated a lot of stuff since they never turned the track on in time.
I remember when I first tried out for my school's drama club. We are doing the production of The Wizard of Oz. I auditioned for dorothy, but I got casted for the wicked witch of the West. It was a good role. This video brings back so many memories.
When I was a rising freshman in high school I went to a week-long theater camp at UNCSA (I live like 7 minutes away from there) and we learned the dance for Revolting Children and we learned "you will be found." That was actually the first time I learned about Dear Evan Hansen and the first song from that one that I had ever listened to, and then almost a year and a half later, my sister and I convinced our parents to let us go see it on tour!
1:59 as someone who was in the suessical i love this. The memories of doing exaggerated dances during amazing mayzie with my insane whoville cone hair is amazing
12:50 This happened to almost everyone in my Alice in wonderland play, when my song didn’t come in time I just started tap dancing as the caterpillar until the song came on lol
I was always more with the tech group, but always thought theatre looked fun. But then again I don't do dancing so oh well. still looked like they were having fun.
at 8:50 WHAT SHOW IS THIS?! the only show i can think of with any chars with this design is Bernard Pomerance's The Elephant Man and it's not exactly a kid's show
ok i found her tiktok it's from a musical called Sideshow. That makes a lot more sense. I was sitting here mentally running through Pomerance's play -- the on-stage nudity, mature discussions of sexuality, the casual racism and mentions of King Leopold's atrocities in the Congo, the *oh yeah they straight up drop the N-word in the middle of that*, with my head in my hands like "oh no kids are in front row??" thank god it's Sideshow
2:44 I feel called out. In our show, we had a scene that we ran once. I was sick, so I didn’t get the script for that scene, and so I was insanely confused on opening night when we ran through the scene 1 hour before the show
Y’all I’m so excited! My school play is getting the the people who help with our local musical production (who is REALLY good) to help with costumes and backdrops!!!!
The into the woods was so nostalgic (I was little red when I was a little kid) and we did the full version of the show instead of the jr version and it was sooo hard. I would totally play that role again im a huge Sondheim fan

2:06 Omg last year in my middle school we did the little mermaid and both Ariel and King Triton were 7th graders and all of us 7th and 8th graders kept bullying Ariel so hard for having to call Triton daddy every 5 seconds, meanwhile the 6th graders understanding on why we think this is so funny was really split 50/50 among them ☠️✌️
when the girl was talking abt hoe many times Ariel has said "daddy" so many times it gives me flashbacks from backstage of Mary Poppins. before bows, Jane would say "daddy" so many times and half of the cast would be laughing and the other half would be so confused. 😭💀😂
