I would love to hear more information about your friend, and any tips or suggestions she has for ways to be more preventative with our daily lives!! Also, thank you so much for sharing your Azure order with us!! The last order I received from Azure, the hard red wheat was really terrible, I think I got the bags at the end of a tote. It was full of dust, debris and lots of little pebbles!! What a chore to go through!! I have been spoiled with super clean grains from Palouse, so this was a shock to my system!! LOL I am so glad to hear that they have new cleaning equipment!! I so very much enjoy your videos and recipes!! I just made your banana chocolate chip muffins today, for the second time. Delish!!!
Awesome! I will consider that. Yes, I have heard stories from people about this. But, luckily I have not experienced it. However, this is why I like to open the bags for everyone to see. I will say with the new equipment every grain seemed super clean! Thanks!
I would love to hear more about your friend's story, what she's gone through, and any wisdom she may have to give us from going through her journey. I've noticed a difference in my Azure order in the past couple months. Much cleaner grains, however - we never had much in the grain we received previously.
Also, I use Sonora for soft white because regular soft white has such large bran pieces. :) Just a good option for people who don't have access to einkorn.
Im not sure if you are aware that the labels in the bags come off fairly easily. I pull them off and stick them onto my storage buckets. The back label has thecdate on it, so i usually try to paste it onto my vucket also.
I haven't tried taking off the labels, thanks! Currently, I have a different color lid/bucket combo so I know what grain goes in what color. But that is also a great idea so that others in my family know what is in which bucket as well. Thanks!
Einkorn sort of looks like cantaloupe seeds! I get my third shipment next week. It is exciting. Have you read the book Good Energy? It talks about preservatives and foods. I started wearing a Dex Com monitor to track glucose levels. I’m not diabetic but was getting close. Weight gain, increasing glucose level, etc. I can tell the effects of different foods on my glucose. I can eat your snickerdoodle cookie recipe with no change to glucose. I’m going to test bread on glucose next. I would like to hear more about your friend.
I'm thrilled to have found you. I just placed my first order with Azure and I can't wait! I grew up eating a lot of processed foods and refined sugar. God bless my mom she did the best she could with what she had and almost always put a home cooked meal on the table. I raised my children pretty much the way I was raised as far as food goes. Lost mom to cancer back in 2012 and have been learning so much about how we source our food and what we eat affects us. Would love to hear more about your friend's journey and what she has taught you. I'm new to the concept of baking with fresh milled grains and I am so impressed with your channel content.
I agree we can only do the best that we can do with what we have to work with. I have seen some interest in her story on here, so I will consider how to present that. Thanks!
We picked up our first order today. What a cool process, very smooth. I didn't understand how they shipped things, I thought I was missing a box (2 items) but a very nice person told me to check the boxes, they put as much as they can in a small space. She was right. My small box contained 2 lbs cherries, barly malt syrup, and a book. For the price, i dont mind at all.
Mushroom popcorn is my second favorite. My favorite is the hull less white popcorn. My husband prefers the mushroom popcorn. It makes amazing kettle corn.
I’ve been using azure for over a year now. Love my drop. Everyone works together well. When missing a product, always let coordinator know, call and report to customer care but, they will say will follow up, haven’t found that to be correct but I wait until after they say will get back to me and call again. Always great about fixing the problem!!!!
New Subsriber! Thanks for sharing your order. I know this is a vlog about grains, but I am curious how you travel, especially in winter. We have a tiny travel trailer and would like to escape the Illinois winters.
Kara, you guys have to try their multicolor popcorn! It's fantastic! It almost doesn't need any butter or anything! And I'm curious to hear how you like the sugar. I find it too coarse for my cookies and such.
I will have to try that one next time! I like the sugar a lot! It tastes amazing, but I agree for cookies specifically, I tend to grab my other organic cane sugar it is finer. But, for all other things I use this one! 😊
I LOVE white whole wheat. Converted my husband and son to WW bread, using white wheat. I used to get it from my local store but they didn’t have the large size as organic, which is where I found Azure.
Thanks so much for the comment about Einkorn bran. I bought 15 lbs to try and have done nothing with it other than include in equal parts with 9 other grains for coarsely ground hot cereal. Which really doesn’t even tell me if I like its flavor since it’s one of several. I am going to try it in my pie crust. I’m a little nervous about its flavor but won’t know until I try! Thanks again.
Quite entertaining! I think it's crazy that I find this entertaining. At the surface level this video is just like any unboxing style video. But the azure ordering, pick up, and whole process is so much different than other ways to order food. So yeah, seeing this makes me want to go buy more food on azure standard! Also, great to know your experience with the missing package. Thanks!
Thank you for being an inspiration to transitioning to a healthier lifestyle. You make it seem easy and doable. We first started by switching to either FMF or sourdough. Now we’re slowly changing to a mostly plant based diet (The Blue Zones Kitchen). I would love to see a video on how you do small batch jams and the fruit flavored simple syrup.
You can get the Redmons Real Salt that is very finely powdered. I use that in baking. I use a little less because it is such a fine powder. I love Azure. I just picked up my order today. I also ordered a 5# bag of Einhorn Berries. Now I can't wait to try it in cookies.

Oh wow. I had no idea. It was the salt causing the grit in my sourdough bread. I was using Redmond. I will search around for something else or perhaps they have a finer grind available. Thank you for the heads up. Very helpful.
Raw sugar is so different than the store bought white sugar. I did my first azure order in July n it was quite easy, other than the hour drive. People are more than willing to help as I’m handicapped from having four bone replacements.
Switched to organic golden cane sugar a few years ago and use it like regular white sugar and never saw any difference in my baking or coffee (where I primarily use sugar)

You can make your own powdered sugar by putting it in the food processor and process till powdered. You can make your own Brown Sugar by adding molasses to cane sugar.
How do you freeze your fresh shredded cheese so it isn’t just a clump of mess when you thaw it? Love all your videos. You have taught me so much since I found your channel.
We shred it and lay it flat in the bag, or on a baking sheet (depending on how much there is) Then freeze it for an hour or so, once it is frozen it can be sealed in the bag, and it moves freely. I hope that helps!
Yum yum yum! I think I will expirement with it more. I just stopped using it so much because I didn't love it with breads, and it's a bit expensive. But, excited to play with it a bit now. Thanks! 😊
Thank you for posting this! I had ordered soft white last year in August and was so upset with the quality. Weed seeds and lots of chaff. I will be ordering it again based off of how clean your grain looks though!!
The mushroom popcorn is my favorite too! I am picking up my 10lb bag on Sunday. You mentioned that back when you got one of your other orders that you got the popcorn cheese for your son. Did he like it? I use the white cheddar all the time!
Thanks for sharing your order details. I have yet to order from them, but hopefully our Amish store will get some in soon. I love green tea too, I love the one too you talk about, have you ever tried matcha? Way healthier than the other one. Happy baking
I had to go light this month just red wheat and plums, but the plums were juicy and rather tasty !! I need to find some "hull-less" popcorn mom loves popcorn but has trouble with the hulls.. those choc covered berries sound yummy ! :) I like the cream cheese culture I want to try some of their other cultures for the farm fresh milk we get locally.
I store the brick of cheese unopened in the fridge, then I open it once we need it for a pizza night, which we like to use a lot of it. So, that gets shredded and used, then I shred a couple bags of it and freeze, I also cut some into strips/small blocks to freeze. Those can thaw pretty quickly, then can be used shredded or sliced. Once opened, we prefer to freeze so it lasts longer, but we do like a lot of cheese! lol Unopened the sour cream lasts a couple months. Once opened, we typically get a few weeks out of it, because it is cultured, it lasts much longer. We eat it all before it goes bad.

Fresh or frozen cranberries and cover with raw honey and let it sit for months. It turns into delicious jam. It's fermented jam.

Yes, I do love to do that at times, but I like to have some on hand as well. Especially if someone else is wanting to make something. Thanks!😊
Hello
Are you pouring the 25# into a 5 gallon bucket or smaller? I'm just curious to know what 25# will fit into. Thanks!
Yes, these are 25 pound bags of grains into a 5 gallon bucket with gamma lids. However, the smaller Einkorn bag was 5 pounds, in a 1 gallon bucket. 😊
Einkorn is great in cakes too and waffles and pancakes. Also pasta. It’s delicious
Yes give them another try! 😊
The mushroom popcorn is my favorite too! I am picking up my 10lb bag on Sunday. You mentioned that back when you got one of your other orders that you got the popcorn cheese for your son. Did he like it? I use the white cheddar all the time!
He did not love the popcorn cheese. I need to keep searching for an alternative for that.
Bread Beckers is not far from us in Georgia.
I love stopping in there when you travel through the area! 😊
Thanks for sharing your order details. I have yet to order from them, but hopefully our Amish store will get some in soon. I love green tea too, I love the one too you talk about, have you ever tried matcha? Way healthier than the other one. Happy baking
My pleasure! Yes, I have some matcha as well, but my family prefers the Sencha.
I'm curious if you've tried milling corn in your nutrimill harvest? Ive been wanting to mill it for cornbread but haven't tried yet..
I don't mill corn in my mill, because my daughter has a corn sensitivity. But, I have heard others have. 😊
Yum plums sound amazing! The ones in the stores around here are kind of yucky, lol. Thanks for watching! 😊
How do you store you big brick of cheese? Also, how long does the sour cream last?
I store the brick of cheese unopened in the fridge, then I open it once we need it for a pizza night, which we like to use a lot of it. So, that gets shredded and used, then I shred a couple bags of it and freeze, I also cut some into strips/small blocks to freeze. Those can thaw pretty quickly, then can be used shredded or sliced. Once opened, we prefer to freeze so it lasts longer, but we do like a lot of cheese! lol
Unopened the sour cream lasts a couple months.
Once opened, we typically get a few weeks out of it, because it is cultured, it lasts much longer. We eat it all before it goes bad.
@@GrainsInSmallPlaces Thank you! I have it ordered for my September pickup! Appreciate all your videos!💙
Do grind your wheat
Yes! I mill all my own flour, I have lots of recipes for fresh milled flour as well! Here is my website for those recipe. www.grainsinsmallplaces.net
You make it feel like Christmas
It does feel like Christmas! 😁
What size bags of grain do you buy. I usually have to use two buckets.
Most of these were 25 pounds. They fit with a bit of room to spare in a 5 gallon bucket. Perfect size for us! 👌
I brew kombucha/Jun with sencha green tea and honey. I would definitely share recipe with you if you are interested.
That sounds delicious! Yes Thanks! 😊
What brand was the cinnamon you ordered?
Starwest Organic Ceylon Cinnamon. 😊

Get their organic molasses and sugar make your own brown sugar as needed cuz that’s all it is.
I have done that as well, and do sometimes, but I like to have some on hand as well. 😊
Unfortunately, people have been taking more than what they ordered from my drop in VB. I hope that is not what happened with your order.
Luckily I haven't had that happen to us! 😊
