Does the 1st example even EXIST IRL? I didn't think we were in the year 2040 yet, and Project Starwars was canned before it was even built IIRC (unless Nixon carried on his work through DARPA and NASA in secret). I thought we were going to seeing REAL weapons that exist, not theoretical, hypothetical or proposed ideas for weapons!

In terms of most to least realistic:-
Could and would / have been used: 9, 6, also 4 (at least on mosquitos).
Available but too scary so haven't been used yet: 8, 7.
Could conceivably be used in the future: 10, 5, 1.
Not like in the movies or stories but could act like mega toxins instead: 2.
      Least realistic: 3.

Kenetic weapons have been around for a long time . During WWII, they had a bomb that contained lots of flachets. These were hardened steel darts with fins. Used mostly to destroy factories in Germany and Japan they were in dropped from a high altitude. These darts would go through the factories equipment rendering them useless without a high risk of fire. Course if a person was in the way, it did not do them any good.
Still you left the ultimate weapon off the list. Man's capacity to think. That is how you got everything that was on your list to begin with.

That sounds like something I heard about in a TV documentary that was about how faithful Platoon was (I think it was Platoon) to the real life Vietnam war. Apparently there was a weapon called something like the "buzzing bee" or "beehive" and it was a tank fired shell IIRC, but it actually shot out 100's of flechettes, shredding people apart, and nobody wanted to use it because it was far too easy to take out your own people with it in some classic American friendly fire. Sounds really crazy.

If you don’t think the us military has ALL these capabilities, you’d be wrong. Even the antimatter one. They say it’s hard to contain. Well tell me how tractor trailer trucks transport liquid helium, nitrogen, ALL those cryogenic substances. If those materials were just in a tube trailer, the FIRST bump would shatter it....so how do they do it? Magnetic fields, so the liquid doesn’t even touch the metal of the trailer.... same principle applies for anti matter

    • @warrensmith2902

Actually its not. There were some times during the Vietnam war that canister rounds were used to break the enemy's charge on a fire base. Canister turns your gun tube into a very big shotgun at very close range. You definitely do not want to be in front of it when it goes off.

    10. Kinetic weapons? The satellite that carries them would be a target.
    9. Thermobaric weapons? They are not more powerful than a nuclear bomb.
    8. Cobalt bomb? You're right on that one. It is worse than an ordinary nuclear bomb but does not accurately state why it was worse. The video states that fallout extends but fallout is normal for any nuclear bomb. The reason a cobalt salted bomb is worse is because it's fallout renders an area uninhabitable for at least a hundred years instead of a few weeks like an ordinary nuke.
    7. Biological weapons? It is impossible to spread any lethal amount of microorganism throughout a large area like an entire nation. Destroying an entire nation is something that nukes can do.
    6. Chemical weapons suffer the same issues as do biological weapons. Both may be used on a limited area but not throughout an entire nation let alone the world. The video cited 200,000 civilian casualties and over a million troops but it does not state if those were deaths or injuries. The latter is likely to have been the case.
    5. Diamond meteorites??? It is not practical to divert the orbit of a small asteroid even with a nuclear bomb. The asteroid/meteorite would simply fragment into a thousand pieces. And why the hell are they referred to as diamonds? Meteorites do not contain diamonds.
    4. Gene drive? It is simply not practical to use such a thing against a population instead of an individual for the same reasons as biological weapons.
    3. Antimatter weapons? The video did a good job of explaining why it is unrealistic. Containment of the antimatter would be impossible especially in small devices like hand grenades.
    2. Gray goo? That's about the only weapon mentioned that might have some potential in the future but only if you want to target the entire planet.
    1. Artificial intelligence? Maybe.
    Overall, this video is BS.

The US has built a laser in orbit with the X37-B over the past several years capable of outputting several megawatts of power in the form of a laser.
In 1998 Lt. Col. William H. Possel of the U.S. Air Force wrote a report on laser weapons in space, Laser Weapons in Space: A Critical Assessment. They basically say by 2020 the US will have a laser in space. These lasers have been in the works since the mid 70's. There have been some claims of them using the laser already. Can you prove it? No. But history tells us that when they talk about it, when the public knows about the plans, it's already been made.

Despite how powerful nuclear weapons are portrayed in media, a lot nuclear warheads are needed for large areas of land. Yes you could use 1 to hit each metropolitan area, but after about 2 months the area is now "survivable" (barring the use of long decay isotope salts like Cobalt)
1 nuclear warhead cannot end life on our planet. There is a maximum yield in a nuclear weapons that depends on the critical mass of the fuel. All of the weapons listed, save for 2 (the rod of God and the thermobaric warhead) are almost unlimited in their destructive ability. A Cobalt salted warhead could spread long lived deadly radiation across regions a single nuke couldn't touch except with fallout. It could potentially radiate an entire ocean with dangerous particles and make fish life until fit for consumption.
A chemical bomb can permanently sterilize the entire planet with a chemical that prevents plant growth or contaminates animal life.
Biological threats replicate themselves, Nanobots as well, same with AI. Meteors let alone made of diamond are of course world ending.
The only thing on this l think my be a bit ridiculous is antimatter. The antimatter-matter annihilation reaction is rather well studied at this point and not exactly ideal for weapons. All other weapons have to be armed or triggered or etc, but antimatter-matter doesn't have that. Once it is created it does not go away until it is annihilated with it's pair particle. The rest of the world is made of it's pair so everything is a trigger. Nukes don't just go off Willy nilly to the slightest shock or what have you, they are very delicate pieces of engineering and are required to go off correctly to be anything more than a "simple" dirty bomb.

@@draykegoddard8484 no one cares that your 12, anyone with a mental capacity can quickly learn the basic fundamentals to nuclear fission and fusion concepts. BTW tear gas and chlorine don't explode or spread radiation "Beacause they are about the same amount of explosives that spread radioative fall out like urainium 235 "

I would prefer god rods than nuclear bombs because nuclear bombs make its entire destruction radius uninhabitable for thousands of years, so I vote space harpoon

Thermobaric bombs are definitely the most interesting. They are technically not as destructive as nukes, because they don't cause permanent pollution, but you can't really hide from them.
