mate if you already did everything whats the purpose of making the video then
'98-'02 is not that simple. You'd need to remove the whole center counsel to get to the bulb.
How to remove the centre console, 😅😅😅 tried it can't figure it out
@freecake1723 There's a bolt that's covered by the glovebox, so you'll have to start by removing it first. Then the cover beneath the steering wheel. Then there are some bolts inside the armrest. And so on...
@@freakinrican2919 so I have to remove glove box
Wow, thank you for this video! Ours has been out for at least 10 years, and we haven't bothered to fix it. Now I'm going to try and fix it soon.
Your welcome, good luck hopefully goes well 👍👍happy to answer any questions
@How to channel It definitely helped! Got the light back on and working again. It's so nice to be able to see the lit up gears again!
@@bryceno5385 I’m glad to hear that it worked out, same here, once that light was back on we’re in business 👍👍
You should clean it while you have it apart
😂😂
So inarticulate with your instructions. You didn't say or show which direction to apply pressure to the plastic clips. Such as left , right, or up or down. They will easily break if pressure is applied in the wrong direction. Show us , and /or articulate the details. They are very important. Duh.
Nice video really helped but my 1997 Toyota Corolla the bulb was size (194)
I'm glad that the video was helpful, and if your not sure about bulb size I would show your old bulb to an auto parts store to find a matching bulb
apparently on the 98 model this was too simple for Toyota
really useless tutorial when you can barely explain what to do lol
My replace bulb came on had no idea which bulb it was till i realised driving at night the shifter bulb when out. Now ima do this tomorrow
My 2001 requires removing the front console piece as the shifter plate is screwed down. The console trim has to be removed in order to get access to the bulb.
My Avalon has screws. Do I unscrew those to get to bulb?
Yes, I would unscrew them so your able to reach bulb
Great video thanks
Thanks for your video , could you please tell me the bulb size in order to buy in on line because most of the stores don't have these bulbs
Your welcome, I'm not sure of the bulb size, but I know it's a generic bulb, here's a link to auto zone where you could purchase it, www.autozone.com/electrical-and-lighting/vanity-mirror-light-mini-bulb/p/sylvania-longlife-mini-bulb-2721ll/16865_0_0?cmpid=LIA:US:EN:AD:NL:1000000:LIG:8360267458&gclid=CjwKCAiA6Y2QBhAtEiwAGHybPYN4R-o16TKine_P4TipoZ4NMvSW2XDkbJCZwC1NB52DPe94zFCGOBoC2hQQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
This type of bulb can also be found at lowes, here's a link

Its not coming out for me i head it screws on?
The bulb is somewhat deep seated in the socket, just have to hold onto the bulb with some firmness and gently pull the bulb out. Anymore questions I’m happy to answer 👍
158 for this, 194 for my dash lights.
Doesn’t with this way on a Toyota Corolla 2002 LE
It’s should be very similar to the 97 model, anymore questions happy to answer 👍
thank you.
Car name plss
Good video. Thanks!
Excellent thank you
going to do this snd clean everything well while I am at it
So, those 4 plastic clips... How do you pry them out without breaking them? It would be nice to see that part.
Right? I don’t want to attempt it and then they brake. Did you try it?
@@Angel-lc7vu yes, I did it. Don't pry them, just work with the walls of the box. Squeeze them.
@@sergisamongas I got it! Just need pliers or something to pull out the bulb. My hands are almost too big
Use masking tape. Take an 8 inch piece or so and wrap around half the bulb then pull on tape to pull out.
Will this work on a 96 corolla as well?
Good question yes it should👍
I'm about to do my 96 carrola and the clips look similar to everything in this video...
Mine is a 194 but a 98 Corolla same light as video I put a blue led in mine
Yes it works but video was not sufficient
It takes a 194 in a Toyota Corolla 1998.Got to replace mine tom. The one in video is a 194
The video here is for a 1997 Corolla. I looked at another video for a 1998 Corolla and it looks completely different. The video is called : Toyota Corolla shifter LED light replacement part 1
Since you have a 98 Corolla, can you comment on which video applies to your Corolla? The bulb placement in the 2 videos are completely different. And the way to access the bulb is also completely different. I'm asking cause I have 98 Corolla.
Another thing is somebody in the comment section of that video said that a 194 bulb is way too big and that you need a 74 bulb. So confused.
its a t5 74 bulb
@@vyvanse70mg That confirms the comment I saw in the other video. Thanks! 😃😃👍👍
Do you know where the the o/d button is to turn it back on from off
Good question to be able to turn on the light of the shifter, near the steering you have to turn the knob for the headlights and it should also light up the dash with the shifter. If you have anymore questions happy answer👍
