    I love this video! I am in the same position. I lived in South America for a few years and now I am in South East Asia. I am about to return to the UK to take time to decide. Travelling around constantly can get draining, it feels nice to have roots and a forever home. I was thinking of Portugal also. I have a similar dream to live in a rural area with land and nature all around me. Organic food, a peaceful life, a flower garden.... but the question is where? sometimes having so many options creates more stress and over-thinking. I hope you find your forever home where you can enjoy a beautiful life in nature. Amazing video!

    Or you could rent an apartment in the heart of the city with a rooftop and then put a greenhouse on the roof and order organic wild blueberries and such delivered to your door by Amazon. Or, Thailand has great nature as well, isn't the beach only about 2 hours drive from Bangkok? Maybe even closer for Kuala Lumpur.

    Have you also looked at Turkiye, Albania and Montengro? Regardless, a major problem is growing old and frail in a foreign land.

    • @mrdamianking

    I spent some 3 years in Asia between Thailand and Taiwan. Then spent near four years in Bratislava, Slovakia, followed by three in a small town in the Basque country. Despite holding Muang Thai so dear I felt I had to propel myself onward lest i regret staying, ironically my biggest regret over the years was not settling in Thailand and reaping the satisfaction of being so embedded in a place it becomes you. But really I don't regret seeking the nature of Europe, just regret leaving people behind if anything.

    I tried the Netherlands for 2 years very disappointing meeting a young Scottish guy in the Netherlands who spoke French fluently with family in France he went to live in France. After graduating from university for free in Scotland. Greetings from the Philippines it will be my third month in a row here usually before only 30 days

      @mrdamianking thanks bro. Yea. High rents. A digital jail. High taxes. Xenophobia. Immigration issues. Money focused culture. Demographic collapse. Dating difficulties. Hard making friends. Low value language investment. Drivers licence not globally recognised. Etc etc. The main good is the cycling and marriage law from what I can see.

    I'm a similar age and lived overseas for the past 19 years - Singapore, Edinburgh, Kyiv, Montignac, Phuket, Southern Spain & Dubai. Now finally content in Russia because of it's leadership, politics, family values, food & rich culture, hands down it's a win!!. A close alternative is Muscat Oman or Tbilisi Georgia (providing they stay away from the EU & Nato)

    • @mrdamianking
      @mrdamianking  4 дні тому +1

      That’s a fair few places you’ve been to Craig. Russia? I certainly wasn’t expecting that! But, I’m also not surprised. The strong leadership is something most of Europe is sadly lacking, especially the U.K. unlike most of the U.K. mainstream media I’m not anti Russia, But I couldn’t imagine living there.. for the same reason I can’t stand Phuket. I’m sure you know what I’m pertaining to.

    Could you have the best of both worlds? That's what I'd do if I could afford it: buy some rural renovation project in Portugal or France and live there less than 183 days a year and keep it as the plan B for when you're 70. Then live the life in SE Asia the rest of the time. That wouldn't work if you're living off the land though, once you';re growing stuff and keeping animals, you have to stay there really.

      @ Not as yet but planning to. Been over and it’s very modern with a good vibe and has good health care which is important. Rural areas are quiet and green with nice people of a good mix religion wise. A healthy community happy people. You don’t get that in Europe unless you go off grid. Plus weather wise you have to put up with the weather/proper seasons. Property wise new builds everywhere including gated at across the board prices. I could go on I just find Malaysia ticks the box’s. Good luck with the research.

    Lived in France. Full of French. Portugal is not Spain. Spain as you said is full of Brits. Bulgaria seems to be all the wants you want.
    SE Asia beats them all into a cocked hat. But. I found too many buts. it starts with not being able to own land. As you said do you want to be there when you are 70. Just look at 70 year old ex-pats and you have the answer. 40 years ago the best place would have been Australia, but politics has wrecked it and trying to get a Visa over 40 - no chance. Nature in Spain and Portugal is bland but the nature in the UK, which is one of the most nature depleted countries on the planet, is suddenly fantastic?
      North and North West Spain may pleasantly surprise you, especially Galicia. You won't find many brits holidaying there, you won't even find many Spaniards holidaying there. Amazing food, endless outdoor activities, mountains and beaches. If you learn Spanish as well it's a great base from which to branch out into Latin America. Which is a whole new adventure waiting for you. Good luck on your search! I am in a similar position to you but have spent time in South America rather than Asia.
