woooooooo!!!!! best vid of 2020 award love this, karen will love this cant wait to give the spoons to her happy 45th love. This inspires me to make my own instrument called the fork hope it goes well.
I’m 88 years old have just gotten my first spoons and am trying to learn but all the videos I see go to fast I would like to see a routine that could be used with about any music but would want it shown in slow motion
You can slow down the speed of any video on UA-cam. It can be very useful! I’ll explain how below: While the video is playing, if you tap the settings button near the top right of the screen (it looks like a gear), you can select a slower playback speed.
I didn't know these instruments existed, so thanks for that in addition to the tutorial. I like the sound of them better than metal spoons, which are so high-pitchy to me so I can't listen to them for long despite my interest in learning to play the spoons in general. : /
@@heritagemusicalspoons7687 I just bought a class set of 30 Large Spoons from GDI Gabriel Dumont Institute for the school that I teach at Father Vachon School or in Michif L’ikol p. from Gabriel Dumont Institute in Saskatoon! This video is perfect for learning how to really use them! Marrsi / Maarsii / Thanks
actually they aren't technically Musical spoons, they are Cat-Paws although very similiar and almost makes no difference in sound except that its wood and kitchen spoons in america are traditionally metal
Metal spoons are klinky and no, they're not traditionally metal in "america". Québec is in America and still, the spoons used for music have *always* been wooden. The spoons used in this video are made specifically for music and serve no other purpose, therefore they *are* musical spoons.
The spoons were played regularly with Irish Trad Musicians in the past...mostly because of the three main rhythms in Irish Music..the reel, the jig, and the hornpipe. If you play them now days at a session you're apt to get a belt of one of them over your head..If you don't believe me check out "The Spoons Murder" on UA-cam. Check out my style on my channel..but don't try it out in Ireland..😆
these aren't really spoons mate, you're selling out to the instrumental spoon industrial complex. stay core bro, pay respect to the spoons that came before you
By far the best musical spoons I got. Great feel and very comfortable to play.
Just got one as a gift. Never heard of them before but this is freakin sweet!
Same here, lo! My mom went to Quebec and brought me back one! Glad to know I found someone who also got them as a gift.
I just ordered a pair off of Amazon! They’re arriving tomorrow and I’m so excited!!
Thanks so much for your instructional video and sharing with the world the wonderful art of playing spoons!

The g in spoong is neither silent nor invisible
This looks so fun but not sure I can justify spending 70 bucks on musical spoons at the moment haha
