Very nice! Thinking of this for my harley davidson. Thank you...where are u located?
Texas
Congrats on the 1000 subscribers and that powder coat looks great!!! I have a couple of questions, 1)what did you do the chain on the ironhead? 2) I've powder coated polished aluminum before and seemingly the process of polishing drives the polishing compound deep into the pores in the aluminum. No matter how much I clean it I can't seem to get all the polishing compound out of the aluminum and then it out gasses during the baking process and makes little bubbles and eruptions in the finished powdercoat. I've tried multiple times and have stripped and recoated parts all with the same result. I do preheat before spraying. I was having particular problems with a set of ironhead rocker boxes and brought them to a professional powder coater after I tried and failed twice. He did them twice and could not remedy the problem. What do you think?
Consistency and always trying to improve the quality of my videos is what got me to 1000 subs; thanks and hang in there. I used Ink Black by Prismatic on the chain, I think. Here is the link to the video ua-cam.com/video/zmoCRM2upvo/v-deo.html
And then hand painted the rivets with modeler's paint. The older Harley Davidson castings have alot of nitrogen pockets in them, this happens when aluminum is cooling and the casting mold is not sealed well. Aluminum in a liquid state is like a sponge for nitrogen while it's cooling. That's why I've been reluctant to powder coat the older Harly castings, and for some reason the rocker covers are the wost about having these N2 pockets. If you have a rocker cover that is trash/nonrepairable send it to me and I will experiment with it. The rear brake drum covers are even worse in some cases.
So you didn't sandblast or sand or anything on the chrome? Just cleaned and powder coated? Thanks in advance for any info i am currently trying to learn myself!
None what so ever. All I did was thoroghly clean the chrome. First with soap and a wet cloth and then acetone.
@@CycleFab i actually just made my firat powder coat video couple days ago and was asking this very question and I actually powder coating a chrome part matte black to see how it comes out... seemed fine to me too
Thank you for the video
You're very welcome. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Ok so I want my plenum to be powder coated in this copper color how ever right now it’s a rough metal finish if I were to polish it up and get it as close to a mirror finish as I can do you think this powder coat would work?
Yes! Absolutly!👍
What prismatic color code did you use ?
I'm guessing this wouldn't look good over black rims
Probably not. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Awesome video once again, I do have a question however. I have a chrome piece that I was thinking the copper would look great on only there is damage to the chrome in a noticeable location. Would the Trans Copper II be able to hide the imperfection?
No, actually it would augment it.
Just make it out of copper
