: Exploring Abandoned Anything can be dangerous or Deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures a only leave footprints. I assume all the risks & responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. Their could be nails, Asbestos, Falling concrete soft floors, animals or other hazards. This is so sad to me. Clearly there was a child living there, and based on the amount of toys and clothes, clearly wasn't uncared for. The paint, furniture, and doors all must have been VERY nice back in the day. The place feels like the husk of what used to be a home to a family. They probably had too many kids and decided to make the addition, even if they couldn't afford to get it done well. The entire place sort of feels like walking through your high-school after decades of life since graduation. There are memories stored there, just out of reach.

those are fine sentiments, eloquently expressed. but that's how old abandoned houses go. the remaining stuff was already unused and unwanted. the kids would have grown up and their old clothes remained packed away, slowly going out of fashion. it seems callous to say that it's just meaningless old junk but... when it gets dumpstered/arsoned/bulldozed, the new owner can build something that's fresh and alive.

I love the field stones. One of my mother's sisters' lived in an old homestead , that had been in her husbands' family for well over 150 years & they used field stones as a foundation. When they added siding, the field stones were left & I figure they are still there today. My aunt passed away in 2001 & her oldest son sold it. Made his other brothers unhappy as well as family members. We had wished he had wanted to live in it as it was up to date. Shoot I would have bought it. But some people just want to get rid of the old things. He died in 2010 & his wife in 2016. His father died in 1997.

@@imho2278 We help fund homeless shelters, food banks, this makes more sense. The people getting to move in have to help with the remodeling needed done, it is a kind of pay it forward type thing. They learn how and pass the knowledge on to the next. Our tax dollars already go for so many failed "help the homeless experiments". Why not help them in a more meaningful way? So they can get a home and stability to get back on their feet.

The "plug up compass" looks like what was used to turn and turn TV antennas before the invention of cable or satellite.

When I was little, my mom had that old Texas Instruments tv home computer. It was odd playing games on the tv back then. Wow, that's a blast from the past!

This place would actually be worth taking out anything of value, monetary and historical, before it's sold. Because when it is, they'll probably just come in with a bulldozer and turn it all into landfill. Places like this can have a few gemstones scattered throughout all the junk if you look closely.

I think the best thing to do with that place is to bulldoze it to the ground and build a new property.

What’s the problem? It’s cleaner than my apartment was in college 🤷‍♂️

It might be technically salvageable, but the cost to gut and clean and renovate everything would probably be more than it would to tear down & rebuild. Even here and now, my cousin paid way less to buy land and build than to buy an existing structure.

Whoever lived there was very musical. There is some serious vintage music equipment in that bedroom, and the piano downstairs must be worth a few dollars!

More than likely this house was lived in alone by a musician and radio enthusiast. They more than likely died in the mid 70s and one of their children moved in modern day. They neglected the house, got rid of nothing and more than likely neglected their kids. God this is depressing. Weird to think about what you might leave behind if you left tomorrow.

Why do I guess what I said? The audio equipment, instruments, radios, retro computers, probably some ham radio equipment that got sold for heroin by whoever lived there.

all jokes aside I like to see UA-cam videos on automobiles. I don't know if you really like all automobiles, but the way you're thoroughly describing this property and the walk through it reminds me of how someone would do that with a machine. 🙂👍

The "compass you plug in" is an antenna rotator controller. Used to turn tv or ham radio antennas to get better reception or send a direction signal.
