By the wonderful France Gall. 😍 Perfect song from the 80s and unforgettable from the first listen. It is a tribute to the great singer Ella Fitzgerald and also to the African-American people who have contributed enormously to world music...

I agree with you that there is something special about French music, that's mostly why I'm trying to learn the language. This song is great, like many of the songs she sang, Another Michel Berger song I've discovered recently which is great sang bye France Gall and Johnny Hallyday is " Diego Libre Dans Sa Tête" The amazing thing about both versions of this song is that they are so different yet equally as great as each other.

Song about Ella Jane Fitzgerald (April 25, 1917 - June 15, 1996) was an American jazz singer, sometimes referred to as the "First Lady of Song", "Queen of Jazz", and "Lady Ella".
She was noted for her purity of tone, impeccable diction, phrasing, timing, intonation, and a "horn-like" improvisational ability, particularly in her scat singing.

The translation Shahin Reacts was reading misses the title of this song which is repeated all along the theme: *"Ella (Fitzgerald), elle l'a"* ("Ella, she's got it"). It's a French phonetic pun.
Ella - the first name of Ella Fitzgerald - sounds the same as "elle a" ("she has") and "elle l'a (She has it" or "she's got it")" in French.

The title is a play on word with the name Ella (Fitzgerald, famous female singer) and "elle l'a" which means "she's got it". Ella, elle l'a - Ella, she's got it. Meaning she has something extra that no one else has.

Shahin Reacts : Hi! Shahin. For her live show called «Le Tour de France 88» (1987-1988), France Gall wanted the participation of all the American brass Phenix Horns. She performed with them the jazz finale of the song «J'irai où tu iras», an extract here ua-cam.com/video/WKAFZfeUsqg/v-deo.html. But you can watch the full live video on UA-cam.

Hello Shahin, I have a feeling that French and French artists are ignored and despised by English speakers! I don't speak English, but that doesn't stop me from listening to songs in English, but an Englishman won't listen to a song in French. Well, recently with the Internet, it's easier to find the translations of the lyrics than in 1980 and the artists' videos are available on UA-cam (subject to acting rights). Whatever the origin of the singer / singer).
I am not objective being French, but if English speakers would take a little time to learn about French or French-speaking artists. They or they could not miss France Gall, Michel Berger, Daniel Balavoine, Jean-Jacques Goldman solo or with Michael Jones or the group Fredericks Goldman Jones, Jeanne Mas, Mylène Farmer...

You don't know Ella Fitzegrald? So read more...
Dubbed “The First Lady of Song,” Ella Fitzgerald was the most popular female jazz singer in the United States for more than half a century. In her lifetime, she won 13 Grammy awards and sold over 40 million albums.
Her voice was flexible, wide-ranging, accurate and ageless. She could sing sultry ballads, sweet jazz and imitate every instrument in an orchestra. She worked with all the jazz greats, from Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Nat King Cole, to Frank Sinatra, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman. (Or rather, some might say all the jazz greats had the pleasure of working with Ella.)
She performed at top venues all over the world, and packed them to the hilt. Her audiences were as diverse as her vocal range. They were rich and poor, made up of all races, all religions and all nationalities. In fact, many of them had just one binding factor in common - they all loved her.
