Seems like a nice kit. Not cutting the driver side upper link bracket off is pure laziness though. Make it thorough and do it right.

Thanks for the feedback Randy! So I wouldn't call it laziness, I would call it smart. Why spend the time and energy cutting off a bracket that will have no interference with the system?

@@IronRockOffRoadfor cosmetic reasons. You don’t want someone to look under your vehicle and see that you only did half the work to make it look complete. It makes the installer look incompetent. There’s no reason to keep the bracket since factory components will not be used again.

@@jeepinrandy78 We see what you're saying Randy, and we hear you. The beauty of this debate is that you can do it (remove the bracket) or not. It's your choice. Maybe your installer wants 2 hours labor to remove that bracket, clean it up, prime it, paint it....and maybe you want to spend those 2 hours on getting a steering system installed instead. It's not about laziness or competency. Its about flexibility. :-) You are more than welcome to remove your bracket! Many people will. But if you chose not to remove that bracket, I for one, would never stick my head under your jeep and think to myself, "wow, this guy is just lazy and incompetent." Instead, I would be thinking to myself, "DANG, That long arm system is so awesome! I can't believe how easy that looks to put in! I NEED this for my JK!!!"

@@IronRockOffRoad I see that. All I’m saying is it’s cutting corners. You don’t see high end builds or specialized shops leaving brackets like that just because you don’t “have” to cut it off. I mean, if you’re going all that way to do that much work and a nice upgrade, why not go all the way, instead of cutting corners and doing the bare minimum? Just my opinion. Take it as you will.

Well at least if that upper link breaks on the axle, you can reattach the old upper short arm to get home.

assuming you could bolt on the brackets and weld them for extra strength

Yes, the brackets are steel and so is your frame, so welding is also a possibility if you want!

What’s the difference between this and metal cloak ?

@lifeinvader9032 Both our front and rear JK long arm kits are fully bolt-on, no welding required. Our front long arm kit for the JK requires no drilling, simply cut off the stock brackets and you are ready to bolt-on the new front system. Also, if you already have springs and shocks that you like, keep them! We sell our long arm kits as an upgrade to your existing lift kit to save you money! We always engineer our kits to have maximum ground clearance, pushing our joints up as high and tight as we can get them with the longest arms we can fit. We utilize a true 3-link suspension design for the best geometry throughout the entire suspension travel. If you are in a northern climate that sees snow and salt, we have found (through independent testing) that our powder coated brackets and arms retain their finish much longer than zinc plated. Last but not least, we design and manufacture it right here in the USA with same or next business day shipping!
