CCR played like a Louisana swamp band but they were from Calif. When you think of Americas great bands, CCR would be at the top of the list. For a jam try their cover of "I Heard it through the Grapevine". Ten minutes of pure bliss.
Cosmo's Factory is their best and most iconic album IMO. I love that you listened to the song twice. I know when I find a new song I love, I like to replay it over and over again. It's like a magical thing.
OH, Silas. I Wass waiting this moment. CCR is ICONIC. When I Wass young, almost teenager, every body listen this very famous group. I'm Spanish, but in my village there was one militar American base, and we can ear his radio and all his music. Any way CCR there was very popular in the work. I PUT SPELL ON YOU, I HEARD IT THROUH THRE GRAVINE, FORTUNATE SON, and a long etc
Silas… what a fun reaction!!!!! 😀 Ha ha…. It was awesome that you played it a second time! CCR have a TON of songs that you will love just as much! Looking forward to when you hit them again!! “Bad moon rising” “Lookin’ out my back door” “Green River” “Down on the corner” ETC!!!!!!!! 😀
My buddy and I were driving from Houston to Colorado in 72 and we listened to them the whole way. Proud Mary is a must listen. They have the best traveling music.
Credence is well known for writing songs about social and geopolitical events in the 60s and 70s (give Fortunate Son a good hard listen). However, John Fogerty wrote this song when his brother Tom was leaving the band. It was originally a song about hardship and anguish. Fogerty later said it became a happy song for him because the song has a rainbow in it, and his daughter is a rainbow of hope and happiness in his life among the storms🙂☮
John Fogerty’s longtime drummer is Indiana University grad, Kenny Aronoff, class of ‘76 (classical music). Kenny was also an associate professor of percussion at IU from ‘93-‘97. Each year the “Aronoff Percussion Scholarship” is awarded to an IU percussion student. Kenny is a first-call, A-list drummer who has recorded and toured with many of the greats (Willie Nelson, John Cougar Mellencamp, BoDeans, Skynyrd, Pumpkins, Seger, Satriani, Etheridge, Bon Jovi, etc, etc.) John Fogerty is still touring so if you have a chance to see Him live it’s worth it. He is still in top shape like a young Springsteen (physically & vocally), and gives you your money’s worth every night!
Creedence Clearwater Revivial is Blue Collar Rock. When I was 13-years-old I was in a huge line at Sandy Springs High School to register for classes. I brought my Sunoco transistor radio and an extra battery to listen to while I waited in line. Skinny Bobby Harper on WQXI had an all Creedence Clearwater Revival Program all day for back to school. And I enjoyed it, I still remember how Creedence help time fly.
You don't know what to do with yourself when you start feeling it. Lovely thing to see from youngers, getting education and having fun. Good on you brother.
It's good to see you back. Thailand must have been interesting, would be interesting to hear. But something really struck me when you picked up that guitar for a minute, and from the point of view of the multi-instrumentalist of several decades, what you were doing with your right hand really made me think that you would instinctively be a good bass player! It is so hard to pick a favorite album with CCR for me because it's one of the very few bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd in the Beatles where I literally like every song off every album that they ever did. I like every single Creedence song off every single one of their albums. Pendulum is indeed a good one, and really they're all good, and their first one is a longtime favorite of mine, I fell in love with that one at about the age of 19. But if I had to pick, I really think but good cross-examination of CCR can happen on their incredible album, Green River.
You are in a wacky mood today, lol. CCR are awesome. John Fogerty writes awesome songs, he is a fine guitarist and has an amazing voice. A friend lent me a greatest hits CD years ago and after one listen, I bought a box set of their entire catalogue! When I saw the length of your reaction I thought, Silas must have a lot to say about such a short song. So, I was pleasantly surprised when you played it twice. It is one of those really infectious songs. Many of theirs are.
Many of CCR’s songs are about the various issues in the ‘60s (Vietnam, Civil Rights) Many thought the “rain” was referring to such. But Fogerty says the song is about his brother leaving the band.
Sweet. From a purely recognition standpoint CCR must be my favorite band. I can identify CCR rapidly. Once, some other UA-camr was at a Russian flee market and bought a really old record player. He popped on an old record and, yep, it was a CCR tune. And he only played a few bars due to copyright worries. I zeroed in on CCR almost as fast as clicking the link here.
This song is good but it is pretty tame. Get into the rest of their greatest hits. If you do check them out further, do the l o n g versions of the songs. "Suzy Q" for one. "I Put A Spell On You" for another.
They were cool. My sister would only let me listen to her CCR album with her strict supervision. We loved them. Still do. He's still performing. He a folk singer to me.
When I think of the "classic rock" genre, CCR is the first band that comes to mind. They are the definition of classic rock. It's mind blowing how many great songs they created in such a short amount of time. As others have said, "Cosmo's Factory" is the album to check out first.
Cosmo's Factory would be my recommendation for an album. For your next reaction to CCR, find a lyric version of the song you chose. "Bad Moon On The Rise" is famously heard as "there's a bathroom on the right." Lyrics are helpful for the noobie ;-) Their whole catalog is great and some are iconic - some of the best music the late 60's, early 70's had to offer. Enjoy
There's another famous band also from El Cerrito, CA: Metallica. Maybe you've heard of them? I was born and raised less than 10 miles from El Cerrito (north Oakland.)
This is only one of their good songs. They have *MANY* that are this good. Green River, Born On The Bayou, Who'll Stop The Rain, Run Through the Jungle, Bad Moon Rising, The Midnight Special, the list is very long! You should also check out John Fogerty's solo songs. Centerfield is played at baseball games a lot, and The Old Man Down The Road is so good.
This song has had some fantastic covers over the years. The ones I'd argue are even better than the original include Bonnie Tyler's piano-heavy rock version and Jonathan Clark's ballad version. Worth checking out.
I'm concerned. If you listen to all their great music, you'll DIE of happiness. They don't HAVE a bad song. Anyway, GO for it. Thanks for your reaction.
Silas you have to hit 'Born on the Bayou', 'I put a Spell on You', 'I Heard it Through the Grapevine' and 'Graveyard Train'. The best album is all of them. They only did 7. Thanks. Cheers ✌
Fortunate son was intended to highlight the "wealthy, good and great " families getting their kids out of military service in Vietnam and highlighting how the poorer and everyday normal people were doing and dying to support the elites in that conflict, Compare the situation now where someone like D Trump avoided service and disparaged Senator Cain who volunteered to serve and was shot down tortured and came back after imprisonment with the Vietnamese. Trump presents himself to represent the all American dream and many of the peoples families who were enlisted are part of his target group for support but he has little respect for anyone who is not wealthy enough to be in a position to dodge service as he was able to do. Cain was everything Trump never could be.
Pendulum is actually their worst album which should tell you how good the other ones are. The best album might be the one called Cosmo's Factory. You should just start out with their first one and go in order. They are all magnificent. But if you don't have time then you should definitely check out their albums Born On the Bayou, Willy and the Poor Boys and Cosmo's factory
I would say that Mardi Gras is their worst album, but I agree that Pendulum isn't one of their 3 best albums. The album that "Born on the Bayou" is on is called Bayou Country.
@@otisdylan9532 yes, it is. I couldn't remember the name so thank you. I forgot about Mardi gras. Wasn't it pendulum where he let the other group members write songs? Whatever album that is, that's the one I was trying to use as an example
For a full album CCR reaction, my choice would be either Willy and the Poor Boys or Cosmos Factory, with Green River as my 3rd choice. It should definitely be one of those 3 albums. "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" is a great song, but the Pendulum album as a whole isn't as good an album as the 3 CCR albums that preceded it. Two great CCR songs that aren't on any of the 3 albums that I recommend are "Proud Mary" and "Born on the Bayou", so I would check out those 2 songs individually.
Hey man. Can you please check out Taj Farrant...Crossroads. Australian blues player. He's 14 years old. There's a video of him playing with Carlos Santana at the house of blues in Vagas when he was 10 years old. Just started a USA tour this week. Peace ✌️
CCR chose their sound deliberately. It was a departure from everything else you were hearing. Trying to get back to the basics, counter to the established counter culture at the time.
This is your first CCR song? Huh? Man I’ve never heard of that album you mentioned. Never. Just go with the hits. Cosmo’s Factory was my first record purchase, but the previous albums are also good. Don’t do the one you mentioned. If you like this song, watch out. It gets better.
Fortunate Son is a must!!!!
Their cover of "I Put A Spell On You" is phenomenal. One of the best covers of any song, ever. And arguably the best cover of that song.
I agree that “I Put A Spell On You” is the best!
Yes the live version from Woodstock. Also "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" is considered to be as good or better than the original Motown version.
Air guitar anyone?
For a couple year 69-70 (?), period, Credence was the biggest American band. Huge success.
CCR played like a Louisana swamp band but they were from Calif. When you think of Americas great bands, CCR would be at the top of the list. For a jam try their cover of "I Heard it through the Grapevine". Ten minutes of pure bliss.
Silas, Up Around The Bend, Down On The Corner, Travelin Band, Proud Mary, are many great songs by CCR
YOU KNOW GOOD MUSIC YOUNG MAN
Cosmo's Factory is their best and most iconic album IMO. I love that you listened to the song twice. I know when I find a new song I love, I like to replay it over and over again. It's like a magical thing.
Agree! Cosmos Factory all the way.

My buddy and I were driving from Houston to Colorado in 72 and we listened to them the whole way. Proud Mary is a must listen. They have the best traveling music.
Do "Bad Moon Rising." It's even shorter than that one. So many of their songs are excellent!
Credence is well known for writing songs about social and geopolitical events in the 60s and 70s (give Fortunate Son a good hard listen). However, John Fogerty wrote this song when his brother Tom was leaving the band. It was originally a song about hardship and anguish. For a CCR album, by all means choose either "Willy and the Poor Boys" or "Cosmo's Factory." These have the range, grit, and soul you'll want to hear.
Yep, you’re on it. And CCR will stick with you for life-that’s a promise.
John Fogerty’s longtime drummer is Indiana University grad, Kenny Aronoff, class of ‘76 (classical music). Kenny was also an associate professor of percussion at IU from ‘93-‘97.

"This is going straight on my playlist".....remember this phrase.....you're gonna need it after *EVERY* CCR reaction. Enjoy the ride.....
Follow this one up with "Born on the Bayou". You wont be disappointed.
CCR, Born on the Bayou. Great song. CCR has many great song hits. Fortunate Son, Run Through the Jungle, Bad Moon Rising.
Born on the Bayou, the song and the album! Killer!
Absolutely adorable...and how music resonates in your soul is a gift you behold you give to others. A dopamine fix is what it is 🤟😎
One of my favorite bands. I grew up with CCR. Peace!
Yeah they have some long songs but back in the day the radio wouldn't play anything over 3 minutes usually.
You don't know what to do with yourself when you start feeling it. Lovely thing to see from youngers, getting education and having fun. Good on you brother.
Loved the reaction. For an old person like me they have always been great. Dive deeper and enjoy.
You are reacting the way we all did when we first heard it. Very gratifying!

Cool! Plenty great songs from CCR. If it is possible to choose just one, I'd go for Born On The Bayou.
Yes, they were the hottest band in the world in 1969-70. Very deservedly so.
Extened version of Heard it though the grapevine.

Fortunate Son, Born on the Bayou, Bad Moon Rising, and the classic cover of Proud Mary - really can't go wrong if you pull from Chronicle, Volume 1

Metal singer "Dan Vasc" sings "Amazing Grace". You REALLY need to hear that man sing. It will change your perspective. Promise!
