Another good one, nice work. I'd discourage any viewers from using engine assembly lube on synchro rings- you dont want something with a ton of friction modifier soaked into the material. Use whatever oil you intend to use long term on the synchros, and assembly lube on the bearings. That transmission has been rebuilt previously, you can tell by the brass synchros with holes in them, it was a common earlier trait of aftermarket synchros. Im sure all the bearings you pulled off were koyo/nachi/ntn. Generally speaking, countershaft 5/6 usually take somewhere around 20-30 tons to take off, but far less to put back on- your HF20 ton will do the job just fine on reassembly.

Thanks 🤟🏻 And yeah I used engine assembly lube because that’s what I thought torque king did with there’s and they seem very reputable and rebuild them really often. I realize after that they used the assembly lube on the bearings and synchromesh on the rings.. so I did make a mistake on that but if that’s the only mistake I made on my first trans rebuild then I can’t complain haha. I definitely could tell the trans has been rebuilt before. Everything was way too healthy for 400k miles haha. The 20 ton didn’t cut it for reassembly either haha even with some heat. Had the 50 ton press the gears back on and it still put up a little fight with that. But both shafts are fully back together now and everything was lubed so nothing will be dry when it’s put back together. Should be nice and healthy now and go good hopefully. Now that I’ve done it and realized how simple of a process it was besides being time consuming I’m alright with opening it again down the road if/when needed.

I am the builder from the torque king video lol. Yeah they arent too bad, find a used 50 ton on marketplace when they pop up, and youll have the ability to knock one out real easy.

Oh for real? that’s awesome 😂 any tricks to help lining up the shifting rails? I’m currently at that stage and got them all in the correct place but can’t get the little center puzzle to fit all together haha. I’ll try and pick up a 50 ton In the future. There’s a shop 10 minutes up the road that helped me out pretty quick and cheap this time around tho
