My older brother had a large collection of Redd Foxx albums. I was not allowed to listen to them, but I did anyway. I sneaked his albums out when he was at work. My friends and I loved Redd Foxx.
when I was a kid, my parents played these records at parties. I was supposed to be in bed sleeping. Instead I sat at the top of the stairs and listened to Redd Foxx, Pigmeat Markham, and Moms Mabley. I had to clasp my hands over my mouth so I wouldn't laugh aloud and give myself away.
I grew up watching Redd Roxx as Sanford and Son. I have great memories watching him do his thang on T.V. I lucked up on hearing one of his albums as a teen. He was a very funny dude and was taken way to early from us. He did it his way. Sad that his heart attack stick he made famous on Sanford and Son may have taken seconds away from life saving measures been given to him on his comeback sitcom Royal Family set. His comedy is definitely missed. Thanks for sharing this album.
@@reelblack I don't like them....I LOVE them! Again, much appreciated! Do you happen to have "Laff of the Party Volume 2"? I am dying to hear the "FUCF" joke, which I have not heard in years and I cannot find it ANYWHERE. Thanks!
I'm 33 as of this date, I don't know whether to b ecstatic I was able to bare witness to such greatness or b mournful cause today's comedy lacks the intellect and witt Redd was bringing by the ton and he was still underrated in his day. A lot of these jokes go over the heads of most folx of today. The small hats funneled the game whr u gotta b a visually goofy clown kinda comic to make it now a days.
Part of that is because comedians these days don't tell "jokes" and do storytelling as such. They do observational riffs, which is very hit or miss. These older comedians knew how to tell a story that would take your mind to another world with a beginning, a middle, and end.
Foxx, Pryor, Eddie Griffin, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy, Katt Williams, Bernie Mac, George Carlin, Robin Williams, Ced the Entertainer are the greats of comedy
I sold all these lps 1,2,3,4,7, & 8 without digitizing. I was never able to locate vol 6. There is one where Redd plays with his band on the LP. These are fabulous. Can you post more?? Thanks. Dootone was not Redd's own label. He was a very competent musician but most people only know him from Sanford & Son. All these LPs are extremely funny and were sold in brown paper in the record stores when we were kids. Than ks for posting this!!

Genius comedian. Before my time, but I love him. He inspired so many comedians and comedy in general would not be the same without him.
But Jamie Foxx tho
