Thank you for mentioning the struggle to protect Windy Bay (1984/5) which led to the protection of Moresby Island from profoundly destructive industrial logging and mining. I was there in 1982 and the logging practices were brutal and disgraceful. The protest led by the Haida (and many were arrested for their trouble) were supported by people like Green Party leader Elizabeth May and David Suzuki and his family and these protests led eventually to the creation of Haida Gwaii National Park and other important, precedent setting agreements that recognize the Haida Nation as having Aboriginal title throughout all of Haida Gwaii. We all take this for granted now but it was a monumental battle in the 1980's!! Remain vigilant because it can be subverted and lost in a heartbeat.
I really enjoyed you taking me along on this very informative and beautifully shot adventure to one of the few pristine places left on this earth......Thank you!
Wow! What a UA-cam find. Excellent commentary and videography. It is doubtful I will have the opportunity to visit this place at my age so this video is very much appreciated.
I found this video not logged into UA-cam on the smart tv so tried searching you from my UA-cam account with my iPhon and it goes to Rivers and Roads. So I searched with the name of the Haida Islands video and found your Channel. It’s a good video and the self sufficiency advice is good although not required it can enhance a stay. I visited in 2023 and took my bike and was glad to have that added mobility. I was even asked where I rented the bike . I liked the Mount Moresby shots. Some of it looks recently glaciated. And I like your postcard references
Thank you for your comments and feedback. Searching UA-cam and finding my channel is tricky as Im a small fish in a saturated ocean of media. Though I will keep plugging away and hope that in time the searching becomes a little easier. Glad you had a wonderful experience on Haida Gwaii, it is certainly a very special place.
@@RossKakuschke I was not aware of the ‘rules’ that said I could not or should not. That said I have great respect for burial grounds and will take your advice into consideration in the future.
wow
Stunning! Your calm and informative narration just adds to the feeling evoked by the landscape. Bravo!
Thank you very much!

Largely promotional. In the states, HG has a reputation of being a logged-out stumpland.
It grows right back
Nice to see you completely ignored the rules and filmed the cemetery. Utter disrespect.
