    Unbelievably biased video. The Haida were the most murderous slave owning tribe in the Pacific Northwest, out a bunch of drives of murderous slave owners.

    Thank you for mentioning the struggle to protect Windy Bay (1984/5) which led to the protection of Moresby Island from profoundly destructive industrial logging and mining. I was there in 1982 and the logging practices were brutal and disgraceful. The protest led by the Haida (and many were arrested for their trouble) were supported by people like Green Party leader Elizabeth May and David Suzuki and his family and these protests led eventually to the creation of Haida Gwaii National Park and other important, precedent setting agreements that recognize the Haida Nation as having Aboriginal title throughout all of Haida Gwaii. We all take this for granted now but it was a monumental battle in the 1980's!! Remain vigilant because it can be subverted and lost in a heartbeat.

    What make the lake so blue? Incredible shots Gavin! Your drone footage has really paid off. What an amazing place and trek up there.

    • @RoadsRivers
      @RoadsRivers 3 місяці тому

      @@ChristopherWinslow-d2v Thanks Winslow, I appreciate your comments. Not entirely sure as to why the lake is so blue, but there is a chalky white residue on the rocks in the stream that feeds the lake from the upper basin (alkaline) and I assume the same residue coats the lake bed. The water itself is crystal clear but these minerals are certainly a factor in influencing the color. Additionally, there are very low concentrations of algae in the lake resulting in high clarity. It is a deep lake and the blue light wavelength passes further down into the water column, accentuating the rich blue color. Multiple factors.
