Just faced one. Simply go for supplies and mini bases at a rapid rate to counter. Against a yapyap, you collect supplies faster, but spend 100 per unit. So 1 extra unit only, then a late 2nd extra is perhaps idea. Build a colony leader then detroy either before of after upgrade to colony
Some good tips there! My additions would be: As Banished, against Forge, Kinsano and Jerome, build choppers. Y ability ram damage against early vehicles is broken, and it staggers/ cancels Kinsano's "Y". If you notice barracks/ raid camps pumping units, build choppers or jackrabbits. I believe due to weapon and armour types they do bonus damage against rush units. Mines can be effective at decimating rushes and providing limited visability on likely attack routes to help you prepare. If against a Hunter/ Goliaths, try to do as much damage to the goliaths en route as possible so they pop their engingeer swarm too soon. Against Shipmaster, always build two watchtowers on your base in case they go for a hero rush. Johnson bunkers no longer take crazy damage from mine and turret drops, but they can still half health the bunker. If against him, either build some building killers in advance, or tech to 2 for cloaking/ smokes. Yaps will always try to steal your minis. Jeromes like to mass infantry ealry rush (so they can mastadon them up later), so dont go too heavy into the anti infantry as a bit later on you will need anti vehicle. Broken and you'll always struggle with. Serina parking her icecream truck in front of your base. Anti vehicle turrets can help but they are rendered pretty useless with freeze #needsfixing! Yap Yap - as soon as his hero unit and broken invulnerabilty/ heals appear, its game unless you have built for it (which is pretty hard to do)! #needsfixing! Lastly, many, many players will go air (becuase it's broken) following a rush. Prepare according! See you all out there.
On top of the scouting potential of a jackrabbit they have detection which is nice. Funny short story I once left a jackrabbit on a base to die once and it actually destroyed the base. They never noticed it.
I think another important tip is making sure your opponent doesnt steal a near by mini. As voridus with combat spoils i always use my recourse on the nearest mini so I can quickly pump out more units closer to the enemy.
In the years that I’ve been playing halo wars 2 i’ve always had this strategy of just getting a leader out whenever I am getting rushed and it has always worked for me I’m surprised you didn’t mention heroes as a good counter to rushes but yeah I’ve used that little strategy since day one if I see a whole bunch of scouts or infantry I just get up my leader cause the only leaders that can’t hold back a rush by themselves are shipmasters elite and yap yap because you need more than one for them to be affective

It's a braindead tactic and unless you prepare for it the first second of the match someone can be on top of your base with a full pop of hell bringers in 2 minutes. An rts game being over in under 5 minutes is not strategic or tactical it's just cheap. Anyone can watch a UA-cam video on how to rush on unsuspecting players. But having a real hour long push and pull battle and coming out on top takes a level of skill and brainpower most rushers don't have. No rusher will ever get any respect from me. The fact this game makes it so easy to do is crazy to me but then again most game companies appease braindead players these days. I'm not saying to not play aggressively and rushing at like 7-8 minutes with tanks, infantry, air and etc. Is fine. But if you are one of those people like I said who are on top of someone's base with hell bringers or jump pack brutes like 2 minutes into the game and you just spam them you are scum case closed.

Dude i have a buddy who only uses super units (Serena&Condor) gets tech 3 at 10 mins and then a condor at 12 ish. Its so fucking annoying. Lol. Hard to counter that that early on imo.

My friend found a dirty little combo. Suicide grunts + teleport pretty much guarantees they wont be splitting or killing them with snipers.
