This is what I got out of the video about the different Tech levels. Tech 1: Basically be mindful of how much power you're using and don't waste it on high cost attacks like vortex - No hero unless needed for attacks (saving energy) - No grenade throw upgrade unless rush attacks (saving energy) - Upgrade generators or save energy for Tech 2 - No snipers if you aint gonna use them (saving energy) - Not always a good idea to buy units even if they only cost a little energy, a few wont make too big of a change though - Buy units or other stuff that don't cost energy - Early game mines can be pretty good (use for defense) - Xbowing and second bases are bad in the beginning (someone please explain to me what Xbowing is) Tech 2: - Focus on building units, have 50% of your population on the field to have smth to work with - Have units prepared to defend you or your teammate in order to save time - Diverse units, vehicles and air units, also start getting hero upgrades. Tech 3: - UPGRADES PEOPLE UPGRADES (sorry) - Max upgrades for units that you'll use - Max out leader
Coming from Starcraft 2 back to this game and hearing "don't expo immediately" is giving me mental whiplash, given that i'm used to having base 2 by minute 2 in many cases. Thanks for making these guides.
I played this a long time before knowing about Team Respawn, but it's first now after learning more about the game from these videos that I'm seeing big progress so yeah, I too appreciate it :D (sorry for replying to your comment about this)
Imo another exception to the expo pre tech 2 rule is if you plan on rushing to the other side of the map and taking their expo for the purpose of training units to send to their main base while also hopefully wiping out both armies as they scramble to destroy the base and rushing force.
As someone who firmly believes in playing in a standard way, I suggest grabbing an expo every time you tech up. You don't need more than 3 generators a game. One for each tech would allow an upgrade every minute. You should also build enough supply pads to support your army. An example of this would be 2 supply pads to have a steady productions of marines or 1 supply & 1 gen for Hellbringers. A Rts game is played in phases. That is why you see most games end in tech one or 2 by pro players. They take the small advantages and convert them into much larger ones. That is the definition of a strategy. If your games reach tech 3 often, it is a strong indicator of missed opportunities.
Scouting is so important if you want to turtle and tech fast. If you see flamers, a few snipers worth of energy can be the difference between early defeat and a successful hold even with turrets
the trick to get to reck 3 in 5-7 min is to go with ordered followed and mind set first build generator up grade it when done secound build suplie pads 3 off them and up grade them while trying to save 500 suplies for secound gen when you get 2 gen font spend any energy period and just use all suplies to put units out in the field and try harras or get control over objektives and when you get to reck 3 on base then go crazy and upgrade everything you can and make sure to have the right units agains tright enemy
Every time I get bots(teammates) and play defensively the only way for me to come back I found was two condors my hero Jerome with the mantis and only nightingales when I have the heal and the Garbo drop always comes through it doesn’t work always but as long as you don’t lose too much of anything after the battle drop all smokes to cover army to heal then immediately charge the other base while converting to all ground and anti air units once you lose condors etc you have a small defensive army keep pelting the enemy so they can’t recover and then once your army is full full charge mind you using your bad teammates as cannon fodder helps as well

Why oh why are you discouraging people building heroes/upgrading units in favor of getting to tech 2 fast? Like I dont have a hard enough time fighting 2v1 for the middle while my teammate tries to help with his 3 opening marines. You get to tech 2 like 15 seconds later if you can fight for the middle and nodes. But you get there with an army

Xbowling doesn't exist, he's saying "expoing", as in expanding, which is building a second base :p and good wrap up :)

If you have existing units out do they receive upgrades automatically or do you need to build new units to use the upgrades?
They automatically receive the upgrades. The notable exceptions are Johnson's bunker among others
