That why Id go with zip ties instead of gluing the mesh directly to the back of the grill. You epoxy/glue the tie brackets to the back of the grill. Just cut the ties and replace the mesh and re-tie. Had diamond shaped and after a few years decided to change to octagon and ties made it really easy.
Are you not worried about restricting the airflow to the Radiator ? I would like to do this to my car but the mesh covers more area and I am worried it will be bad down the road for the car. Can you confirm if I should follow through with this?
The aluminum woven mesh I used in this video is less restrictive than the pattern that was in there from the factory. Air flow should not be a problem in this application.
Sometimes that's possible and sometimes it's not. It usually depends if the factory grill has multiple layers behind the front shell or depends on how far away the openings are. In the case of this F-150, the main center openings are clustered close together which is good for doing a one sheet install but the sides are a bit further out that I would prefer. An additional challenge with doing a one sheet installation is finding a way to keep the center area flush up against the back of the factory grill. It could have been done with the F-150 in this video but I felt like the multi-piece approach was a better fit for the project. Here are some videos where I did a one sheet installation that you might like: ua-cam.com/video/Zpe4VghwaCA/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/5KZEylNiJXI/v-deo.html
So i want to do basically the same thing- with a black plastic honeycomb mesh on a 2006 ford ranger xlt- to try to copy the appearance of a 2003 ford ranger edge
I think that would be possible but you'll need to change the install a little bit since the plastic mesh won't wrap around the openings like the metal meshes will. You might want to checkout this video for a different approach: ua-cam.com/video/Zpe4VghwaCA/v-deo.html
This has been explained a couple times in the comment section. Sometimes one sheet is possible and sometimes individual pieces are better. If you check out my other videos, there's many installs where one sheet is used.
lol wow you did the hard way man lol fck , i used thoses old satellite dish screen mesh n cut it into shape of the factory grill and from the front i slide it inward agast the factory plastic grill mesh n screw it in - ofcourse after i painted my colour to match my o4 avalanch.. ok you wonderin how can i screw them in , i cut thoses satellite tinmetal into small strips to go threw thoses little squard platic n bentin them. now screw has something to grab. hope i explain it lol
I'm not sure what year / trim Fiesta you have but I have 2014+ ST Fiesta pieces available here: www.customcargrills.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Ford-Fiesta-14-ST
Mike Franke You have to check your aluminium with an aluminium magnet. if the aluminium magnet sticks, you can be sure that it won't rust. it's the only way to make sure you have high quality aluminium. most hardware stores have them so just make sure to ask.
Kayla Langston Walmart, and most Truck stop chains carry it(TA/Petro/Pilot/Flying J/Loves). If you go to the craft section at Walmart, there's a better product called E6000.

customcargrills I like real videos where people dont edit out the difficult bits ot screw ups. Thanks for the video anyway. Is that glue that good? I just bought some.
This is one of the earliest videos I made, from several years ago. Over the years, I've made a lot of progress with the way that I cut and install the mesh; including symmetry of the mesh and lining it up correctly. You should check out some of the newer videos I've made =)
Such a big stupid project that wont hold up the long run and will never be cleaned properly...just should have sent the plastic grill mesh pieces to be hydro chrome dipped. This DIY is nonsense.
What if I told you that today, March 23rd, 2020, the grille looks about the same as it did when I made the video 2069 days ago? I can make a follow-up video if people think the install is trash, can't be cleaned, and will never hold up because it's still perfectly fine today as it was then.
Amazing app. It helps visualize everything into perspective.
Id like to do something similar but with large black honeycomb
Mike, the aluminum wont rust but it will corrode over time. Polishing it up from time to time will usually keep it looking good long-term.
I’m glad I found this video and your company!
I would have tried to leave on the tabs and cut mesh to slip over tab for more security with the glue. Just a thought.
You couldn’t click in the tab though with the grill over it. It would cause it to protrude out too much obviously.
That’s pretty cool and seems pretty easy and looks good!
really good instructional video thank you..
not a criticism, nice job you could clear cote prior to fixing after you have formed the shape
thank you man! I hope to do this to my Mini!! ill def post and share!
I look forward to checking it out!
Have you done an install using the plastic grille? I'd like to learn for myself.
Great job man!
is that goop heat resistant will this work on a bonet / hood scoop?

Wanted to see it installed
So goop will keep the metal connected to the plastic? I’ve tried a few other epoxies and none would keep the mesh onto the plastic
Yes, the Goop works great for bonding mixed materials together, such as metal & plastic.
Jose, the app is available for iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
Were did you purchase mesh

Hi I I have a 1995 Lincoln Mark 8 what part of the grill broke I would like to replace the whole grill but I'm not for sure how
Hey Benny, depending on what broke, that might be repairable or might not be. I saw you sent me an email and I just sent a reply.
Dang this video so well done like a 3 M video
so why cut the new grill into pieces? why not glue it in one piece?
Sometimes that's possible and sometimes it's not. It usually depends if the factory grill has multiple layers behind the front shell or depends on how far away the openings are. Hey man, I have a quick question, would using Galvanized Steel work?
Sure. It'll be harder to work with though.

That depends on the size and style. Everything is listed on our website.

Hi guys!
How many Goop tubes did you need for this job? (how much is in a tube ? )
Thanks!
That's a good question. I made the video so long ago it's hard to remember. My guess is that it was (2) 3.7oz tubes.

Great Video...very professional. Thank you !!!
a very nice job.
Hot glue??
