Hibernia and Eire refer to Ireland, the former being the old Latinate term and the latter (actually Éire) is the native Irish name.
That saying "me kara uroko ga ochita" (the scales have fallen from my eyes) actually comes from the Bible, apparently. I also only learned it when I started engaging with Japanese media, so I guess they like it more over there.
