Okay but what if you were heavily drinking before you knew? Like you got black out drunk? Why only focus on the “couple of drinks” narrative?

Can you wear a nicotine patch while pregnant? I'm 3 months. And I'm trying to quit smoking.

Does vaping before you know your pregnant harm the baby?

I would also like to know this, the first month or so after my primary estimates I got pregnant I was vaping since I could control how much nicotine I was getting vs a cigarette. I was mixing 3mg with 0mg at that point. Not nearly as much nicotine as in a cigarette, but I'm still concerned if it could've affected something even though I completely dropped it once that test said positive. 🙁

Not a doctor or a med student but I do know that nicotine and caffeine cause your veins to tighten/constrict which would make it more difficult for blood to flow through them and deliver all the things your body and baby needs so that's probably why doctors say not to do it.

    What about secondhand smoke ?

    • @cr8736

Secondhand smoke is still smoke, so just like it can possibly give you lung cancer, etc even though you weren't smoking it, it can still cause problems for you since you're still breathing the smoke in indirectly. Since it can cause problems for you if you're breathing the smoke, things from that smoke can pass to baby through the bloodstream and cause problems for them as well.
If you want a detailed answer about the risks and longterm problems, I suggest asking a doctor at your next visit or doing research on reputable studies done on the effect of secondhand smoke on developing babies.
