      I love my 96 del sol. 5 speed and no power steering. I've also done a lot of mods. Still my daily driver too. I would say, tint the windows and get a strut bar. Dels are known for a little body roll.

    Nice ride. My wife and I own two. When you start modding remember the less stock it is the less likely a dealership will agree to try to diagnose problem it has. And take it from my experience there can be issues the online community and local mechanics don't have a clue about and Honda could be your last chance to fix her.

      Is it realiable buyin a 94 DEl Sol nowadays? I got one on sight. A black one. I fell in love with it but i'm a little bit confused about purchasing an old car. even though it's well maintained. Thx!

      El Eze it’s reliable and the Manuel version is very good on gas. There’s nothing wrong owning an old car. Most of the time it’s more reliable than a new car lol. From my experience

    Just a gorgeous car. Saw a white one at work the other day in the parking lot and was captivated.
    I used to have a red 1989 Toyota MR2. This great video certainly took me back to it--the T-Tops were very similar to the top on the Del Sol and they slipped right behind the two seats. Genius. And such a lightweight, incredible ride.

    Also another cool thing about these cars, youre going to easily be using all 120+ horsepower and you wont be going over the speed limit, where as if you have a car with lots of HP, its hard to use all that HP without breaking the law>

  • @Addicted2airplanes
    @Addicted2airplanes 6 років тому +2

    FYI the targa top locks on top of the rack in your trunk (not under). The metal rack lifts up so you can lift the targa top and still have most of the trunk space underneath.

    Great video man! Also good job on the camera work and editing. I used to own a del sol and i really share your love and enthusiasm for the car. I never got why people show no respect for it but im not a car enthusiast so i assume they have their reasons. All i know is that i had a lot of fun driving mine, got a ton of compliments on its looks, and it never gave me any issues. I got it up to 240k miles, it was my first car, and i was a lousy driver so, i always forgot to change the oil, or do tune ups in general, i crashed it once, some crashed onto it when it was parked, they tried to steal it twice, and that car just kept on going. Unfortunately i had to sell it because i was in dire need of cash but once i can afford one ill get me one as a daily driver. If you keep it in the condition that its in that think will keep its value for ages, a well maintained crx from the 90s will run you 3 to 4k if its stock. And a stock del sol will also sell for 4k , since i started looking ive noticed the prices go up on them. So yeah man, definitely keep it stock. And dont sell it unless you sell it to me.

Hard to find but struck gold on a 1995 D series VTEC with clean title and almost flawless both interior and exterior. Flying out to Florida tonight to go get it then driving it back to Denver, CO. nice purchase man. i also just got a 95 SI in Frost White, just like yours about 2 weeks ago. My dad had one brand new in 93 and i've loved them since them. I had a 93 back in 02 which didn't last too long. Wanted another for the past 15 years and finally pulled the trigger. so far i've lowered it, added an exhaust and intake, redid the audio and fixed a couple minor issues. working on redoing the seats as they were well worn and rust fix is next.

    • @africanabbey
      @africanabbey  7 років тому

      Man! Seems like this is a car that has really made a deep impression on your life. I'm glad you pulled the trigger on a new one! How're the mods holding up? Sadly my Del Sol broke down today lol I think I jinxed myself with this video and saying how reliable she is, but I still love her :)

    • @jimreuss
      @jimreuss 7 років тому

      Mods are going good. She isn't my daily driver. I was worried about the ride comfort after i lowered it but i did it right on coilovers this time, the exhaust is a little loud too, but i love it. Hope your mechanical gremlin isn't anything major.

    • @africanabbey
      @africanabbey  7 років тому +1

      Thanks really cool. I'm glad but surprised that lowering it didn't hurt the ride quality. What kind of coils did you get? I think it's just an issue with the ignition coil though.

    great to see someone that has another car like Mustang that also has respect for a Honda also. not many cars can replace a car on sunny day with roof off and there wasnt many hardtop comvertables. i drive HRV as my main ride but wanted something better on fuel also, HRV not too bad around 37/38mpg but then i remember these CRX and had to get one, VTI model in UK with Transtop roof which driving careful can do upto 43mpg. ive also got a Samba Green one with manual roof like this. love what Honda do and reliability, ive modded my HRV to 1.5 vtec-e but need to mod gearbox now then i should see 50mpg from 4x4 and tempted to mod CRX the same. I like my Sol stock but a nice set of wheels dont hurt man. agree its awesome to hear so many others appreciate these cars

    I prefer my Honda to be stock and reliable. I don't have the racing tendencies. I have a 2004 RSX-S with only 37K miles on the odometer, but it's only a weekend car. My daily driver is a Hyundai Accent Blue, which gets really great miles per gallon. But stock cars always grab my attention over tuned, about-to-be-destroyed cars. My car is stock, but I add my little customizing cues to it, but still overall keeps the "clean" look. Anyway, nice Del Sol man!

    Love these cars so much I have not 1 not 2 but 3 ... no kidding. Sorry if this sounds like a brag but I am so proud and love them so much.
    Each is different varying from Manual to Auto, Traction Control, Climate Control, Ski Rack, Driving lights, Gathers Tweeters and speaker package, Airbag, ABS and even Traction Control.
    The more I drive them and compare their durability, simplicity, real world economy and lack of manufacturer control to the newer cars, the more I love it even more.
    All are original Japanese imports with SiR designations, B16a engine and all with Transtop. All are original and unmolested.
    To future proof them and safe guard my future driving pleasure I have complete front cut backup engines (all ancillaries like distributor, power steering pump, alternator etc just drop and go) B16a engine for originality, a B18c engine for a factory look and reliability upgrade and back up Manual and Auto transmissions to keep them going with no stress. Also have multiple factory roof motors and gears for lifetime of trouble free Transtop use.
    So hard to get these cars unmolested and back up parts that original Japanese which have not been abused, reconditioned, illegally sourced or worn out. Will be driving these till the end of time and have the parts to keep them going.
    To keep me busy and to keep them looking and feeling current, I have a lifetime of future upgrades available starting with rare single din Video monitor, DVD, Back up camera and CD yes that is right I still love my CD and Blue tooth stereo all in a single DIN (rare now). Then turning it up to factory full set Red and Tan Motegi and Daytona interiors, 4x sets of S2000 seats, clear headlights, blackhoused headlights, twin dual exhausts for all (real not faux quad exhaust) and Glass roofs for all.

    I found a Civic Si Del Sol for 3k. Should I buy it? Its been up for sale for a while.

    • @africanabbey
      @africanabbey  7 років тому

      I think $3k is lower than the average price I found in my area.. I can't say whether it'd be a good buy though because it's an older car and will most likely have issues at some point. I can say though that having a del sol is super fun!
      P.S. If it is your only car, make sure you never need to take more than 1 person around lol

    Love this Video sou sou much. Thank you, please no commercials, this one time. Del Sol .... i cry ... i crx ... this and Flavor Flav safed my poor life. Del Sol means "created as an gift, as an sign of respect to the Sun. Our Mother. Lovely Greetings from Spalt in South Germany, a 6000 year old magic place from the celtic. Me and my lovely Girl Sun drive the 1996 Black Edition, "original condition by HONDA ". MY CRX DEL SOL was the 1992s Honda CRX Targa del Sol 1.6 ESi, 38 mm down layed via Sportsversion of dampers, NO!! Manual ... an automatic, 125 HP ... 225 kilometers per hour up to 232, between 5.9 and 7,2 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h. This beast was smashing me in my driving seat when i used "kickdown"-pedal technique. 🤩😎👹👻

    I like your del sol. Question fid you put those wooden arm rests in the door panel? Cause I'd love some of those for mine. Mines a 93. Lightly modded with 15" sparco rims. Just wondering if those wooden plays were a stock option or not.

    I had a 1997 Del Sol i’d love to Honda do a 2019 or 2020 version with Gullwing Doors something similar to Mercedes sls500 with approximately 270 or 300hp!! Maybe a bettter body kit to upgrade all Del Sols..
