    Take some advice from a guy who's owned over 20 del sols.....keep it all stock, right down to the oem radio. That may seem boring but it'll be worth more later.

      Hey, thank you for the comment! That's awesome that you've been able to own over 20 of these cars. I can definitely see the appeal after owning this one.
      I'm planning to do some work to this one and I want to show that on the channel. I found the engine needed work not long after recording this so I have a plan for a swap on the way. I hope it doesn't devalue you the car too much but I do want to enjoy this car how I see it.

      The more stock it is the more you enjoy and appreciate the car as it will be less likely to break and easier to trouble shoot when something does go wrong.
      All the temptation to mod it is the death of so many of these cars and the reasoning of "oh it is only the wheels" "oh only the suspension" "oh it is only the exhaust" "oh it is only the seats" " I will keep the parts and can put it back anytime later" is EXACTLY how it starts and many the start of the end for the car.
      There is a reason why stock cars last longer and why modded cars die sooner.

      @@crxdelsolsir I would agree for the most part. Especially since most people when they mod the car go for the cheapest possible parts they can find and put it together without very much experience in a cheap way. That's one thing I dislike about the way this car sits right now is the quality of the suspension. It rides terrible and I want to change that in the future.
      On the other hand, there are some things I want to modify on this car. For example, the engine that was in it started smoking after I made this video and I knew it was going to take some work to fix it. I will have to do something there anyway to get the car running again anyway so there are things I am going to change.

      @@crxdelsolsir yeah idk why your hating on other people’s desires and dreams. I got a 95 Honda del sol k20 with a Mugen body kit, sparco seats, progressive auto coil overs, full exhaust set up and enkei rims. I’d rather drive my car then the stock slow car, and yeah my car had problems but that’s life.

    as far as coilovers, if you need a recommendation. just wanted to say i have *TEIN FLEX Z* on my 97 del sol and there great because of the adjustability. dampening adjustment isn't effect by ride height adjustment and you can find that fine line between stiff or soft depending on the roads you drive. where I live there are tons of potholes and uneven ground and i was impressed with how well they are doing.

    • @evolvinginterests

      We have terrible potholes here too and the roads are always destroyed after winter. I'll look in to those, thank you!

    I just got a 1995 del sol. 165,000 miles. All my buddy said was Honda...I have had accord, fantastic machine. I am only 120 pounds, mu buddy 230. Say no more. At 75 with cancer my strength is minimal, I love late afternoon cruise. I am looking forward to giving it a try. Any suggestions for gas? like 87, plus, or super. I am not wealthy so it's a real luxury for me. If it starts breaking down like I've read on you tube should I go to Honda dealer? They are pricey but always did a great job. I am totally inept at automobile repairs, My buddy 's complaint seemed legit, him and wife are large individuals. He said no rust, was not cheap. I know it's best to not deal with buddies in business situations. Also it is black inside and outside. In SOFLO that can make it hotter, I hope it has AC. SOFLO you need it, gets very humid and hot. Will it be hard to sell if it breaks? My last accord got 492,000 miles and simply passed away. I bought it new from dealer. THX for advice on this venture. God Bless!DC

    Dont put subs in the trunk did that and regretted it. Its all metal between the trunk and cabin so its not loud and raddles. Unless you geta custom box inside

      @evolvinginterests  Рік тому

      I have heard that sound from other civics and disliked it. I actually don't like subs very much for that reason. As far as audio goes, I want to replace the factory speakers with the same size from a name brand just to get a little more sound quality.

    Those wheels look like Rota Slipstreams. Some upgrades you might wanna look into is the JDM visors (ebay is a good source) they are full sized. I like the rear garnish license plate lights as well. The JDM Map Lights are also a need addition that US never got. Your car seems to be in great shape as well. Those floormats can get up to $300 for the set. I'd recommend an ebay turbo setup before an engine swap.

    • @evolvinginterests
      @evolvinginterests  Рік тому

      I found out they are Slipstreams, I like them but want a fresh coat on them. I didn't know the JDM interiors were different and I will look into those pieces, I think I would like some of them.
      I think the car is in pretty good shape for what you get with used Hondas. I'm working on making it better, and I decided to put my LS-VTEC build into the car since the D series was smoking and would need some work.

      I had a car like that, it can be really frustrating! These cars are at least easy and cheap to fix for the most part, don't give up on it if you love it.

      what part breaks every month?

    • @bman805sp7
      @bman805sp7 Рік тому +1

      @@KabookiSan the main parts of my car would be at random like a few weeks ago the lights went out and before that my windows stopped working but every time i take it to get repaired for the rear window they refuse service (H&H electric, Honda motors ,ect.) i love my car and i daily drive it but when it rains.... I still drive it.
      List of other things the broke
      tire/axles
      transmission/clutch
      truck/rear-front bumper
      rust under drivers cabin
      engine gaskets (236789 miles)
      shift knob
      oil change 1/30/23 $65
      ~$3,567 That's my guessing in total and with discounts from knowing/friends of shops. idk of its more of less

    • @KabookiSan
      @KabookiSan Рік тому +3

      @@bman805sp7 I get some of that as the car is super old so clutch/ axle boots, seem normal, bad timing for you...Shift knob? Thats just bad luck but lots of aftermarket options for an upgrade anyway. Change your own oil, its like $25. Rust is an issue with these cars depending on location, that part sucks but you can repair if you look up some youtube guides. Save yourself the money, look on youtube how to do the service your self. I have learned how to build these cars from the shell by my self and saved crazy money. If you have 2 hands and a brain, you can do it as well. Save the sols!

    lowering springs might be a good middle ground for the looks and comfort for sacrificing the adjustability

    • @evolvinginterests
      @evolvinginterests  Рік тому

      @@evolvinginterests I had a 93 and 96 del sol that I scrapped but got a lot of interior pieces off first. Already sold trunks and big parts. The transtop is neat, the gears will break often. With today's technology, i was thinking to start 3d printing the replacement gears but prolly wont. I've seen a few for sale around texas. I took my SIR transtop on the Speed TV show "pass time" there is a low def copy on youtube if you search it, the HD version got taken down.

      @@evolvinginterests Nope, i have the rear garnish filler plates on my del sol. I also added the fender turn signal lights. Luckily I took exact measurements of location/size of the hole for the side light. I also have the mugen replica wing on my current del sol.
      I have a spare set of oem headlights/taillights/side skirts, misc trim. 2 clusters, not sure if they work. I think I have a spare D16 engine harness, had spare ECUs but broke them :(
