@@UltimaDoombotMK1 I use FL Studio for music. More specifically, I used Native Instruments Kontakt in FL for most of the sounds here. For other audio/sfx editing I use a mix of FL, Audacity, and the Adobe Suite.

Honestly if this played during a boss fight i wouldn't complain
1:28 I feel like this part is where he extends his energy to the point his body starts to give out and also starting the hardest part of the boss fight.
Makes sense. The drum sounds like it’s struggling to keep up a rhythm that it was never meant for, like in one last ditch effort to trump(et) the player, maybe at the cost of his own life.
ye
This is the part when the brass armor starts to crack
I say at this point he goes into a phase two where his attack increases A ton, but his defence drops significantly

That moment where he activated Maestro Mode and said "This time, BRASS RINGS THE LOUDEST!" I legit got goosebumps
Honestly I really liked the where he’s a big part and he just drops everything to yell my lungs are nearly out but you. You’ve caused so much chaos so much discord if you need to be silenced. Two became too. I hope you know I have sacrificed for you. And then he just goes crazy

Man I hated this boss fight at first. He kept cornering me whenever I slipped up.
But damn do I love this character. His dialogue is so charming and the lore behind him is so interesting and opens up a whole new perspective on the magic system of this world.
Bro this boss is so easy.
@@mr.lingish9306 Are you kidding me? The only way I managed to defeat him is to literally wall climb the entire fight. If it weren't for the maestro sword I picked up while on the way I wouldn't have won.
@@whomst855 You... You know you could've just used the Saxe? It can stun ANY enemy for two seconds AND it halves all magical damage received. The only problems I encountered were in his second phase when the three turrets detach and create a shield. The Saxe isn't a ranged weapon so I had to pull out the Clarinet Repeater and somehow chip away at the turrets while avoiding their sonic blasts.
Luckily, the sidequest for the Saxe is very easy but drags on infinitely. You have to defeat 300 Cowbell Fairies in the Woodwind Grove and these little fuckers are tanky.
Also, never use the Clarinet Repeaters. Their low damage input in exchange for two bolts in one shot isn't a good trade. The best option would be to upgrade your axe into a tomahawk or your Maestro Sword into the 9th Symphony Blade at the Brass Blacksmith before the battle instead of upgrading bows or crossbows.
@@tomaszkuplowski9258 Yeah but the Saxe is so damn fragile! It breaks after two hits. Unless you got some leftover recovery potions to convert into polish potioms and you can repair the weapon quicker than the turrets then you're done for. I equipped the Tuba master set because of the knockback, so I couldn't move as quickly as I could to avoid the boss.
Also how the hell did you get the Clarinet Repeater? I keep on losing myself in that maze quest and the Ticking time signature monsters are a bitch to deal with. Is it really better than the wind god's panflute?
@@whomst855 1. You were probably using the Saxe pre-patch, apparently there was some bugs that gave it extremally low durability. Still, the Saxe Tomahawks are one of the best weapons for this boss.
2. The Clarinet Repeater is an upgrade to the Clarinet Crossbow. It's the fastest of the four woodwind crossbows, with the Oboe crossbow dealing the most damage and the bassoon crossbow having homing bolts. Out of them all the best Repeater has to be the Bassoon version, since the upgrade lowers its attack speed but grants you a triple homing spread shot. They can be acquired by defeating the Whistling Quartet south of the Toccata Lake. The weapon you get depends on which of the brothers you defeat first. The Wind God's Panflute is a viable weapon for its high DPS but the accesibility and damage kinda lower the ranking. I think you're mistaking the quest needed to unlock it for the Liar's Lyre Quest.
Man, this one was difficult, I kept dying to his C Minor attack
C Minors damage is not to cruel, but the stagger gets you stun locked to easy in the early game!
If you have enough MP for it try buffing yourself with Harmonica and wear only light armour, that halves the stagger time
That's why you shouldn't run a rouge that's under the age of 18
My sword has the Sharp enchantment, yours is a measly Flat 😂😂
I call bullshit on you only dyong to that. Especially if the fricking shockwaves hits the entire party. Twice.
You should Summon Drake or Disrespect to counter the minors
"I'm gonna kick your brass!"
"Come on and face the music!"
"It's about time Tuba takes centre stage!"
"Your screams will be drowned out by the crescendo!"
"Let's take this to a new key!"
"I won't be reduced to a mere mouthpiece!"
"The battle isnt over till the day tuba plays!"
"I didn't want to do this, but it seems I have to take extra measures to defeat you!"
"Not scared, hero? Ha, that makes tuba us!"
"Stay seated during the performance!"
"Nice rhythm, but by the end of this you'll be the one offbeat!"
Awww, you want to win? TUBA-D!
To anyone wondering: Yes, there is a save point before the fight, it's just hidden. If you go right from the entrance of the arena and hit the wall 3 times, you'll see it.
Thanks
God dam i've been walking all the way from the tuba merchant checkpoint to the boss, this is gonna save so much time.

It's honestly insane how rhythm was integrated into this boss fight. Easily the best game of all time.
Yeah, doom has great music but this game was like a combat version of guitar hero.
I can imagine you’re in a stadium and the whole crowd is banging the cymbals you hear in the song
Do you know personally I’ve always wondered till I got a little too close to the crowd then they stopped smashing the symbols together and they actually started smashing them on the ground in my general direction. Graded shock waves. Although I didn’t notice the boss slowed it down when the symbol was it slammed down.

@@haboosworld163 Papyrus? Sadistic? I don't think we met the same Papyrus.
like snatcher from a hat in time?
Pro tip: you’ll see him another time later on the game, when you reach the battle just go ahead and hide under the broken pillar, his spells won’t be able to hurt you and you just need to shoot violin bows as usual, when his magic armor is broken just take your flute and finish him, he will die in 2-5 attacks, but bring about 10 flutes whit you so you won’t run out of flutes during the battle
But where do I find the flutes? It is very difficult for me to get them, apart from the fact that this type of object is usually guarded by enemies much stronger than me at that time, or is it a hidden object? :/
i always forget about the flutes god damn.
@@MusSupremeJAR03 actually the tutorial trumpet can be found in woodwind village and can sell you the flutes but they are 500 gold each so you will have to do a little grinding.
I would recommend camping the bass that spawn in the lagoon because they drop 0-3 fishers song which can be sold for 50 gold each to the Charm Smith in the flute forest.
ALSO the bass ARE VERY hard to kill so try using ranges magic attacks
The piano destroys this boss tho, it's AOE effect can be used to endlessly stunlock the archmage, leaving it defenseless for another AOE. Just throw at him whatever you have between AOE's and done

To those having trouble with this fight, you can actually (mostly) skip the fight alltogther. Once you walk into the arena, don't attack him, he'll stay in phase one and all you have to do is survive for 5 minutes, you'll know you did this correctly as you'll see 'The Violinist has made his entrance' and he'll fight by your side as an ally for the fight. He can pretty much solo the Tuba Archmage at this point so you can just sit back and listen to this jam.
I thought they removed this feature!

Someone made a custom everhood battle for it (at 0:21): ua-cam.com/video/O06ba-XG_6U/v-deo.html
The Fight:
Phase one: 0:17
rather obvious patterns. He picks up a tuba and blows a wave of sound at you. small in size, it's easy to dodge. once you dodge enough, he'll get tired and that's your chance. go in for a stab/pierce at his abdomen. it's his only unprotected area.
phase 2 0:52
he hovers his wand over one of his 3 tubas and it promptly begins emanating sound into the ground. The debris where you stand will begin shaking and moving as a warning. maybe have a red aura around your legs. Failing to escape the red aura will result in a sound wave coming from under you, knocking you off your feet and doing damage. He also continues to send the waves at you directly through his wand. he will begin deflecting your stabs.
An oversight is that this entire time, he has been standing in one place. You've entered his dungeon and he has large tubas built into the ceiling for when he feels like playing music. Get him to use his ground attack on you while you're under one of these ceiling tubas. the sound will travel back onto him and cause immense vibrating on his armor causing a piece of it to fall off and stunning him. use this chance to slash and stab at him.
phase 3: 1:25 he becomes enraged and using all his magic on the element of sound.
He uses all three tubas to crumble away parts of the ground. leaving you with limited room to manoeuvre. having to jump across gaps to move effectively while he levitates above. pelting you with noise after noise and reducing your health. he retains all his previpus attacks.
the only strategy to defeat him is to dodge his attacka until he lands. then you must rush towards him and your controls will be switched so that your xharacter constantly runs forward. you'll be able to dodge left and right onto the long cracked stones. he'll continue attacking you in a range fashion and you'll be forced to move left and right until he lets out one continuous blast that you have to block with your shield and push through with a quick time button masher event. if you succeed your character will march forward and plug the tuba with their shield and push them back to stun them and knock the tuba away. then you'll be able to attack them once more. this has to be done 3 times (one for each tuba that he has) and when you defeat him he drops his brass armor which you can choose to wear. it will grant you +50 defense and +25 magic affinity.
Edit: i didn't read the description and apparently the leg pieces become minibosses after you beat him. but you guys can decide this fight in the replies lol

I absolutely adore this fight on Sousaphone Sorcerer playthroughs. A lot of people don't know this because he's such an unpopular character pick (tbh can't blame people... Sousa hits really hard but he's slow, clunky, and surprisingly frail), but the Tuba Archmage is actually designed as a rival boss fight for Sousa, and his AI changes drastically as a result.
Instead the usual challenge on other characters where you need to end the fight ASAP while coping with the Archmage's nasty debuffs like Deafing Sforzando and Temporal Ritardando, Sousa vs. Archmage is basically a game of endurance where you gotta have the intuition to know when to trade hits, when to pressure the Archmage so that his Crescendo gauge doesn't fill too much, when to back off so you can keep your gauge from dropping... it kind of reminds me of a control deck mirror match in Yugioh, in a weird way. (If that makes sense?)
There's even a neat trick in the last phase, too: you know when Archmage uses it's desperation attack, "Fermata Arte: Eternal Tuning"? Instead of breaking his concentration to stop the attack the usual way, Sousa can just straight up outlast him as long as you're good enough at stamina management. (And as a reward, the Archmage even gets inflicted with BREATHLESS if you pull it off. It's hilarious, try it.) I don't think any other boss in the game just lets you pull the rug out from under it during an ult like that.

I love how he's the Tuba Archmage but holding a trombone slide in his left hand XD
I love how the start is so crude and brooding.
First Stage:
Fires fragmented notes, summons randomized tuba soldiers, shields himself with flute corpses.
Second Stage:
Summons sound cannon from hand, summons heavy grunts, drops clusters of brass grenades.
Third Stage:
Summons orchestral lightning, fires multiplying blades, spawns two tuba knights at a time.
Final Stage:
Uses all attacks from all stages, can duplicate himself (copy has less health), raises bar line spears to fire at you.
HP: 50000
Def: 300

Description: Archmage Tuban is a loyal follower of King Tuba II, and will stop at nothing to ensure the conquering of Orchestria.

Thx now i can finally beat him (I got stuck in that part)
A quick battle guide:
Don't tank him. Just don't. If you've invested all your points in tanky abilities, you'll have the tempo charge, you can use it as a dodge.
So, whether you're a tank or not, you'll need some hefty DPS on this one. You may think debuffs are useless since the archmage can remove any debuff, it costs him a lot of energy and his attacks are weakened. So inflicting him with, say, Brass Dissonance can open up a slot where you can rack up HUGE DPS if you're using a weapon like the Snare, Flurry Bagpipe, Tabla or any of the other faster attacking instruments (I used these three, not just for this but because Bagpipe and Snare have great synergy if you switch quickly enough). A good ol' Tuba will do if you've upgraded your AOE. Just be careful in the second and third phases, as any debuffs will be later reflected as a temp dissonance. Craft lots of metronomes to counter that.
Now for the defense, in the first two phases just avoid everything. If you can't than avoid the Horn Blasts and the Spell Inception. In the third phase you're gonna have to charge uo some dodges/stealth/counters/shields during the low damage Air Stakes and use them up in the very high damage attacks next, especially Solo Blast. This will only work if the boss is kept weak in offense using debuffs (because of energy focusing).
That's just one strategy, of course. Reply if you have something else, or if this doesn't work out. Have a good day!
I mostly used echo magic since reflected debuffs go to the echo and it allows you to stay at range where you get a lot of warning on attacks plus it allows you to do some insane combos; you can do 8/4 or even 4/2 combos with starting instruments and shred your foes if you have the mana/energy
Thanks on the tips guy! I was stuck on this boss for about a month or two.
I main drums while that may be a support weapon actually does quite good solo against this guy you just got to know when to use your mp for drum solo in order to resist his attacks for this fight you should use drums with a passive healing effect (bongos or steel drums) because except in the later stages he mostly sticks to low damage area attacks (with a med chance to stun. The pain in the but part is the final stage where he just uses random hard hitting attacks at this part of the fight i switch to the full drumming set (for enhanced buffs and passive mp regen) i won on my second try (i Lost the first time because I was stunlocked to death)
Im not reading all that
@@crunchie9362 so why are you commenting? We don’t give a shit
This is amazing!
The magical arch age has been hidden in captivity for years slowly deteriorating at his sanity.
You find him gone insane and you have 2 choices
1. Use a memory potion (rare but useful) and have his sanity restored and have as a support character.
2. Battle to the death and may the most fabled warrior win.
I've seen this game for quite awhile but never actually tried it, i've finished the game and i'm amazed. Took 10-20 tries to defeat him but it's kind of easy when you get the hang of it. Here are some quick tips that you could use against him.
Bring the Healing Harp:
It's pretty hard to get but when you actually do manage to obtain it, you'll have an easier time while not dying as often . Even if you don't want to get it now, you'll have to get it later due to its massively great upgrades and a side quests that requires it.
Choir Tome:
Deals great damage and grants a debuff that'll remove a bit of his defense which is definetely helpful. Obtained by defeating the Lesser Tuba Mages which has a 35% chance of dropping. Quite easy to find them and are defeated in around 7 attacks using the Starter Flute.
I've seen people using the defense harp which grants you +5 defense and I'm actually surprised. I know it's easier to get but it has a high cooldown and gets removed after 20 seconds plus so it isn't recommended.
Here is the boss stats and attacks aswell as how to dodge them.
Tuba Archmage:
270 HP
24 Defense
27 attack (Doesn't need high attack due to how often you'll get hit)
5% miss rate (Increased when it gets to 75% hp (10% MR), 50% hp (15% MR) and 25% hp (25% MR)
Immunity to Unmelodious Debuff (Confuses the boss and gives +10% miss rate)
Attacks:
MeloWaves: Sends vibration to the ground causing the ground to break into smaller pieces (Happens when i reaches 75% HP)
Go to the corner since the vibrations won't fall causing you to not fall.
Note Frenzy: Summons random notes from the sky falling down and cause small vibrations, if hit by the vibrations you will get a random debuff. Debuffs: Unmelodious, Confuseness (Makes you hit yourself when attacking), Stun (Can't move)
This one is a little bit tricky since you don't see an exclamation points and they're fast. You have to count to 4, when you reach 4 dash to the right, count again then dash to the left and so forth until the sky goes back to normal.
Tempo Disfunction: A dark circle with two bigger white lines and a thin red line will appear in the middle of your screen, when the thin red line reaches the left big line you have to press space, it will reset and go to the right, when it reaches the right you have to press enter, this will happen repeatedly and having it right will grant you a temporary speed buff. The trick is to have your hands on space and enter then clicking whicher it is on.
When it reaches 25% HP, all the attacks mentioned before (Except MeloWaves which won't work and tempo disfunction which'll stop working) will be a LOT faster and will appear a lot more frequently (Mostly Note Frenzy) while also adding a few more attacks.
Note Release: Summons a notes circling the mage, the notes will duplicated and advance forward making a line after a few seconds
you have to jump then dash when one gets close and always walk the way the lines are going so they won't catch up as often (Except when doing Note Frenzy where now you just have to spam dash to wherever the line is going).
Big Note Rain: Summons giant notes at random and when hitting the floor will split onto more notes following you for a few seconds.
You can jump over them after a few seconds since they'll kinda just become one entity after a bit.
Small note rain: It will start raining notes that damages you
This is what makes the fight extremely difficult since there isn't much way to counter it, best bet is to use healing harp to heal you (Helps overall) or buy the Defensive Charm which will negate 10% of falling notes (Not useful on note frenzy since note frenzy just inflicts debuff and the damage is not that bad while you could get better accessories).
Please do not take this as words from the gods, i have finished the game but I'm in no way a Profesionnal at the game. Also sorry for making this long, there was way too much to cover lol.
thanks for the pro tips! hopefully i can take him down next time

Man wrote a Fextralife article on how to fight this boss. I commend you, it'll save a lot of people time on their runs
I love how all these instrument themed characters already have their own characteristics and stories made despite these themes being made as jokes
Well Instruments always got some form of character for them going on. Back in the days of Bach and Mozart instruments where used to tell stories with their music. Depending on what was your story about deep brass instruments like the tuba could be used for the introduction of a bad guy, something heavy and things like bad weather conditions, usually thunderstorms. So it's pretty fitting Music for a Tuba boss.

"the battlefield is in ruins, the heroes are in shambles trying to figure out what to do. The warrior sighs with disbelief 'h-he's too strong. wow, im just blown away at ll these tuba themed boss tracks
The archmage was a very respected figure in the king's court, having an affinity for magic that none could rival. But eventually it was discovered that he was using viola repertoire to cast his spells on tuba, a forbidden practice punishable by deafness. That night however, he escaped and was never seen in the kingdom again.
Your hopes of a finished fight ended in one sentence: "Avenge me legs!"
Seriously though, I love how this song manages to be both quirky and serious. The serious half reminds you that you are fighting an all-powerful archmage that has likely slain thousands with unfathomable brass magic along with legions of war-hardened brass ensembles while the quirky half reminds you that you are fighting a tuba person.
