I have had my printer for over 3 years now and it is fine. The trick is you need to open the lid completely for the limit switch to know that you are changing the cartridge. I am talking right the way open

You must put 4 toners. Otherwise it will not work.if you need black print only, you have to put other cartridges also. no problem whether its empty or not

May be problem from your printer settings in computer. In printer properties has 2 option for print. 1 black only 2 black and color. I think you enabled black only option. You can check that.
Did you check test print without computer??
