Recently, deeply listening to sounds coming from my bedroom window became like an endless pool of cool-warm sound or energy embracing, enveloping and dissolving me. There was only this indescribable and intimate beauty of liquid flow (words can't describe). Funny thing is, is that it this was not the sounds of Mozart, a babbling brook, birds singing, or the song of wind dancing with leaves; it was near and far cars, trucks and motorcycles. When I was young I really liked the band Traffic. Has a whole new meaning now ;-) Thanks for your pointing, Angelo. Really appreciate it.
Your answer to Dr. Muhammad- “you reappear as the entire environment “ - yes- this is “my” experience. Heart overflowing w all the beauty of being moved to action but w/o a “doer”. Signed up for a local silent retreat to sink into this lived experience w/o a lot of mind distractions. Besides the sense gate practices, any suggestion Angelo on how to make best use of such a rare block of time for practice? 🙏
It's so true, what you have just shared. The glimpses of emptiness were there before the awakening. It took a few months to become a direct, undivided "experience". At first, it felt a bit odd, but now all good and peaceful. Thanks for sharing this, great videos and pointing:).
For now, the undivided reality can get interrupted with "Oh, there is stuff arising and I need my identity to cope with what's coming" (even if analytically it is clear that every single word in that sentence is a fabrication). Or I fall asleep and wake up to a thought storm. And what feels "unfair" is that nonduality is so tolerant and allowing of duality - while duality does not reciprocate :-) :-)
Is it normal for our minds to wander a lot when being exposed to these topics. I can’t pinpoint what it is, but I have trouble focusing and have to watch half a dozen times. Probably because I’m trying to intellectualize it and get hung up and then latch on to another thought. Also the sound quality on this video is great! See u in Monterey over Halloween 🎃💜
Yes, because I’m pointing past the cognitive structures the brain often finds itself on “tilt.” Just attuning the that deeper part of yourself to the degree you can is enough ☺️
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake These videos have a way to make me listen, without listening. Paying attention without trying to pay attention. There are a few times where I can feel this brief moment of time just kind of stopping, then stretching to infinity for a few minutes. I'm excited to keep falling down this rabbit hole though. Let's see where this ends up taking us.
Great stuff mate. It's more obvious than any object in front of your face. Yes it is. I am happy to have found you on youtube. There is a dearth of non-duality teachers. Its great to have another teacher, another way of explaining no-self, emptiness, non-duality. I look forward to watching every one of your videos. I awakened to my true self (consciousness) about a year ago. My sense of self as the person vs as the I AM comes and goes over time since this enlightenment event as does the nirvana or bliss which is associated with it. I am working on keeping up my perspective as everything and no-thing not falling back into believing i am a seperate person. Thank you for this video xoxoxox
Nice to be so succinct and clear and direct in just a few minutes. Bravo! So, when there is a clear visual, audial, sensorial and energetic sense of subject object losing their discreteness, but not a full out "merge with the world" in pure oneness happening, what would you encourage for a potential next step?
If you’ve had an undeniable shift in identity (as described in the book), then start inquiring directly into non-dual. There are several ways. When observing an object, notice how long attention remains with just that experience before the mind begins to chatter including adding labels, relationships etc. This very simple but powerful practice works to teach one the difference between true non-dual phenomena and contextual overlays. Before awakening this is nearly impossible bc the mind just makes too much noise.
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake I’ve noticed often for me even feeling the enjoyment of the moment is not purely being present and experientially feeling it but with a conceptual understanding! And By that I mean, I think I am enjoying the food. I taste some! But not fully! now I notice it. Before I never did
@SimplyAlwaysAwake violet helped me by saying hers was a rough entrance too, and helped me anchor safety. My nervous system didnt know how to process this new reality, so just anchoring safety was key. I also feel like now i am able to effectively shift my relationship with resistance to doing things i want or need to do bc there is no longer a self to resist.
Thanks for explaining it. Your interpretation of non-duality seems very similar to a very popular idea in sufism. This is called wahdat-ul-wajood, which means that the whole reality/existence/being is one. In 9th century, a very popular mystic was sentenced to gruesome death after he publicly claimed that "I am the Truth". I am wondering if your interpretation and this idea of wahdat-ul-wajood are the same things. Is it something like, since I am a drop of water in the ocean, but in a certain sense, even though I am a drop, and claim that I am the ocean.
Good question, I’m not completely familiar with that doctrine but it sounds quite similar. As far as the drop of water and the ocean that points clearly to an earlier stage of realization which I usually call awakening or first awakening. One experiences oneself as all of unbound consciousness. It is quite extraordinary and life changing. The further refinement of non-dual is in a sense even more radical experientially. It’s like you literally disappear as a distinct being and reappear as the entire environment. Strangely you are able to function totally normally from the realization (not a state), but it can take some adjustment:)
Thanks for your comment. Indeed the concept of nonduality can be construed as a dualistic concept in the way you describe. What I’m pointing to in these videos however is not the concept of nonduality. I’m pointing to an experiential insight that significantly alters the way one experiences reality, specifically the sense fields. It’s still pretty uncommon even among those who have had awakening (stream entry), and I think that’s why it’s misunderstood. I assume you know this but I can’t tell just from one comment. Just pointing it out for anyone else reading this.
@@Kim-sherie you could say that but it’s not exactly something you notice directly. You might say seeing becomes clearer and clearer until nothing can be ignored anymore, then the luminous aliveness replaces you.
I know this but…yikes not the way in explaining or is it? As an Ivy League educationed receiving person which means Nothing!!! I Am Nothing but I Am Everything.♥️
It sounds like non-duality is the realization of no self, yes? So if I stop and attend to what’s in front of me it’s clear there’s no distance and no division. But even then there’s a subtle feeling of a subject. That feeling of being a subject in a world comes back fully the moment attention is distracted again. In your language this is not non-duality or no self right?
Undivided reality you say?? Is there a video or can you make one where you give reasons why this is. You mention that it’s all a construct like the sound of your voice being emitted through is something that’s created by my mind but don’t actually go into the why?

“Where is that? “ in regard to sound sensation.
Will apply this, thank you ;) When settled, the chatter floats where the senses appear to be. When not settled, it can be very fleeting.

Non duality is a duality concept, because you believe that there is both, duality on the one side and non duality on the other side...

How do we disentangle identity?
First awakening is key, it is the beginning of the end of the binding of identity.
@@SimplyAlwaysAwake and after awakening, does the identity slowly dissolve?

Why is unhelpful bc it will lead to more thought and fabrication. The only way to satisfy that urge to know is through direct insight
I think I was starting to understand the term nonduality until 1:30 and he started puking out a bunch of gobblie-guck out on me.
