The dividend just announced seems to be no more than a "special" one off payment to appease shareholders ahead of the proxy fight with Nelson Peltz - I cant see anywhere where DIS says that it has "reinstated" the annual dividend.

This sounds like a desperate play from Disney. If you look at their movie releases next year its all downhill. Crap all the way. They lost 500M over the last 5 movies and no one responcible was fired yet. Numbers dont matter when management is trash.

Desperation play
I sold 250 shares of Disney for a profit years ago. I would not touch Disney now, because too many issues.
Long term Disney holder, it'll be here long after everyone has cried over their business decisions. ESPN, the parks, and brand name alone will weather this storm.
But Disney have never been woke before. All you need is a small proportion of well organised woke people and the majority of the staff won’t dare to speak out.

I'm personally pretty pessimistic on DIS stock. Disney is still down about 54% from their pandemic highs. They are losing a lot of money with Disney+, and most of their movie properties are definitely trending downwards as well. I feel like the market is saturated with Marvel, Star Wars and other Disney related properties. Definitely feels like people are shifting away from Disney.
Not to mention the overall sentiment of the quality of movies from the general public seems to be shifting negatively.
Their movies aren't even in the smallest amount of their revenue stream.

I think they announced they were bringing the dividend back about a year ago but they didn't actually do it until now.

I can't see anyone seeing disney as a worth while investment in it''s current state. the only profitable part of the company is it's theme parks and that will hit a ceiling as the prices go higher and higher. The company needs to stop alienating the part of the audience that actually buys their products. while the politics of disney are putting people off it makes things worse when long time fans of the franchises Disney spent billion to acquire are no longer interested in these IP's.
