    Freddie could easily sing across genres. vaudeville, 20s, 30, 40s, rock & roll, rock, pop, funk, mock opera, anything- everything. I almost think this gorgeous song is in the style of an old fashioned jazz 'torch song".

    That head that Goofy is holding is bass player John Deacon. I saw an interview with Peter Freestone, Freddie’s personal assistant for the last 15 years of his life. He said that this song, though often overlooked, was his favorite Queen song of all.
    I’d love to see you react to Freddie’s vocals on the lyric video for “One Year of Love”, written by John Deacon. It was one of 8 songs that Queen did for the soundtrack of the movie “Highlander”. The character is immortal, falls in love, and has to watch her grow old and die in his arms. Freddie shreds the vocals!Also from this movie is “Who wants to live forever” which they perform amazingly live at Wembley in 1986.
    More and more Queen, please. I think they deserve their own genre!

    • @BirdmansPlace
      @BirdmansPlace  5 років тому +4

      See...I thought that was him...but I wasn't 100% sure, so I didn't want to say it and look stupid. I will definitely be doing more Queen. I love them. And I will put "One Year of Love" on the list. Haven't heard that one either. Thank you for the comments, and the support. I really appreciate it. Stay Tuned...more Queen is coming.

      @@BirdmansPlace - John Deacon was so often overlooked. Great bass man, rhythm guitarist, occasional lead guitarist like on the recordings of Back Chat and Another on Bites the Dust where he played ALL the instruments (even the funky guitar), also played piano and wrote over a dozen great songs including a couple of their biggest hits. He was just low key and shy and avoided the spotlight. One year of Love is a beautiful ballad right up there with their best. John's bass carried so many of their songs and he is outstanding in this one too.

    Nice reaction. May I suggest giving a listen to 'Cool Cat' from the Hot Space album, co - written by John & Freddie and they're the only two on the track because Brian and Roger disliked it so much, so Freddie covered vocals and piano while John took care of everything else, the result..., something rather special.

    This song is essentially about Freddie’s fame and the fact that although he appears to be happy, this new celebrity is not enough for him because his relationships are unfulfilling. It could also concern his sexuality because at that time he was struggling to convince people he was straight, and that couldn’t have made him happy, but that’s just a thought.
    He starts off saying how his lover has left him again. He carries on saying how he’s going to drown his sorrows

      Sorry if it bothers you. When you do a reaction video, especially with Queen, you have to stop and talk, or it will be blocked and removed from UA-cam. Besides, this is a reaction channel, and I am reacting to the song. If you just want to hear the song, that is quite alright, feel free to do so. But as a genuine reactor, you need to react to a song when you feel the reaction, otherwise it's not genuine. But I'm not for everyone. Thank you for watching. Much love to ya.
