“There’s nothing new under the sun”
A phrase adapted from the Book of Ecclesiastes; the author complains frequently in the book about the monotony of life. The entire passage reads, “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”

In classical music it might be called a “quote” and could be considered an homage or compliment. “Come Together” immediately moves on after two lines! There was litigation- the Chuck Berry tune was owned by Morris Levy, who was a crime figure/music publisher/founder of Strawberries record stores. Lennon’s “Rock and Roll” album was made (at least in part) to satisfy Morris’s settlement as it included several tunes that Morris also owned the copyrights of. So the sales of the Rock and Roll album more than made restitution.

this limitation only exists within the confines of western classical music theory. there are quite literally an infinite number of notes. some are indistinguishable to the human ear from other notes, while others just sound wrong to you because you're stuck on western music. both are worth exploring, true temperament (as opposed to the even temperament you're used to) has already been thoroughly explored in western music to great effect and many artists are currently experimenting with microtonality. even with an identical melody you can play with the rhythm to make a song sound and feel completely different.

Are you stupid???? Someone like Elvis rode off the sweat of black artists and publicly admited that was plastered all over the tv because whites hated seeing black artists sing black music but if Elvis did it was ok, the Beatles wouldn’t play stadiums where they could paid so much money just because the audience would be segregated, the music of the 50s was a stepping stone but it was the same blues and early rock and skiffle it was always gonna be. The Beatles hero’s where little Richard, buddy holly, chuck berry, if you sit here and honestly say they rode off their “success” then you are honestly just compensating extremely hard, Paul writing black bird was something nearly no musicians were doing at the height of racial segregation. Michael Jackson was a awful childishly greedy person for that and sorry to tell you Paul got his songs back. People from the uk did not understand the hatred of African Americans at that time as much as it was over here and for you to say that you must be extremely biased and arrogant man like wow you’re sad.

And this is one “stolen work” that John has ever been shown, even George got sued for my sweet lord which completely changed how copy righted music is handled in court, if you’re a true musician you wouldn’t sue someone unless it is direct blatant plagiarism because you cannot copyright dance moves just as much as you can copyright certain chord progressions, riffs, or time signatures which are mainly all inspired from the blues and if u wanna go that far nearly every artist can be sued for the 4 chord blues riffs everyone keeps using, kinda like the Taylor swift dark horse situation, music labels mainly sue artists not bands or artists especially if the song goes multi platinum or the artist in question can make them rich, otherwise they don’t care, think of juice wrld and Lucid dreams and sting

Ok so since you posted this I'm going to give you a lesson in concept and respect. The song itself is meant to be a type of "parody" or "ironic" and a reflection of society by talking about a single part or general individuals in everyday society. These type of lyrics were and are still used all the time. Zeppelin did it as well. Many artists have done this. Chuck Berry was one of John's major influences also. So for him to put a lyric like that that resembles something like what Chuck had written an said is literally like him paying homage to Chuck. If you listen to the lyrics you can tell that the direction of the song, or the intention of it is obviously meant to get you thinking about some of the hypocrisy we have in society. How certain figures in society act. It's meant to be ironic. It's meant to reflect. In my opinion him putting those lyrics in there only speaks to how in sync he was with the music and his own artistry as an individual. It speaks to how the man thought and wrote the music... and I guarantee you that the thought of stealing or taking that line in the lyrics never crossed his mind...

I’m still a huge classic rock fan but the more I dig into old black music from America the more I see that everybody from Zeppelin to the Beatles and even Elvis directly ripped off those older artists because they recorded stuff in many cases without any property rights. Pretty shameful shit lol!
