      Congrats on the speed!! First mods are always Autotech HPFP internals and COBB Accessport. After that you can do anything. The tail lights are F4D Lighting. Links are below

    How many miles were on the car when it blew and how were you driving it? Just bought one from a dealership with 113,xxx miles on it and blew at 4k rpm driving it normally after leaving a stop sign.

      @mgayar16 8 років тому

      My speed6 has 154k on oem motor I haven't had any compression loss it's at 163 all cylinders, I do drive it hard sometimes but not a lot , it's on a stage 2 tune with a down pipe, intake, 800cc injectors and e85 the car still runs strong, but make sure you don't get on it a lot with stock fuel pump internals because direct injection in 2006 I wouldn't trust that much or you will fuel starve the engine, regular maintenance here and there make sure you use Castrol gtx fuel synthetic and oem filter, if you know what you're doing the car can make it to 300k or even more but the reason they blow is because teens drive it way too hard all the time and put too much stress on the engine,

    Do you still have this car? How does it perform with a TMIC and no engine scoop? I had an evo ix which is obviously front mount and that makes sense.. subies have top mount and a hood scoop, but ms6 is top mount and the only airflow is from the front. Wouldn't your turbo get really fuckin hot with minimal airflow? I haven't seen anyone get an aftermarket hood to increase airflow, but I have seen a couple people switch to front mount IC altogether. What are your thoughts? I'm going to be purchasing one of these cars in January as they are DIRT cheap for what you get.. Much cheaper than an STI or Evo, considerably cheaper than a wrx or audi s4.. by far the best bang for your buck. I have heard of some issues popping up here or there for various people, but nothing that seems inherently bad enough that I need to look out for something.. nothing that's TOO common or terrible. Just need to reinforce the rear end and get sound mounts, upgrade motor mounts, couple little things like that I believe. I have more research to do, but I don't think anything I can read will deter me at this point.

    • @AngryPlatypus69
      @AngryPlatypus69  7 років тому

      David Huffman hey man, i still have her. for the TMIC it does have a "scoop" by the grill the air that hits the top fins will be directed into the TMIC. the car preforms very well. i love it. As for what to look out for when buying. Check the VVT system by taking the oil cap off and using your finger check the tension of the chain. First mods i would say Autotech HPFP, AP, and RMM. after that you can really do whatever.

    • @davidhuffman2075
      @davidhuffman2075 7 років тому

      Thanks for the response man, I'm really close to buying one but I'm on the fence. I used to own an evo ix with 450hp, and I am constantly seeing how this car isn't relatable to an evo or sti. Now I know they weren't trying to make a rally or race car with this, but the fact that it is AWD, turbo, 4 door and only about 200lb heavier than an evo or sti begs me to think that if it had the same level of boost as an evo, the same bilstein shocks, the same bucket seats and momo steering wheel the same brembo brakes etc- that this car would perform VERY similarly. Basically, I don't want to get this car and start modifying it only to find out that I would have been better off purchasing something else. I want a sporty DD that I can take to the track.. I don't want another evo and I don't want to join the subaru cult, so this car seemed like a good place to start, especially considering they go for under 10k where I live. What are your thoughts? I often hear they can't be made into a racecar without a lot of headaches lol

    • @AngryPlatypus69
      @AngryPlatypus69  7 років тому +1

      David Huffman the car isn't that bad in the video you see that I blew my motor. that was due to my error. I accidentally left the oil catch can open the car went lean for about a day. with these cars the motors are not forged so that's all it took to snap the rod on cylinder 4. besides that issue that was caused by me the only thing I've had go is a thermostat and one rear brake caliper. I am taking my car to autocross, Mid-Ohio Road course, and also to the Tail of the Dragon. I have driven my car to San Diego and back to Cleveland. it really come down to maintenance and not knowing the first modifications to do. the rule goes as long as you get a Cobb accessport Autotech high pressure fuel pump internals and a rear motor mount you can even add new spark plugs you are set to modify it how you want. a lot of people will run the gtx2867 or BNR S3/4 that will get you to about 340 wheel horsepower and about 365 to 380 foot pounds of torque with E85. unless you want to build a block the car cannot really break 400.

      My OCC was open and car went lean for 2 days.

    • @ThaPianoMan4
      @ThaPianoMan4 9 років тому

      xXSTI4MeXx I feel stupid for bit knowing. What's the OCC and how did lean cause a transmission failure?

    • @AngryPlatypus69
      @AngryPlatypus69  9 років тому

      It didn't cause a transmission issue. Just failure of the rods breaking. An OCC is an oil catch can and it is used to catch oil/gas being vented from the PCV. Usually it gets pit back into the take mani for the motor to burn up but the OCC catches all the to help keep your motor clean. When you clean a OCC you unscrew a drain plug under it to drain all the oil/gas out. After i did that i left it open and it was sucking unmetered air into the motor which caused my AFR (air to fuel ratio) to hit 16-17 when casual driving. Hope this helps

    • @dickmoneysgun
      @dickmoneysgun 9 років тому

      xXSTI4MeXx so it had nothing to do with fuel pump issue? i read that can be an issue a long time ago... zoom zoom boom?

    • @agentlongwood
      @agentlongwood 9 років тому

      xXSTI4MeXx Wouldn't that air be going into the crank case and not the combustion chamber? I just realized I don't really know how a catch can works haha.

    • @AngryPlatypus69
      @AngryPlatypus69  9 років тому

      For the speeds. The ends will go into the wheel well about 2-3 inches. Simple as cutting off the ends flush with the bumper. I also used black silicon to get between the gaps to air didn't get behind it

      xXSTI4MeXx Dude that happened to me 2!! (I have same exact car) Except for the blowing up part.
      When I first installed the OCC (JBR) I thought that it came open (tube thing sticking out. So I "closed it" and could hear the air hissing and engine struggling when it was on. I shit my pants and turned off the car immediatly (I am very paranoid).
      Turns out if it looks like it's closed it is open and vice versa. I endened up buying a new PCV valve and cleaning the intake manifold before I found the solution through a random forum (I think it was a mustang forum lol).
