The people working at Dollar General do not have to work at Dollar General though. I’m not saying it’s a good place to work, I don’t shop there ever, and I don’t like the place, but someone working at a Dollar General may have no other option besides unemployment.
I only shop there because I smoke a bunch o weed, so I can ride my bike 2 mi to town for rations because it’s 12 miles to the grocery store and those dicks at circle k charge $8 for Edys Rocky road - they need to thank their lucky stars they’re just a block away.

They sell identical items to Walmart who is trying to compete with Amazon. I’m not sure what’s up with Target - supply chain, politics, inflation, cvs?

So if you could upgrade the inventory management through staffing and a shoplifter camera (like on roller coasters at theme parks) you can make branded bandit merch 😂 and therefore determine which local charities can get those wayward broke asses on a better path.
