The 12 credits that they require have to be done in a six month term. Once your nursing term start date is set you cannot change it to sooner, even if you accelerate those last 12 credits. So really the program is two and a half years. I’m currently in the program and 100% recommend it.

I just got accepted for the September 1st start date. just finished up microbiology lab i took 7 classes in 3 months with Sophia Learning have kids so that's fast for me :)
hi ! i am also doing sophia learning, did you talk to your counselor on which courses to take in sophia learning or did you find out yourself which ones were transferable?? Also good luck so excited for u !!!
I moved to attend my LPN program. I was ready to move anyway. Illinois programs are very expensive and moving allowed me to save completely on my program. My program was $6000 but I ended up getting everything covered because I found a grant. Mind you I have a degree already (2 to be exact) and I no longer qualify for financial aid. It was a blessing. Just do your research! I am definitely attending WGU. Studying for the HESI now and then I will finish up prerequisites. I plan to start once accepted in September or October if possible.
Is it worth applying to ? I’m deciding over WGU or my local community college I’m a mother as well and online would be easier for me but I’m worried if I can really learn the same way please give some tips
They just updated the program, and you can now accelerate clinicals, if they have space available in your district. I was told they estimate it will be about a 30% chance of accelerating a clinical.
@@NurseDeeyIt’s not something that’s set in stone. I’ve heard other people mentioning this as well. However, I have a friend that did this and it ended up messing up her degree plan to the point where she has multiple clinical classes all in one term and WGU has been unable to fix it for her. I would personally caution against doing this. I know everyone is in a rush to get done, but nursing school is not something that’s mean to be quick.
@@alexsheppe Yes! You are correct. The school I attend has a RN program but has a waitlist so I did some research and found WGU and StraightLine and Sophia in the process and am using my refund to pay for the courses.
ACE Credits are credits you can transfer in from study.com, straighterline, etc, to complete a degree faster. These courses only take a few days each. Check out my Nursing spreadsheet on my website.
Nursing school is like a lot of other degrees. Take engineering. For example. Your first two years is doing all the maths and physics, and general education. The second two years is more focused on what engineering discipline you will be learning. Most degrees are like this. Also, those other schools that you can get your nursing degree in one year, not only do you need a bachelor degree, but you need all the prereqs that will can take up to a year to get before you ever actually get into nursing school. So they're not really only a year.
It's not accurate that WGU is the only college to complete a nursing degree in the US within two years. There are many other colleges can complete the MSN and BSN degree within 12 -21 months. WGU might be the cheapest one.
planning it out now, would i be able to contact wgu and ask them what classes transfer. I have an LPN and am interested in the WGU Pre-Licensure Nursing Program and would love a fast-track plan. I went to your website. Are you aware if I would have to start from ground zero of if WGU will accept credits from my LPN program? Please help😩
I’m doing the same thing. Lpn here. I have some prerequisites done due to a previous degree but I still have all the sciences to do. Studying for HESI now and then I’ll start the prerequisites in July.
@MsTolatola If you are starting from complete scratch, no pre-reqs, using study.com and other ace credit providers, transferring them to WGU, doing their pre licensing RN Nursing program, would be the fastest way to do it in the entire country. All in all probably 2 years and 2-3 months.
Is there a way I can do this with Rn to BSN Program? wgu isn’t offered in my state for pre-nursing. So I’m considering going to community college to get my RN license and transfer to WGU. I’m looking for the fastest track possible taking this route. Do you have any advice or tips?

Do they allow science prereqs that are over 5 years? I took my science classes (API, Chem, Micro) in 1995.

The RN to BSN won't have many credits you can transfer but you can accelerate the degree and do classes at your own pace.
Do you have a preference for one of the ace credit platforms? I’ve seen ppl advise against using particular ones.
I prefer Study’s interface and also no writing. Some people like writing but drives me crazy.
Is this still updated?
You can get an associates and become an RN in 2 years and go from RN to BSN virtually.
WGU allows you to get a BSN in 2.5 years.

Do you have to apply to the program first before taking these classes or is it better to do the prereqs first before applying??
I would take the classes first because the enrollment counselor might be pushy on you starting WGU.
