@@lockpickinglawyer Dear mr. LPL id like to hear your advice please, is this 26 better than the discus 25 ? I wonder if the pins key make the 25 safer?
@@lockpickinglawyer I like it too but the hollow design on the smaller one (I use a 20/70) is good for my hard bicycle trunk because it saved weight. Perhaps they could launch a separate reinforced series. I'm not sure it's necessary though because if it's not already strong enough maybe you ought to go with something higher end
I broke down and bought one before I saw your video on this lock. When I saw the open laminations I figured that I had received a cheap knockoff. Thank you for clearing that up. And thank you for what you do❤
Being that the shackle is so much further away from the core radially than the normal variants, I imagine some of the resistance would be due to the torque increase. The laminations may also be snugged up against the shackle.
The Abus Diskus are pretty common here in Europe. The drag is also noticeable on my Abus 24/90. (The 24/90 is nearly identical to the 26/90 sold 15 years ago.)
Looking heavy duty is important and being an Abus it probably is and it's also a bit harder to pick not that picking is as common as brute force attacks. Also if he finds it more difficult to pick them many will find it even more so! Pick resistant even!
The 70's are definitely the most common. I sometimes see the 80mm Master 40M, and the Abus 20/80 in use, but I don't recall ever seeing a 90mm disc lock in the wild. I only have 2 in my collection... this and the Godrej 90mm Duralock (with 14 pin core).
The 26 series keys snap so easy, thats why I've changed to the 20 series and they seem to be all round better made to be honest, keys, whether protection and body strengh.
Paul Edwards Does anyone know what are the actual inner dimensions of the Abus van "hasp/lock" as I could not find it anywhere online? I would love to know so I can see which Abus diskus I can use with it. Would 20/80 fit inside?
Looking big and heavy duty is important for deterrence and being an Abus it probably is heavy duty and it's also a bit harder to pick not that picking is as common as brute force attacks. Also if you find it more difficult to pick them many will find it even more so! Pick resistant even! Might make sense for locking my bike up at home but I'm not sure I want to take it riding...but maybe. It's interesting that the space for chain isn't much bigger than the smaller lock! What size chain will it take? 3/8"? Or?
I think, I can understand why there is drag on the core. The core actually moves the ring, so they are both connected somehow. If you were to detach them, the ring may move freely.
We used these on our jobsite trailers. They are tough! Each one had scars from people trying to break them open. All they had to do was have two little tools. LOL If i remember correctly each one of ours dragged a bit as well. Made it easy to break the key if you were to rough.
LockPickingLawyer if I’m not mistaking I think I have a brinks 40 mm. I need to look for it and see. I know I have 3 different sizes if it and just like you said all just scaled up/down versions.
I have one of these on my garage door and yes the core is very draggy. Update: I dropped the lock with the key in the lock and snapped the key clean off. Thankfully I was able to get the key out.
Abus should make their model 20 discus lock in the 90 mm size with all that extra metal built in that way it will even be harder to pick but still have a really big really heavy durable strong big bodied discus lock why don't they do that? Can you tell them PLEASE because I know I would buy and use some of them myself for sure if they did make and sell them!
Locks are for honest people , for criminals I've got several security devices , cameras , a Rottweiler and a Sound Making Device that can easily pass out a Darwin Award if all else fails . But I do prefer my bone cracking device that will leave a memory next time they want to even atempt to try retrieve property that does not belong to them
Hi, can I please ask you how would you compare the 26/90 and Abus 20/70 or 20/80 from your [150] video in physical security and pick resistance? Your thoughts on value for $? Thanks in advance and keep up the amazing work. Thumbs up! :-)
The 20 series is FAR more pick resistant. the 90mm lock is far more resistant to physical attacks than either of the others. As for value -- I'm a fan of the 20/70.
Can I ask you what % of locks are bypassed by picking? I'm thinking 99% of criminals can only pick their nose and so physical security is way more Important.
I think a lot of criminals can pick locks that are easy to pick honestly so I think the pick resistance is maybe just as important as the physical strength of the lock honestly but the lock picking lawyer would know better than I do and could answer better than I do but the pick resistance is extremely important!
Thanks. I hope more people think like you and join the party. 500k would be awesome! Then I could quit my day job and become the "LockPickingLockPicker"!
I saw a lock on another video that was freaking huge. It was an Abus Rock and it was like a foot tall with maybe 4-6 inch thick shackle. Does anyone know if that was a real lock we could buy or if it’s just for show.
So out of all these different discus type locks do you still recommend the Abus 20/70 and Abus 20/80 above and beyond everything else or not? And where would the rank the Paclock 1000 Pro among the hierarchy as well as this Abus 26/90 where would it fit among the top recommended discus locks according to you just curious? And thanks for all the videos you make because people really do appreciate these types of videos because everyone wants to secure their property yet most locks are basically worthless sadly because they're so easy to pick so everyone wants something that is much harder to pick but is also a more durable lock physically.
Yeah... it is... but i really wonder why they do not offer this model with the plus disc core... as far as i could see, none of their diskus models are listen on SSFs list of insurance approved pad locks
@@lockpickinglawyer what would you consider higher security than the Abus 20/80 in a discus form or any form really? And would you consider the 20/70 just as high of security or lower because the lock is smaller?
Yes, please do. One thing that I would suggest is that if you could is to present and talk about locks you could not or had lots of difficulties with opening as a way to perhaps recommend for home security. You know, what types of cylinder locks, makes, models, region availability you would use yourself. Maybe some price guides of what you already know. Thanks in advance and keep up the awesome job!!
Now that is a big lock. Great picking and love the laminated metal inside.
Thanks... I like this design better myself.

Thanks for sharing your experiences on core drag... the diskus is pretty common here as well, but not the 90mm variant. All we see is the 70mm locks.
Nice pick! I really like Abus' products and have many in my collection. Just a nice, quality lock.
Thanks..
I think would be nice to have a look inside that one and see why it's difficult to turn!
very heavy duty looking lock....
I want to see also... but don't want to destroy my lock. :-(
Use some wd40!

It's still way too small to use in an Olympic discus throw.
A full sized diskus would be epic!
Those bigger ones are pretty common here in Germany. Just saw a couple of them in the shopping mall on some kids fairground rides.
Good to know... they seem like OK locks. I have NEVER seen one in use in the USA.
I think I found a lock to go with my abus chain for my ebike 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Very cool Construction on that lock. A laminated disc lock hybrid, nice comparison.
Thanks, I thought it was an interesting variant.
Great picking brother ,fantastic find in this Abus 26/90 as well. Absolutely huge !
My 26/90 feels like it drags a little as you noted, and it weighs as much as my Granit 37rk/80.
Thanks for weighing in on the drag... good to know.
Shocked to see a disc padlock that isn't that same standard size.

The 20's are definitely very nice. If I had need for a disc padlock, that's probably what I would use.
Good thing is you can put them in an Abus van lock hasp, as they use the Diskus inside them. Works a treat!
Paul Edwards Does anyone know what are the actual inner dimensions of the Abus van "hasp/lock" as I could not find it anywhere online? I would love to know so I can see which Abus diskus I can use with it. Would 20/80 fit inside?
it will take any size 70 diskus, i don't think the 20/80 will fit, the 20/70 defiantly does because thats what i put in them.
The 20/70 is the way to go , awesome lock :]
You are right, I did not know that this lock existed and I think it's awesome :-) nice pick
Thanks.
I have this lock, No one is going to pick it where I live. My lock rubs the same way, perhaps even a little harder to turn.

I love the abus diskus series so much
Bigger is generally better but a dimple lock would make better sense perhaps. Still a great lock any collector should own.
Hmmm. I wonder if they make the dimple core version in 90mm...
super nice that has to be the largest disk padlock i have seen.THANKS for sharing .woops nice spp'd. 😎😎😎😎😎
Thanks.
What is the purpose of the spinner in front of the tumbler?
I think, I can understand why there is drag on the core. The core actually moves the ring, so they are both connected somehow. If you were to detach them, the ring may move freely.
Wonder why abus don’t offer this with the abus plus core?
Since this lock has laminated internals I wonder if it would be more effective than a conventional Diskus in a twist attack.
We used these on our jobsite trailers. They are tough! Each one had scars from people trying to break them open. All they had to do was have two little tools. LOL If i remember correctly each one of ours dragged a bit as well. Made it easy to break the key if you were to rough.
can you find the smallest discus type lock, instead of finding the biggest one?
I think I have a 50mm generic Chinese one... I'll have to dig into my locks and find it.
LockPickingLawyer if I’m not mistaking I think I have a brinks 40 mm. I need to look for it and see. I know I have 3 different sizes if it and just like you said all just scaled up/down versions.
1:35 Minutes to open the lock, I guess I'll use this one along with a 10mm Steel chain for my e-Bike.
I have one of these on my garage door and yes the core is very draggy.
Update: I dropped the lock with the key in the lock and snapped the key clean off. Thankfully I was able to get the key out.
Donald Sayers Just wondering.... if the key itself is such bad quality, then maybe getting a copy of it would be a good idea.
I did.

I don't offhand.
I have the same model and I have the same drag, as I am a novice in lockpicking I have not gotten this one open :)
Can you pick this lock right side up? Or is there something in lock that will not let you?
Sold in germany, when my memory is still correct.
Can I ask you what % of locks are bypassed by picking?

cool ! now do the baby, (29/45 or 29/50?)
I have a 50mm generic one IIRC. I'll take a look.
