You’ve been complaining that my videos are too short so I’ve gone all out this time and show seven full games 🤡
Remember to Tap that Like Button ⤵👍
“After 100 games”
Respect.
dang
Just got into watching your videos from the podcast, you do a really great job :D
The monkey's paw curls again!
lol... and what meaty interesting games they were.
Should have mulligan to one or two to show dominance. Especially against the thoughtseize.
That's something I would totally do
If you always mulligan four times it looks as though you just kept a full land hand as a last resort.
@oelboy But that's just how you get them. When they try another form of hand disruption and they get another hand of just lands.
The best part of this deck is that you draw the perfect hand every game.
It’s immune to Duress AND Thoughtseize!
This deck has 1000% consistency
That sequence of Turn 0 scoops to Ragavan was hilarious
Been there done that :D
"Let's set a stop on their upkeep so it looks like we're holding up interaction" is some absolutely devilish shenanigans, gotta respect it
I laughed my entire way through that video. You are a deranged genius.
With the amount of turn 0 scoop to ragavan I've seen on my side and the opponent's I'm surprised it's still not banned in historic brawl
I’m gonna be honest, sometimes I scoop cuz I’m on the draw with a couple bad hands and I just don’t have the capacity to push through it lol
It's not actually that busted of a deck. It's just that ragavan is a rather annoying card if you don't have removal or blockers.
@@Couldnt_Be_Bothered being on the draw against raga an is just a noxious even with a 1 drop blocker 90% of the time they'll bolt it and then they only need to connect once to pull ahead. The problem is not so much that it's busted it's that there is literally only card that counters it on turn 1 if you're on the draw and it's sword to plowshare. Most people don't want to play against that and that's reason enough to ban it in a casual format
@@sharlockshacolmes9381 There are multiple annoying commanders in historic brawl. That's not a valid reason for a ban. I bet more people are sick of rusko than ragavan.
@@sharlockshacolmes9381lay down arms, isolate, dead weight, disfigure, lightning bolt, shock and it's functional reprints, cut down, fatal push
This means that, mathematically, a mono-red deck with a 30% winrate can in fact go up to a >50% winrate simply by putting Ragavan in the command zone.
What.... that's... math damn.
I assume you're just being goofy for a joke, but -- it could be winning those 30% of games off of the same opponents who would salt scoop, so the math doesn't work that way.
Not quite, that 20% happens independent of the deck so it includes some matches the mono-red deck would naturally win too. Meaning it's more around 0.8*0.3+0.2=44%. So it doesn't reach 50% but 30% was given as a 'lower bound' so in this case a 38% would be the 'magic' number for >50% win rate (in theory).
@@Pedropapt No cus this deck only had ragavan and it's 20% so adding ragavan obviously mean +20%. Duh.
If that wasn't enough to put your onto the joke, nothing will.
It’s technically optimal to mulligan to 0 so they don’t gain information from hand disruption (unless you’re on the play)
Actually not really since your opponent is less likely to salt scoop. So the win rate would go down.
The whole mulligan to 0 strategy is only the right decision in a best of 3 game after you’ve already mulliganed a few times. If you’re sure you’re going to lose before the game begins you can safely mulligan to 0 in order to gain as much information about the opponent as possible while concealing your information from them. Then use the information advantage during sideboarding for game 2 and 3
This is the funniest comment I’ve read in my whole life Ty
Wouldn't the safer way to play this deck be to dash Ragavan every turn? That way he can dodge a lot of enchantment removal, and your opponent can sometimes swing back in theory and expose themselves to another monkey hit.
If you waited and hoped that the opponent would swing and leave no blockers, then that would be a lot of time spent waiting just on the off chance that the opponent might make a blunder. I think it made sense to do what he did and just scoop when the opponent plays a blocker. Also yes, that would let you avoid sorcery-speed removal, but playing Ragavan turn one leaves you more mana to cast whatever you exile turn two and onwards.
I built this deck a couple months back. The winrate might be abysmal, but man, you really do get a lot of wins in a short amount of time.
Funny enough I actually still expected ragavan to have a winning record, but fun to watch.
Fully on the same boat, feel a little silly looking back 😅
Technically it did though? If you count all the turn 1 scoops.
@@Tvboy777 he says 23% winrate at the end, over 100 matches! :)
If you just flood the deck with removal so monkey can always get in, it's ap retty powerful deck. In that when you remove the first two things people play and keep getting monkey hits they'll often salty scoop.
The scooping montage got me 😭
Amazing. The salt flows! Always a banger when you upload 🤌
Mmmmm… Monkee…
best MTG content there is. pls more, more, more.
Ashling the Pilgrim plus 99 mountains is the OG
the slight, smooth zoom in and out when something happens is ABSOLUTELY MARVELLOUS
as a video editor, those small details make or break a video. amazing man
Loved the mid-video land change up strategy, classic! I really thought the scary lands would perform better :(
3:30 This reminds me of running my Izzet Wizards deck in Standard and then Historic when it rotated. Sometimes I would go Island, Siren Stormtamer, and the opponent would just concede, giving me a free win because they thought I was Mono-Blue Tempo.
Actually hilarious, i dont think a mtg arena video has ever made me laugh this much!
I wish there was more videos from you. They are so fun to watch!
Not running chandra avatar, lightning bolt sleeves and bolthund pet definitely cost you some games!
Genius! Thank you for doing this!
This is hilarious. Loved the content and your humor!
I dont think a turn one scoop is ALWAYS salty I think it is a form of protest. In a casual formate you play to have fun and for a weak deck the monkey is not fun to play against
I always scoop to Monkey. If enough non-games are played out maybe it'll get the ban.
I kindve want to do this but with like 7 spells. No way to get mana screwed still since the most spells you can ever start with is 7 and if you are on the draw you will always draw a mountain of that's the case. The fun part is figuring out which spells
And because of Arena’s hand smoother, you’re actually way more likely to start the game with at least one of those spells
Well thank you for showing us this entertaining look at the other side of trying something creative!
This was amazing, thankyou Phil
Evil genius having a goof day. Loved it!
this is giving me feels of the brawl deck that was only 1 mana ramp and Oko back in the day. People would SCOOP at the sight of Oko alone.
The bonus game was awesome!!!
Where does Ragavan go to get a drinks? The Monkey Bars
I was so excited to see one of your videos and slightly disappointed to see it was only 5 minutes. I know it's a lot of editing but please release more videos.
Love this man xD such a nice charging video
Early scoops are the reason why I would like brawl to have a ranked que.
that land destruction running into a 99 land deck is such a funny confluence of events
This is like the Barry Bonds of decks.
Plz more Historic Brawl from Brewer’s Kitchen!! So many broken possibilities
"Well hello there random person on the internet"
Me: "OMG THAT'S ME!!"
You had us in the first half on that bonus game.
A land descruction deck conceeding the second his land is destroyed is literal perfection.
This brew has no right to be as entertaining as it is. Another top tier video.
Quality content! Your commander is a villain so the maindeck answers are justified.
Also helps that blocks and removal stop it.
Ah yes, the infamous Brewer's Kitchen x Meme or Dream crossover fans have been asking for 😂 amazing content as ever!
Brewers kitchen is the only reason why im subbed to mtggoldfish this shit is top tier
So glad to catch another Brewers Kitchen vid, my favorite arena content creator
wall of blossoms UNBEATABLE!
As always, such good videos and enjoyable content
Really loved the power up strategy at 3:00 😆
I really haven't minded playing against ragavan in historic brawl. Just Mulligan for interaction and then you get down blockers by the time they recast it. Haven't lost a game to it since the first week it was out.
i was waiting for this
good video, nice job.
my own record was 11:39. nearly the same 22%. but only won one game without conceding. that was against nahiri equipments. got a quite big hexproofed ragavan. mostly lost with early scopes. but one game lost directly against bolas, god-pharaoh +2 as commander.
like your videos. like to see more.
Ashling is shaking in her flaming boots right now
Now this is the Arena content I've been waiting for
This is amazing.
You should have used the new SMOrc avatar and lightning bolt sleeves for extra intimidation.
I've seen this exact deck multiples times the past 2 weeks. Its surprisingly common... and yes, most people will just concede to ragavan on the play because against the actual build of the deck your winrate is
lol amazing episode and commentary
"Monkey!" - Dennis "King Koopa" Hopper
Bonus game had me rolling
Rough video to make for sure, but you presented this hilariously and excellently! We're really impressed by your editing, comedic timing, and presentation of the games.
20% chance to die of cringe is quite the power.
Great vid bud
Phil coming through with the best videos!!
God the turn 0 concede when they see the monkey. Now that's quality content.
this is about what i expected honestly
-runs land destruction
-gets own land destroyed
-instantly concedes
That last game was hilarious
"Wall of Blossoms... unbeatable."
I'd personally run this with one of every mountain art I own
I always love kitchens videos
every time he uploads a vid i get supa excited
The land destruction deck was the best meta-matchup ever
Still my favourite video of yours for how completely ridiculous it is. I pulled a Ragavan during March of the Machine, and I keep wanting to show up to a commander night with this deck just to see if anyone gets the joke.
3:21 is so dang funny. I have watched it dozens of times now.
i made this joke to my friends! ragavan has my highest winrate of any deck. it's hands-down the best deck for just getting your weekly wins as fast as possible.
This is freaken hilarious.
Brilliant
You could do this as an alternate speedrun from the bat one
Love it
okay real talk, those mountains look SICK
You might be able to make this _slightly_ more consistent by always using Dash. That gets around the "can't attack" enchantments, at least.
Quality content
one of the decks of all time very fast
I can't believe you've done this
If you had ever played me I would of scooped. Always scoop to seeing Monkey in the command zone XD
It was a valiant-ish effort.
I spent the one mythic rare ticket because why not, and I’ve won about 2/3 of the games just from a pre game scoop, the other one third games are fun until they drop a creature and then you’re about done lol
There really should be more of these videos.😊😊😊😊😊
I actually use ragavan as a mono red eldrazi commander.
It’s absolutely silly. It just helps me ramp on turn 2/3/4.
Then some fun like rogues passage, hot soup but usually ragavan is just a lightning rod that ppl carry over modern hatred into EDH for haha.
Ive only ever scooped to monky if my deck is too slow and bad match up ive played against it enough times to know how the match will play out its not that tough to beat if you have lots of early interaction.
lmao, that's really good
This checks. I've been playing hist brawl with monkey and my win rate is pretty high, if you count turn 0 scoops. Good attempt
I feel like maybe if it was all ramp rituals and rocks it could possibly work
I would have added some non-Basic lands to garner various effects (and maybe some Zandikar lands that become creatures, or transform lands as back-up and failsafes).
how many lands could you use that are critters? or something else?
Laughing, literally laughing through this whole video.
"Wallow Of Blossoms. Unbeatable." 🤘
