Barnacles and whales are commensalistic, a form of symbiosis that benefits one and leave the other unaffected, like the bacteria on our skin. Though sometimes they can overgrow, like we can have harmless bacteria on out skin multiply a bit too much. It doesn’t harm them, it doesn’t feel uncomfortable, in fact removing them would cause pain.

I don’t know what people expect from orcas/killer whales they don’t have a choice bc they have to eat too. in person, I’ve actually been close to one and they’re really sweet. They don’t mean to harm other animals they just have to eat.and they can’t help how they see things

You shouldn’t remove barnacles. They don’t hurt the whale, the whale can use them as defense against more aggressive creatures, and removing them can hurt the whale and leave wounds that can get infected.

I don’t know what people expect from orcas/killer whales they don’t have a choice bc they have to eat too. in person, I’ve actually been close to one and they’re really sweet. They don’t mean to harm other animals they just have to eat.and they can’t help how they see things

You shouldn’t remove barnacles. They don’t hurt the whale, the whale can use them as defense against more aggressive creatures, and removing them can hurt the whale and leave wounds that can get infected.

Barnacles are painful to whales or they wouldn't be asking the human beings to help them by removing them. When a whale approaches a boat like this, it is ALWAYS covered with barnacles because it wants the painful things removed......
