There's this big rotten log in my backyard, so I break pieces off of it to find queen ants! In this video: x3 Camponotus chromaiodes Music: Bug Catching by Emily A. Sprague
@@HappilyEverAnter that's really good because ants cant see orange-red colors so when they get placed in these containers they will feel like in the dark and underground
I have a species of carpenter ant Queen I'm not sure exactly what kind she is but I desperately need help with taking care of her I know nothing about her species yet as I am new to the ant keeping world she has taken off her wings and let eggs she's in a test tube but from here I don't know where to go
Congratulations on catching a queen! Honestly, the best thing to do is to leave her alone as much as you can. I suggest checking on her at most once a week, but preferably less. When you check on her, she will become stressed. If she becomes too stressed, she will eat her brood and have to start founding all over. Once she has her first worker(s), you can feed her a small amount of sugar water/honey/carbohydrates and protein, preferably in the form of a small insect or piece of insect. Jordan Dean on UA-cam has some wonderful videos on how to take care of queens and founding colonies!
This might be the best channel name I've ever seen
Cool video
Thanks
You seem really nice enjoying the video 👍
Never thought to let them bite me in order to pick them up😂 pre smart tho💯

Thanks for the tip!
Nice, i cought 1 Q Camponotus ligniperda.
Good thing your in some big country bc in singapore if you do that people will give you wierd looks i did one time and some people give me wierd looks
I was alone in my backyard doing this, so no one was around. I’m very self conscious, so I understand not wanting to get weird looks!!
Hey cool vid I support u
You should have checked to see if she had laid eggs in that lot
already
Didn't she say they had a flight one day prior? Queen was probably still excavating her chamber
How do you find queen ants
you can mostly search in dead wood, like her or wait for Nuptial Flights when queens mate with males and you can search in your backyard for queens
Best!
did you set them up in test tubes?
nvm i guess so
If the owner answers and pins me it’s gonna be my first time
Nice vid
You should use a crow bar to dig a little deeper into the log
