SantaColor 100 | Kodak's Secret Surveillance Film

- Hi there, me again. In this video I test out SantaColor 100. Kamerastore reached out to me to see if I would like to test out Some SantaColor 100 they had in stock. SantaColor 100 is a repackaged version of Kodak Aerocolor IV 2460. Kodak Aerocolor is an aerial surveillance film used for projects that require aerial mapping such as city planning and forestry. It has a similar warm toned look similar to many of Kodak's other film stocks, but it seems to have added red sensitivity. The film base is not orange like other color negative films, but instead comes out mostly clear or faintly brown in color. I took this film out at the beginning of the new year to test it out and I was pretty happy with the results. Big thanks to Kamerastore for letting me try out this film! I would photograph my downtown (Bremerton, WA) in strong sunlight. I can't find many if any contemporary film images of Bremerton online or elsewhere.

I’m not a film person, but I do like how you’re recording the praxis of the day’s shooting, something the stills medium needs more of-too many consumers of stills (and aspiring authors) don’t have a clue what it looks like to be “photographering”.
It feels like you may be setting the tripod a bit far off from things for your focal length, the wood pile especially looked fertile for compositions but came out a bit small, dunno if this is to compose the video of yourself with the tripod, or to avoid the appearance of trespass.
I am finding these days it’s really easy to just shrug, apologize, smile, say goodnight, and immediately start walking if anything comes up- 2024 is very permissive vibes for landscape photo/ urban docu geeking in public.
the color characteristics of this stock are really cool, I’m keen to try it out with spring/summer foliage and mangrove environments-that red from the root frills.
If you develop a sim as a LUT, DaVinci node tree, or PSD grading template I’d definitely be good for a sale
Thanks for the comment! Yeah the process of capturing yourself going about the photographic process is difficult sometimes, but it is really important for people to see the process! I’ve never thought about making emulations before! Maybe I’ll have to try it some time!

I love that film. Definitely the barb wire shot is the roll best. That digital long exposure nailed that image. Was the first lens on the Canon P the 35mm ? Would like to try that film so hoping I can snag that 5 pack when you decide to release it.

I think that's the same stock being sold as Luminar. As it has a clear base (no orange mask) it can be processed in E6 chemistry to mske nice transparencies.
Yeah! Luminar 100 is the same stock!
How about documenting what's left of Joyland, the amusement park of my childhood? The enhanced reds might make for an almost post-apocalyptic feel. I'd use it to photograph downtown Bremerton in strong sunlight.
I would have loved to, but I think what was left of Joyland is gone. It was turned into a different flea market

@@ReimannPembroke The Aerocolor emulsion might highlight the iron rich minerals and provide some unusual contrast in an otherwise dull scene.
Santacolor does best with reds, whites, blacks, and reindeer.
Definitely gotta find some reindeer to photograph with it
Be careful, you could get shot for trespassing
